I'm a bit late to this (sorry), but just wanted to make it be known that it's out!

Please do your due dilligence in reading all of the instructions and the 'About' section, and most of all - enjoy as we have with so many other titles that she's released this mod for!

OFFICIAL Sub Discussion New Rules

Subject to discussion before implementation

1) First and foremost, ban all of the repetitive victim posting

"Why is Dark Souls 2 so hated?" just devolves into the same thing - everyone commenting in agreement and performative victimizing. It's a video game, not everyone is going to like exactly what you like. There's no real discussion to be had there, and we seemingly have them here more than the other main subreddits. It's just becoming tiring.

2) Ban engagement-bait posts

The best example of this is someone posting a random, unrelated screenshot or artwork of Dark Souls 2 with the title of "What's your favorite sword in the game?" - then proceeding to not at all join in the discussion. It just serves to farm karma while putting in zero effort, not crediting the artist they took the art from, and not participating in their own thread. If you want to discuss something, make a text post and actually discuss.

3) Ban trouble makers at the mods' discretion

This is a spicy one because it can easily be mishandled by the wrong mod team. We all know Reddit mods are pretty garbage overall, but I'd like to think I'm a bit different since I'm here for Souls and couldn't give a shit less about seeming professional or having any semblance of "power" (it's Reddit, lmao).

This essentially means if you're posting within the guidelines (i.e - posting about Dark Souls 2) but you're making your post to simply stir shit, rile people up constantly, and put down others... then you should expect a ban.

I'm obviously not going to name names, but we all know a couple of usernames who, whenever there's random drama, we know they're going to be involved. These are the users I'm talking about

EDIT (this includes the "Slander posts" that you guys keep commenting about, but I will also explicitly say that yes, this does include the lame "Ds3 is grayslop hurr hurr" posts that just seek to rile people up for no reason)

Finally, a question to you all: How do we make this subreddit better?

That's it, that's the most important thing in this entire post. The game has been released for 12 years and the subreddit has kind of devolved into the same thing for the last decade at this point. Are there any ideas you all have, rules I should change, things I can do differently to make this place more enjoyable and less of the same, repetitive drivel?

Started my NG+ the other day and when I got around to freeing her, I had just the right clothes to give her from my previous playthrough (except the skirt, that's a different one but I feel like it fits) Everytime I go back to Majula I'm sure to stop by to say hello to my favorite Pyromancer vendor

I probably got a point of sin for this

Question What is this monster? (question 6/12)

Thumbnail

My question is:
Are you supposed to kill this monster?
What is that monster supposed to do?
Is it something to do with weapon degradation?

The first image is what I'm talking about.
The second image is just string of path to where I'm talking about, for possible context.
From bonfire: The Gutter / Central Gutter

My thoughts:
In games, I generally don't like to kill anything that don't attack me.
Am I missing something if I don't just kill this?
In dark souls everything is so permanent in your playthru, and I don't want to just test it by killing it if it has another purpose.
I might have found something saying that it affects your weapon degradation, but I'm not sure. It does nothing to my weapons even if I go into it's "smoke", no fix nor weaken. Is it a bug? Ehh... Is it supposed to affect your weapon but just simply don't? Or am I just missing something?
I know there are other monsters that deffinitely breaks my weapon with their smoke.

Edit:
Okay, based on replies, I actually had to go back and test the answers myself. Yap, I got poisoned by a statue, and it indeed heals poison instantly. It also, indeed, very slowly affects equipment. It's slowly eating away my rings' health, and my armor set's health, just does nothing to anything in my weapon slots. I feel bit dumb since I should of realized to check that. I'm finding all the lore answers also very interesting, since it almost feels like those are the real answers to explain this one.

Help Mad warrior question

I've been farming the mad warrior in belfry sol. I've got the whole armor set and one sword. My question for anyone who knows is does his pool have one or two copies or the sword in it? Basically if I want both does the pool reset and I can potentially get more armor pieces before second sword or would second sword be my next drop

Faraam Knight, "Long ago, in a walled off land far to the North, a great king built a great kingdom. I believe they called it Drangleic. Perhaps you are familiar?...No you can't be but one day you will stand upon it's decrepit gate, without really knowing why...."

