Meta Seeking feedback from the community

Almost 20k members, damn this subreddit took off.

Back when I had joined, there weren't even 10k members.

Anyways, I want the community's input on whether we should allow asking programming questions on this subreddit.

I know ChatGPT, StackOverflow and other forums exist, and the subreddit's name doesn't give that kind of vibe, but I still want the community's input.

Let me know.

LinkedIn SSE Talent Search or Microsoft L63 Core AI Agent Foundry team Hyderabad?

Received 2 offers -

Microsoft Core AI Agent Foundry team, Hyderabad - L63

Base - 57.5L

Variable - 0-30%

RSU - 170K

Joining bonus - 12L first year, 8L second year

LinkedIn SSE Talent Search team -

Base - 70L

Variable - 10%

RSU - 157.5K

Same 25% vesting for 4 years for RSU in both companies

Currently L4 at Google GCP Bangalore for last 3.5 years -

Base - 41.5L Variable - 15%

RSU - 120K almost approaching cliff

Both offers are almost at same TC of 1.2cr. My thoughts so far -

Relocation to Hyderabad is not a concern for MS and really liked talking with the skip during HM round. Awaiting call with direct HM at MS.

Liked the work and skip manager more for MS than LinkedIn. LinkedIn roadmap for the TA products still not clear, waiting for one more rounds of chat with HM but the product is a 200M $ business while the Agent Foundry team at MS is still acquiring customer.

Unknowns that I seek advice on -(mentioned in order of my priority)

WLB at both orgs

Occasional WFH flexibility

Culture and politics

Stability/security aspects

So far inching towards LinkedIn because of higher base. Also historically LinkedIn has always provided full 10% variable. Thoughts?

YoE: 8, L4 for 3.5 years at Google

Help me choose the best offer.

2026 Computer Engineering graduate, unemployed and confused about what to learn looking for honest advice from people working in IT

I'm a B.E. Computer Engineering graduate from Mumbai. I finished my final-semester exams in May 2026, and it's now almost November. I still haven't landed a job, and honestly, I'm getting scared about my future.

I know I should have started earlier, and I'm not looking for sympathy. After graduation, I had to help at a kirana store because of an urgent need. Meanwhile, I've lost direction and don't know which skills to prioritise or how to actually get hired.

I want practical advice from people who have actually been through this or who are involved in hiring.

I'm considering Data Analytics (i did a paid course in this but scared will this even be relevant in future?), Data Engineering and AI/ML, but I'm open to other IT roles too

I'd really appreciate honest answers to these questions:

  1. What exact skills would you learn, and in what order?
  2. Which skills would you prioritise over the next 2–3 months to improve your chances of getting a first job in India?
  3. How did you actually get your first job — campus placement, company assessments, referrals, LinkedIn, Naukri, direct applications or something else?
  4. Are company recruitment tests and graduate hiring drives worth prioritising for the 2026 batch?
  5. Which job roles should I realistically target right now?
  6. How much will my gap matter, and how should I explain it?

I'd especially appreciate replies from people who graduated in the last few years and successfully found their first IT job, as well as experienced professionals who understand entry-level hiring.

Please be honest, even if the answer is uncomfortable. I'm ready to put in consistent work; I just need a realistic direction rather than jumping between different career options.
If you were in my position today, what would your next 90 days look like, step by step?

A practical pre-apply checklist for spotting fake job posts in India

Job scams and ghost postings are a big time tax in India, so here is the pre-apply checklist I keep to (built partly while working on a job-tracking project, and getting burned by the same problems): 1. The apply link host says more than any logo. Large employers run applications on their own careers domain or on employer ATS platforms such as boards.greenhouse.io, jobvite.com or smartrecruiters.com. If the URL does not match the employer or a known ATS platform, pause. 2. The post has a genuine posted date and, ideally, a closing date. Ghost listings never close; they sit and collect applicants for a role nobody is reading. 3. Money never flows toward the applicant. Registration fee, training deposit, laptop security deposit, processing charge - it is a scam by definition. 4. Cross-check the req on the employer own careers page and the LinkedIn company page with real employees in the listed city. HR profiles with a handful of connections are not the company. 5. Search the exact title plus company on Reddit and Glassdoor before investing time. Fake-factory recruiters leave trails quickly. For transparency: I maintain a free aggregator, jobalertsworld.com, that pulls postings from official employer ATS feeds daily and shows each job a posted date and closing date. No login, no signup gate. Use it or any method that works; the checklist matters more than the site. Corrections welcome - if you use a better check, add it below.

