This is the Convoy T9 a 2x 14500/AA flashlight with the LMP W5050SQ5 4000K LED, full aluminum body, featuring a Buck regulated constant current driver and more!
• Where to get it and Price
The Convoy T9 Tan with W5050SQ5 is currently priced at $22.04 on Convoy Official Website.
• My opinion
The T9 is like a throwy version of the T4, with a 3V 6A Buck driver and a bigger reflector to increase throw, the 2x 14500/AA design makes this flashlight very versatile and brighter with AAs than single battery designs, in addition to have longer runtimes. The W5050SQ5 LED in 4000K surprised me, it's very powerful, much like a SFT40, but with a much better rosy tint.
Some things I disliked about this flashlight were the abscence of a proper moonlight mode, the 1% mode is too bright, even when using AAs, probably more than 10 Lumens; for some reason, when using AAs on the 1% it has a strange slightly noticeable flickering, I'm not sure if this is a problem with my unit or across all units; also, it doesn't feature reverse polarity protection.

| No PWM |
|
| W5050SQ5 LED in 4000K has a very pleasant tint, even though it has low CRI |

• Body and build quality
Packaging: This flashlight comes in a pretty simple cardboard box, the flashlight and Lanyard are wrapped inside with bubble wrap.
Anodizing Colors/Material Options: The T9 is currently only available in Aluminum alloy with 4 anodozing colors: Black, Tan (featured on this review), Dark Green and Orange.
Main body/Grip/Size: The tail, battery tube and head all have knurling to improve grip, the grip is good, even when wet. The head also has grooves for heat dissipation. It's slightly bigger than the Convoy T4, with a bigger reflector - the T8 reflector - and head, increasing throw.
Material: The entire main body is made of an aluminum alloy - most probably 6061-T6.
Threads: All threads are trapezoidal, only the tail cap and bezel threads are anodized. The driver part of the battery tube threads aren't anodized, and they're pretty long.
Clip: The flashlight doesn't come with a clip. A stainless steel screw-in clip is available to be bought on Convoy website.
Tail stand and rolling: The flashlight rolls a lot, it has some edges that slightly slow down the rolling, but still rolls a lot. It can head/tail stand, though tail stand is not much stable.
Magnet: No magnet by default on this flashlight.
AUX lights: No AUX lights are present on this flashlight.
Buttons: This flashlight has a reverse click mechanical tail switch covered by a black silicone boot, this means that giving a half click while the flashlight is OFF will do nothing, but when it's ON it will cycle between brightness levels, SOS, battery check and other depending on the selected mode.
Battery contact: Contact is made with the battery by a gold-plated button contact on the driver and a phosphor-bronze gold-plated spring on the tail cap. I usually prefer springs on both ends to reduce the impact on the battery when the flashlight is dropped, but this button contact seems large enough to not dent the battery easily. [8th picture]
Bezel: It has a aluminum crenelated bezel with 6 trapezoidal shapes on it, it would be nice to see a stainless steel bezel on this flashlight instead of an aluminum one.
Water Resistance: Convoy flashlights usually don't have the IP rating, but all Convoy flashlights I already tested were decently protected to water ingress; The T9 follows the same pattern, it's probably better sealed than some IP68 flashlights I own. I belive the T6 to be at least IP67 with all threads greased and fully tightened - if not IP68, as all water ingress points have o-rings.
Size comparison: From left to right:
Convoy T4 Brass (2x14500) - Convoy T9 (2x14500) - Convoy T6 TiCu (14500) [9th picture]
• Weight and size
Weight:
- With battery (2x Vapcell K10): 131.5g
- Without battery: 91.8g
- Battery (Vapcell K10): 1x = 20.0g, 2x = 40.0g
Size: 162.6mm x 32.0mm x 21.0mm - (height x head diamter x tail diameter)
• Battery, runtime, and charging
Battery: The T9 is powered by 2x14500 Li-ion cells or 2xAA (Alkalines, NiMH...) batteries, as it has the dual fuel feature. This makes this flashlight very versatile, and more powerful using AAs than most single AA designs. I recommend at least 4A CDR for best performance. [10th picture]
Battery Indicator: It does not feature a color battery indicator, but a "battery check" mode is featured on some mode group configurations on the UI.
Powerbank/Reverse charging: No powerbank featured on this flashlight.
Charging: This flashlight doesn't feature charging on body, so you have to rely on battery chargers or batteries with USB-C charging (Li-ion).
• Modes, Runtimes, Throw, Candela
Modes: The T9 has the 12 groups driver, it comes pre-configured on group 1, which has 1%, 10%, 30% and 100% brightness levels. Other brightness levels - like 20%, 35%, 50% and blinkies - are available on the other brightness groups that can be configured on the flashlight UI.

Turbo: The 100% is essentially Turbo, the official information from Convoy says the maximum current is 6A at 3V for this driver. It's pretty bright, and powerful, at the rated power it should reach about 1500 Lumens.
Moonlight: This flashlight, sadly, doesn't feature a good moonlight mode, the 1% mode is too bright. The only way to make it a little dimmer is to use AAs, it's still a bit bright, but a little better than with 14500.
Blinkies: Tactical Strobe, SOS and battery check are featured on some group modes.
Lockout: This light only features mechanical lockout by unscrewing the tail cap a little. The mechanical button is the "lockout" of this flashlight.
Throw: There is no official advertised throw, but by the ratings I got were pretty good, around 300m for ANSI NEMA FL1 throw.
• Emitter, reflector and CRI
Emitter: This T9 has the LMP W5050SQ5 LED in 4000K, the emitter is pretty throwy, very similar to the SFT40 in shape and beam. The 4000K variant has a pretty rosy tint, being very pleasant and not greenish. The LED is very efficient and offers a pretty good tint, only lacks in CRI. [11th and 12th picture]
Lens: It features AR-coated glass lens that protect the reflector and LED.
Reflector/TIR: A smooth reflector with 26.5mm of diameter and 23mm of height.
Beam profile: The beam has a pretty clean spill with not much noticeable artifacts, and a focused strong hotspot that throws far, with a slightly smooth transition. [13th picture]
PWM: I didn't get any PWM on any tested mode of the T9 (1%, 10%, 30% and 100%), seems to be totally free of PWM, also, this supports to it having a Buck driver. **The 1% mode with AAs has slightly visible flickering, I am not sure if it's a problem with my unit or a general problem with the driver.
CRI-CCT-DUV: The CRI is pretty standard, I measured around 75 CRI, with very low R9, around negative to 7 R9; CCT was pretty close, getting around 3860K on the lowest mode and increasing to a maximum of 4400K on the highest; Duv is rosy, below BBL, scoring -0.0027 on Level 1, -0.0053 on Level 2 and increasing it slightly on higher modes. (The readings pictures are from Level 2) [14th to 16 picture]
• Driver and UI
Driver: The T9 features a Buck driver that delivers 3V 6A to the LED,
UI: The T9 uses the standard Convoy tail switch UI.

Low Voltage Protection/Warning: The main light will start blinking and dimming down when the battery voltage is low, until the light automatically turns OFF when the battery voltage is too low - only works with 14500s, AAs don't have this protection, as they are disposable.
Reverse Polarity Protection: NO reverse polarity protection. Be careful when inserting batteries.
Temperature Control: The T9 has standard Convoy Temperature control, so when the driver reaches about 55°C the flashlight will begin to step down. The step down seems to only be down to 30%, so the flashlight can still heat up, even after the step down, under certain conditions.
