Bike repair question Bike battery is finally giving up the ghost after 3000+ miles, need help with a replacement

So my battery is finally starting to diminish and has died on me a block away from the house several times now. I use it for my commute to work so I'd like to remedy this before it gets too bad.

I thought about getting one on Amazon and just replacing the mount as well but they all have XT60 connectors and the mount on mine right now seems to just go directly into the controller (there is an obvious point where the cables have been spliced and heat shrink over them, which I'm not opposed to doing myself, just not sure if it's the best route).

The exact matches I've found have all been on sites I've never heard of and want $500+. But seeing batteries on Amazon for $200 just makes that a hard pill to swallow. Battery currently is 48v 12.5Ah and 600Wh. I wouldn't mind getting one with some extra juice to last even longer. Any insight would be appreciated.

Bike is an AOSTIRMOTOR S07-B

Sondors LX rear hub (or wheel) replacement options?

Anyone with this e-bike (or familiarity with it) have a recommendation on a full hub (or wheel) replacement? My son recently got this bike in pretty good condition with low miles but sadly not too long after the hub failed completely such that the whole hub (not just the free body) needs replaced. This bike was a really large investment for him and I don't want him to get discouraged but I'm personally having great difficulty finding options that aren't wildly cost-prohibitive (custom wheel/machining) or aren't a big dice roll as they aren't confirmed valid replacement options.

The main issue is the config (full bolt/nut instead of through-bolted). Specs if it helps are it's 197mm hub (outer locknut dimension), cassette hub, six-bolt disc, 12mm axel (with 19mm nut).

Does anyone have any recommendations on sources or options for this given that Sondors has gone under? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Does anybody here have any experience with CTM ebikes in general and with the Roxxy GX Pro in particular. I am strongly considering getting one later this year but info re reliability seems sparse.

I have an actbest Speedy and after about three months I got into an accident and now I basically have a $500 paperweight. I tried to get a replacement wheel from the company but they don’t sell them and it’s practically impossible to find someone to rebuild the wheel is there anybody that has any ideas or knows someone who rebuilds wheels? I don’t know if someone would buy it for parts and I feel like it’s such a waste of space but I feel terrible throwing it out because it’s basically brand new.

Aventon Black Friday Prices

I'm considering purchasing an Aventon Abound LR for bringing my kids to and from school. I just received an email about early Black Friday access, with the Abound LR being $100 off.

Is that the best deal I should expect, or does Aventon offer further discounts closer to actual Black Friday?

Ebiking Red Rock Canyon, Nevada

Last week on our Las Vegas honey-bachelor (honeymoon/bachelor party), my wife and some friends rented ebikes and rode Red Rock Canyon's longest route. I highly suggest doing this. It was the highlight of our trip, even more than a random guy giving me $100 on Fremont Street.

We rented the bikes and they met us at a Park & Ride 4 miles outside of the park. There's 1.5 miles of bike path and then 2.5 if shared road. I suggest you save your energy on the way to the park and halfway through the trail; it's 13.5 miles, and there's a 1000-ft elevation from Mile 1 to ~5...I may have drained my battery at mile 4... totally worth it for the views and the wildlife watching. So many hares and wild burros!

When I do this again, I'll probably ask for a larger bike. The Velotric Fold was nice, but I felt a little cramped. I'm used to my Cannondale.

What's Going On With Luna Cycle Customer Support?

I've recently discovered a clanking noise in my bafang M600 motor and opened up a ticket to get Support. That was on Sunday and I still haven't heard back from Luna. I also e-mailed them on Monday and got back nothing but cricket's so far. I now have a $4,300 paperweight sitting broken in my garage that is my main transportation. I also tried the customer service phone number but that is now unfortunately out of service too. It's bad enough that things like derailleur hangers and other necessary replacement parts are always out of stock but now I can't even get my bike fixed. Has anyone else had these problems with Luna Cycle and if so how did it end up in the end?

Propain Ekano 3 AL Enduro vs Mondraker Zendit S — which would you choose?

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to decide between the Propain Ekano 3 AL Enduro and the Mondraker Zendit S, and I'd love to hear from people who have ridden either bike, ideally both.

The Zendit has been getting a lot of hype, while the Ekano appeals to me because of its customisable build options and the ability to choose components that suit my preferences.

Rather than comparing the stock builds directly, I'm considering a custom Ekano build with a total price close to the Zendit S, potentially slightly more expensive if the upgrades are worth it.

1. My intended build for the Ekano

My main priority would be upgrading both the fork and rear shock to Öhlins suspension, with a coil shock at the rear.

The idea is to build a bike that offers excellent traction, comfort and control on technical descents, without sacrificing too much comfort on easier trails and more relaxed rides.

Do you think an Ekano with an Öhlins fork and coil shock could outperform the Zendit S's stock suspension in terms of overall ride quality? Or is the Zendit's frame and suspension kinematics such a strong package that upgrading the Ekano wouldn't necessarily close the gap?

I'm happy to spend slightly more than the Zendit S if the resulting bike offers a meaningful advantage.

2. Does the Zendit live up to the hype?

For those who have ridden the Mondraker Zendit:

  • Does it genuinely feel as capable and composed on rough, technical descents as the reviews suggest?
  • Is the rear suspension as comfortable and grippy as people claim, particularly over rocks, roots and repeated hits?
  • Does it remain enjoyable at moderate speeds, or does it really come alive only when ridden aggressively?
  • How does it handle slower, tighter trails? Does the long, stable geometry make it feel cumbersome or less playful?
  • Is there anything about the bike that disappointed you after the initial excitement wore off?