25 MSc CSE fresher - Please brutally roast my resume and tell me what tech stack/roadmap I should follow to get a job fast.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a 25-year-old MSc Computer Science graduate from India looking for my first proper software engineering job.

I've attached my current resume. I want genuine and brutally honest feedback, not just "looks good bro." Please point out anything that would make a recruiter reject me.

My current background

\- BCA + MSc Computer Science

\- 0 professional software-development experience

\- Python, C, JavaScript, PHP

\- HTML/CSS, jQuery

\- Pandas, scikit-learn, basic ML/data mining

\- MySQL

\- Git/GitHub

\- DSA and problem solving

\- 100+ LeetCode problems

\- One academic ML/research project

\- A few web-development projects

I originally learned a fairly broad range of technologies, but I now want to stop jumping between stacks and become employable as quickly as possible.

What I want to target

I'm currently thinking about:

Python Backend ->FastAPI/Django -> PostgreSQL -> REST APIs -> Authentication/JWT -> Docker -> deployment -> DSA

Then build 2 serious projects and start applying aggressively.

But I'm not sure whether this is actually the best route for a fresher in the current Indian job market.

Please roast the resume

I'd especially like feedback on:

  1. Is my resume strong enough for getting shortlisted?

  2. Which sections should I completely remove?

  3. Which skills/projects look outdated, weak, or too generic?

  4. Does my MSc CSE + BCA background create a major disadvantage compared with B.Tech candidates?

  5. Are my projects actually worth putting on a fresher resume?

  6. Should I focus on backend, full-stack, data/ML, QA, cloud, or something else?

  7. What tech stack would you recommend for someone with my background who wants a job as fast as realistically possible?

  8. What should my next 3-6 month roadmap look like?

  9. How much DSA is actually necessary for fresher hiring?

  10. Should I prioritize getting any software job first rather than waiting for an ideal role?

I'm not targeting FAANG or anything unrealistic right now. My main goal is to get my first software job, gain real experience, become financially independent, and then grow from there.

Please be harsh about the resume. I'd rather get roasted by developers on Reddit than get silently rejected by 100 recruiters. 😅

Thanks!

Would you take a ₹25-30K government job over a Big Four career in IT?

I'm from a finance background and currently work in a Big Four in a functional role, with around 3 years of experience.

With all the layoffs and uncertainty in IT, I've been wondering whether a government job would be a better long-term choice.

Let's say I clear a government exam and get selected, but the starting salary is only ₹25–30K per month. I'd be taking a significant pay cut compared to what I earn now and would essentially be starting over financially.

Would the job security, benefits and stability actually make that trade-off worthwhile? Or would I be better off staying in IT, upskilling and trying to grow my salary?

I'm not looking for the usual "government jobs are best" or "IT pays more" answers. If you had both options in front of you, would you take the pay cut? Why or why not?

Got hired as a frontend intern, ended up in manual QA. Not sure if QA has a future or if I should do an AI course or go back to frontend

I did my MCA this year in India. I joined my company as a frontend intern, but they had no frontend work, so they put me in manual QA. They made me full time in May and I've been doing QA for around 8 months now.

My work is test cases, logging bugs, some SQL checks and documentation. No automation, almost no coding.

During the internship I built 3 full stack projects on my own time (React, TypeScript, Node, Postgres): an e-commerce app, a kanban board with role based access, and a 3D portfolio site with a multi agent AI thing in it. The problem is I built all of them with AI agents doing most of the heavy lifting. I can read the code and understand what's going on, but if you give me a blank file I'm stuck. That scares me a bit, especially for interviews.

So now I don't know which way to go.

One, stay in QA and try to move into automation / SDET, maybe AI or LLM testing.

