César Montes went to Russia to play fútbol, not end up in a war movie.

After the reported drone attack involving his team's train, should he consider leaving Russia?

CONCACAF Nations League format is so annoying

So I just started getting into the Nations league this year and the whole group stage promotion relegation system is crazy to me. I understand that they want to make it balanced because in the region there are World Cup level teams and there are a fair share of low ranked teams made up of "part timers", and they are trying to make the competition fair. However, even though its not likely, those lower ranked teams have no possible way to progress. They will have to wait until the next Nations league after winning promotion, and then continue the cycle again until they get to the top group. I did the math and the absolute soonest a team in the bottom league can make promotion to the upper group and have an opportunity to lift the trophy is 2033! Its robbing a lot of small countries from having generational memories and david and goliath moments in my opinion. Not to mention exposure for their players with a bigger audience. I would like to instead see a tournament where every one of the teams in the region have an opportunity to progress with no limitations.

Caribbean Cup semi-finals cancelled.

Post image

Haiti's Violette AC had to abandon its plans to play the second leg of the Caribbean Cup semifinals against Jamaica's Portmore United in Santiago de los Caballeros after Dominican authorities revoked the permit to hold the match. The decision comes amid tensions between the two countries and after a Dominican nationalist group announced protests to prevent the game from taking place. According to reports from Haiti, the Violette delegation has already left on Sunday, while Concacaf confirmed that the match will be postponed and will be rescheduled for the week of October 26. The LATEST thing is that we are talking about a club that is already forced to play OUTSIDE OF ITS COUNTRY due to the insecurity in Haiti and that achieved a PERFECT GROUP PHASE, winning all four of its matches to deservedly reach these semifinals.

Is Costa Rica starting to field a new generation?

Jeyland Mitchell and Josimar Alcócer have been revalued in the European market for €8 and €6 million in their clubs, Strasbourg Racing and Sparta Prague respectively. They are only topped by Manfred Ugalde who plays in Spartak Moscow. And now, very young players like Alajuelense’s Yerlan Sosa are showing great promise. Could this be a generation that will give Costa Rica a decent national team capable of competing in CONCACAF?