I'm particularly interested in real-world ownership and riding impressions rather than just component specifications.

3. Ekano 3: rear suspension and bottoming out

One of my main concerns with the Ekano is the reports of its rear suspension bottoming out on hard landings and fast compressions.

Some reviews describe excellent small-bump sensitivity and traction, but mention that the rear suspension can use up its travel too easily on bigger hits.

For owners or riders who have tested it extensively:

  • Is bottoming out a genuine problem, or is it mainly a matter of finding the right setup?
  • Can it be effectively addressed through sag, compression settings and the adjustable bottom-out feature of compatible shocks?
  • Would a coil shock improve the situation, or could its linear spring characteristics make bottoming out more difficult to control?
  • Would an Öhlins coil shock, with the correct spring rate and damping setup, work particularly well with the Ekano's kinematics?
  • Can you achieve good bottom-out resistance without making the bike harsh over smaller bumps?

I'm interested in the suspension's behaviour under a heavier rider (90-94 Kg), too, rather than just average-weight testers.

4. Comfort and versatility

Although I intend to ride enduro trails, I won't always be pushing hard. I also want a bike that feels comfortable on longer rides, easier trails and days when I'm simply out enjoying the ride.

  • Which bike would you consider more comfortable over long distances?
  • Which one absorbs repeated rocks and roots better without feeling harsh or fatiguing?
  • How do they compare when riding at moderate speeds rather than attacking every descent?
  • Which bike offers the best balance between traction, stability and a lively, responsive feel?
  • Is the Zendit too focused on going fast, or is it genuinely versatile?

Comfort is important to me, but I don't want to sacrifice the ability to ride demanding enduro terrain.

5. Suspension upgrades: are they worth it?

Assuming I can get the Ekano's total price reasonably close to the Zendit S, would you choose:

  • Ekano 3 AL Enduro + Öhlins fork + Öhlins coil shock, with the rest of the build configured around my budget; or
  • Stock Mondraker Zendit S, with its factory suspension and integrated overall package?

I'd also appreciate opinions on coil versus air shocks for this particular frame, especially regarding small-bump sensitivity, mid-stroke support, bottom-out resistance and comfort on longer rides.

6. Other things worth considering

Are there any other important differences between these bikes that I should consider before making a decision?

For example:

  • Frame durability, bearings and long-term reliability.
  • Weight and how noticeable it is on the trail.
  • Handling in tight corners and technical sections.
  • Suspension performance under braking.
  • Pedal strikes and ground clearance.
  • Maintenance, servicing and component compatibility.
  • Any recurring issues reported by owners.

Final question

If you were spending roughly the same amount of money on either bike, which would you choose for technical enduro riding, while still wanting a comfortable and enjoyable bike for more relaxed rides?

Would you go for the Zendit S as a complete package, or build a customised Ekano 3 around Öhlins suspension?

I'd really appreciate feedback from anyone who has ridden both bikes, owns either model, or has experience running a coil shock on the Ekano.

Thanks!

Family riding in Michigan

EDIT Im 100% open to a class 1 bike that can be ridden for 50-60 miles at 15-20mph, using pedal assist, if anyone has a recommendation! Id rather follow all regulations, but Im hitting a wall with trying to find a happy middle ground. Even if its a bike that gets 30 miles on a charge, but has a swappable battery, Id be 110% open to that kind of option, as well!END EDIT

We're looking to buy long range e-bikes for our family. We came across bikes that are technically class 3, because they max at 28mph. Our kids wouldn't be allowed to ride without us, we would ride on trails approved for ebikes (there's a lot around us, so finding them is no issue), and we would limit our speeds to 18mph or less (our scooters go 18mph, and we feel its a good max speed for the family).

Does anyone have experience in going this route? Has anyone actually been stopped, while riding responsibly, and following set speed limits, even if the bike technically exceeds specs?

Our kids are absolute phenomenal kids. They're involved in all kinds of sports and extra curricular at school, they're constantly chosen for programs to help other kids (academically, as well as socially), and we definitely want something we can go somewhere, park, ride for a while, sightsee, grab a bite to eat, and ride back.

We all love being outside, and being able to have something that can realistically go 50-60 miles while maintaining a speed of 18mph would let us make an entire day of being outside, and be able to enjoy disconnecting from electronics (minus the bikes themselves, obviously lol) and just enjoy our own company as a family.

If anybody has any experience with this kind of scenario, all input is appreciated!

Bike purchase question Possible first Ebike recommendations?

My max budget is around $1,000 and I weight about 260 and I'm 5'11. I would mainly be using it for casual riding around and the occasional grocery run. Ideally 30mile range at least, and 20 mph is perfectly fine for me. Though I'd prefer if at all possible if auto electric mode was viable for the entire range hypothetically. I've never had or used an E-bike, and I'm not all that much of a rider, and not in the best shape, so either really good pedal assist or electric mode would be needed, at least starting out. I'm able to possibly extend budget if I found one that checked off all the boxes.

Yose 350w conversion kit - throttle unlock?

Hi everyone, I am looking to buy the Yose Power 36V 350W rear hub kit…

https://www.yosepower.co.uk/products/e-bike-conversion-kit-36v350w-26-27-5-28-rear-motor-for-freewheel-with-36v13ah-hl1-battery

I am looking to convert a hardtail into an e bike. I have heard rumours that this conversion kitl deep in the settings has a feature where you can turn it from an electric assist to a 20mph throttle… (I am riding on private land) Does anyone know if this is a thing on this model or any others? (I’m new to e bikes)

Thank you!