Love the series and always wanted figures in the series in a smaller scale! Found a 3d store and put together this! Hope you enjoy!

Discussion Genuine question here: who tf is Amana?

Played thru DS2 a few times and I still dont remember this being explained. The Milfanito (that name is a whole other discussion) care for the "little ones" which appear to be those bright bugs, they seem to be related to the Fenito as care takers of the dead essentially. The singing heard throughout the area comes from the Milfanito, and the demon of song seems to just be unrelated? Or maybe whoever imprisoned that one maiden gave the key to the embedded to the demon? Perhaps Aldia? Seeing as how there are arch drake priests everywhere.

Still curious on who/what this is tho

Question Dark Damage

So I'm a little confused, I read that the Archdrake Staff is better than the Sorcerer's Staff, but for some reason my Sorcerer's Staff does more dark damage than my Archdrake Staff. Would anyone know why this is?

The rings I have on is the Ring of Binding and Life Ring

Lore Lore experts: Is the old paledrake soul the writhing ruin?

I know the writhing ruin is generally accepted to be some sort of form of Seath that still influences things in the world, but I was never really sure how that was happening.

I just saw the description for the old paledrake soul that says "This once magnificent soul continues to exert influence over the land, even after the eons have reduced it to these remnants."

Does this mean that the soul itself is the writhing ruin and is doing all the seath stuff?

Lore Doesn’t it seem kinda weird that the main boss of Crown of the Sunken King is Sinh?

From the lore we’re given, we know Sinh was basically just a god to the people. Dragons in Dark Souls are pretty much a rarity anyway, since I’m not even sure the ones we see in the Dragon Aerie are real and not homunculi made by Aldia. Sinh specifically looks like he’s straight out of the very first era, i.e. he existed before the First Flame.

But the thing that ruined the kingdom’s whole idyllic vibe wasn’t really Elana so much as the knights, who for some reason decided to kill this dragon. I don’t know if Elana was the trigger for that, but I don’t think so, because as we can see she’s still lulling the dragon to sleep and probably isn’t hostile toward it. Aren’t we supposed to be fighting the knights as the main antagonists or something?

Help Controller not working

I’ve tried a few things to get it to work, like enabling Steam input or whatever. The thing is, I’ve used this exact same controller before and played through the entire game without having to do anything. It also currently works with every other game I have (including the other fromsoft games) and even works outside games. Did a ghost patch drop recently that ruined controller compatibility or what? Because other than that I literally can’t imagine a reason for the same controller that’s worked with this game before suddenly not working, but still working for everything else.

Fluff Peak Physique

Finished DS2 today! Wasn't as nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The stuff with Vendrick and Nashandra is also pretty interesting, ahaha. Good plot. Dlcs were alright. I feel that the game has a lot of hallways in comparison to the first game. I got lost a lot.

Anyway, for the end of the game, I used chicken leg and onion as my gear. So goofy looking. I miss you, Siegmeyer of Catarina... For a majority, I swapped between Zwei and Dragon tooth!

Fluff No more arena today lol

Was enjoying the arena and managed to find a pretty good guy to go up against repeatedly but now there's a new dude by the name "state made me a terrorist" and when about to win the link always dcs and if if if if I manage to kill him before he pulls the plug like that. All my current worn items got destroyed instantly. I was spammed past his death in the arena and it burned thru my items durability. No wonder the other guy stopped showing up jeez

Blurred out the name so no hate gets this guys way.
I was just going through the game grinding for the plat and this guy invades me 3 times, we had some decent fights he was using mostly hexes and poison, and he had the left hand invisible ring which this was my first time seeing in game; when he did use a melee I managed to get some parries.
I tried to say ggs after I won the 3rd time but he had messages off, then a few minutes later he accuses me of lag switching… which is crazy because as you can see he only had 8 adp.

Like how you gonna beat the game deathless then not know what adp does? I mean maybe he just got someone to drop the ring for him? But why not go all out and use both invisible rings.

I see why ds2 pvp is glazed so much though it’s really fun; must’ve been so peak when the game was populated.
