I went to the skeff for lunch last week. I've had the same experience the last few times I've tried to grab some lunch the tables are dirty with plates that haven't been collected. Staff seem genuinely disinterested in serving anyone unless it's for a drink. I sat and waited at a table for 15 minutes and was never approached with a menu. I went to the bar to ask about food service and was told someone would be down to me. Staff just walked past my table a few times before I left. Is this normal for anyone else?

Hi folks,
Just a final push to try and raise awareness for the miniature painting meetup tomorrow night in Westside. I've had a great response from reddit before, with great feedback but it's always easy to miss small events.
There are still a few spots available and everyone gets their choice of an ork boy or fantasy adventurer, with paint and brushes available, so if you're interested come on down.
And if your sick of hearing about it, I promise this is my last post on reddit about it 😅

Hello! Does anyone know how I can go about joining the Order of Malta in Galway? I've emailed them but haven't heard anything back yet so I'm wondering is there a different way to get in contact with them or are they even taking new volunteers?

Can anyone recommend a warm swimming pool in Galway suitable for a 1.5 YO, ideally somewhere that offers PAYG swimming for non-residents?
We do Water Babies in a heated pool and would love to bring our little one swimming outside of lessons. We tried Leisureland recently but found the water quite cold.
Would love to hear of any hotel pools or other options with warmer water that are open to non-residents.
Thanks a million! 😊

The audacity to sell a house on Daft for 3/4 of a million with the beautiful modern pictures demonstrated being a protection of what it could like once you buy it and build it yourself
If this was on Taylors Hill I might not bat an eye, but in Furbo for f*ck sake

my friend will be visiting me in galway soon and i'm looking for the best places in town with vegan options to accommodate her (preferably a decent selection so she's not just limited to a single item 😭) brunch / dinner options if possible either in city centre or walking distance !

Had 2 contenders located right next to each other this evening. Captain’s Cabin & Dominos. Shockingly bad. Would you complain to them or vote with your feet and avoid ?

Opinion piece in the CT yesterday. Can’t link to it here but it’s on their website.
In the middle of a home renovation and wondering if anyone can recommend someone to do some wall panelling that won’t break the bank. Tia

As the title suggests I'm asking for a friend (not on Reddit) who travels from Oughterard to Galway City and back daily.
Any ideas?

Hi guys,
I am working tomorrow (Tesco knocknacarra) til 10.
I assumed the 411 bus wouldn’t be operating as it usually doesn’t at weekends past like 9/9:30..
I hear it’s promised really heavy rain and I have a 9 hr shift and it’s a 40 min walk home. I’m just wondering does anybody know if the 411 will be on Sunday times as usual and therefore not come or if it will come on Mondays time at 10:25 towards town? I assume so but when I googled to double check I got an AI overviews saying it is which I don’t trust.
Goggle Ai says it is running but you never can trust them. I’m just wondering if anybody knows so I’m not hanging around in the rain and can try sort a taxi or something cos I have twisted my ankle too!
Thanks guys and have a great bank holiday! I work in the offy and it’s gonna be mental from next week tip the new year lol 😂
EDIT, this is according to Goggle (but I always thought opposite which is why I’m asking. Maybe it’s new policy? But I don’t wanna wait and then only have to walk in the rain!):
Tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday), the 411 bus will run after 10:00 PM, meaning you will be able to get a bus home.
Why It Runs Tomorrow Night
While it is true that many regional services finish early on weekends, the City Direct Route 411 operating framework specifically maintains a 30-minute Sunday and Public Holiday schedule that runs straight through the night. The consensus among local commuters on r/galway confirms that the city routes strictly mimic Sunday timetables on Bank Holiday Mondays. [1, 2, 3]
Unlike Route 412 (which has no Sunday or holiday service at all), the 411 Sunday timetable provides continuous evening service with inbound departures from Mount Prospect running every 30 minutes up until 23:06

I took a lovely bracing post-storm wander up salthill prom to Blackrock. Its a really nicely developed amenity now. It was my first time seeing the Sauna! Does anyone have any background the history or on why it took so long to be developed..

With these strong winds and heavy rain this weekend has there been any signs of Macnas being cancelled ? Just making sure cause I’ll be coming from Kildare.

With fuel prices rising through the roof, I'm working on a simple app to make daily commutes way cheaper and more sustainable.
How it works:
Commuters: Post your regular routine or route, departure time, and available number of seats in your car.
Carpoolers: Find commuters heading your way and request a ride.
Cost: Carpoolers chip in to split fuel and tolls automatically. The cost of fuel and tolls will be calculated by the app based on car type, mileage, route, etc., to give an estimate of cost. Commuters can input their own price as well if they don’t think the estimate is enough.
Safety: Garda Vetting will be required for all Commuters and Carpoolers. Which will need to be submitted on the app.
Instead of an Uber-style ride hail, it's built specifically for regular daily commuting and planned trips to help everyone save money.
A quick question for you:
Would love your brutally honest thoughts!
Really appreciate all your help 🙏

We were fairly disappointed with the parade this year after waiting and hoping for something different or new to mark the 40th Anniversary. It seemed to be just a rehash of the last couple of parades. I didn't see one new float or display.
Definitely not worth the hassle of coming in

Hey all,
Not sure where best to post this, but hopefully it reaches a few people!
I’m thinking of starting a relaxed monthly book club for dads who want to make a bit of time for reading, or that already love a good book and just want to chat about it!
I’d like to focus on fantasy and sci-fi; think LOTR, dune, project hail mary and everything in between.
The discussions wouldn’t be anything too serious or intense, just a chance to have a chat over a couple of pints or coffees once a month.
The idea:
Meet once a month in a local café or pub.
Read a book every 4–6 weeks.
Share recommendations, chat about books and have a laugh.
No pressure if kids, work or life get in the way and you don’t finish the book!
You don’t need to be a big reader, and audiobooks absolutely count. Beginners are more than welcome.
I’m hoping to get 4–8 dads together for a first meetup and see how it goes.
If you’re interested, drop a comment or send me a message. Let’s get a few dads reading!
Bonus points for a good name! I’m thinking Fellowship of the Dads lol