Two, there's a PG certificate in AI & ML from IIT BHU with Simplilearn. It costs 1.4 lakh, runs for about 8 months at 6 to 9 hours a week, and then there's 6 months of job assistance. I haven't joined. From the brochure most of it is regular ML, deep learning and NLP, with a few modules on LLMs, RAG and agents. It's a completion certificate and when I asked about placement data they wouldn't share any. My idea was to do it while working, apply during the job assist period, and if nothing works out in about 3 months after that, just stay in QA.

Three, start learning frontend / MERN again from zero. I don't love this one.

What I want to ask:

Is QA actually a long term career in India, or is it only worth it if you move to automation / SDET? What do those people earn after 2 or 3 years?

Do paid certificates like this really matter to employers? Or is it just projects and how you do in interviews?

If any of you moved from manual QA to automation or AI testing, how long did it take and what worked for you?

And how do you actually learn to code properly when AI writes most of it for you?

Any advice is welcome, even if it's harsh. Thanks.

Selected at HashedIn by Deloitte and TCS Digital, but still waiting for joining letters. Which should I choose?

Hi everyone! I'm a 2026 B.Tech CSE graduate.

I was selected for the SDE-1 role at HashedIn by Deloitte, but haven't received the offer letter or joining letter yet. I also received an offer letter from TCS Digital for the Systems Engineer role, but I'm still waiting for the joining letter.

1.Whom should I contact for updates from both companies?

2.Which is better for career growth, salary, and technical learning?

3.Should I keep waiting or focus on other off-campus opportunities?

Any advice from employees or candidates in a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Should I switch from Tiger Analytics to Capgemini for an 80% hike, or stay for a possible promotion and WFH?

Hey,

I’m currently working at Tiger Analytics and have received an offer from Capgemini with an 80% hike and a hybrid work model. I’m confused about whether I should accept the offer or stay at my current company, and I’d appreciate some advice from people who have worked at either company.

Here’s my situation:

  • Current company: Tiger Analytics
  • Current work arrangement: WFH
  • New offer: Capgemini, with an 80% salary hike and hybrid work
  • Current company’s growth prospects: My manager mentioned that I might get promoted in January, but hasn’t confirmed the hike percentage or given a clear commitment.

I’m finding it difficult to decide because the salary increase at Capgemini is significant, but I also value the flexibility of working from home. The possibility of a promotion at Tiger Analytics is another factor, although nothing is confirmed yet.

There's another factor I'm concerned about: I'm getting married in February 2027 and will need around 10 days of leave. If I join Capgemini soon, I'll be taking this leave relatively early in my tenure. I'm worried about whether this could affect my onboarding, performance evaluation, or impression on my new manager and team. I would also need to confirm whether the leave could be approved in advance.

I’d like to know:

  1. How is Capgemini as a company in terms of work culture, job stability, learning opportunities, and career growth, particularly for Data Science/AI/GenAI roles?
  2. Is the hybrid work model flexible, or does it generally involve fixed office days?
  3. For those who have worked at both companies, how would you compare Tiger Analytics and Capgemini?
  4. Would you recommend taking an 80% hike now, or waiting for a possible promotion and salary revision in January?
  5. Would taking 10 days of approved leave a few months after joining affect my performance review or standing with the team?

I understand that the experience can vary depending on the project, manager, and business unit, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences and what you would consider before making this decision.

What should I know before switching jobs with just 1 year of experience at a service-based company, especially when I haven’t been allotted to any project?

My company has put me on a PIP after keeping me on the bench for a year without assigning me to any project. There’s a 99% chance I won’t be able to get out of it, so switching jobs seems to be my only option.

What should I do now to get placed as soon as possible?

Can HR take action on me if i don't join

I got an offer from an organisation and it was an urgent requirement and they wanted an immediate joiner so HR asked me to send that on mail stating that I will join early as they have also committed to their client ,I have sent 3-4 mail committing that I will join within timeline as my notice was of 3 months and now my current organization has retained me and I'm not joining the offer so the HR just told me that they will file a complaint against me stating that I committed to join and now I'm withdrawing offer and they have a proof of my commitment on mail and also it's an reputation loss and a big client escalation for them so I'm worried can this be really done or he is just trying to scare me
