Discussion iPhone Duo + 8Bitdo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller
This is the best setup I have tried in years.
r/iosgaming • u/AutoModerator • 1d ago
Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!
As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!
To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.
Lastly, Rule #3: "No Dev Self-Promotion Outside Saturdays" applies at all times for this thread, even if it's actually Saturday.
r/iosgaming • u/AutoModerator • 3d ago
Hello r/iOSGaming! Welcome to another Developer Saturday showcase! In this megathread, iOS developers will be able share their games freely without breaking the subreddit's "no self-promo" rule. Please read the following guidelines carefully before participating:
That's it! We're still refining these guidelines, but for now these are the requirements developers must meet in order to ensure a successful self-promo comment this week. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us via modmail. Thanks for your cooperation, everyone!

This is one of the best TD games I've ever played, now updated to support the Duo and other modern devices. Update comes with new missions, maps and towers. If you haven't played it this is a must try!

I’ve been using the S8 for a few days on different apps like Moonlight, Sumee, and a few other apple arcade games that support the use of controller and after using other controllers like the Gamesir, Backbone or even the expensive MCON controller. The S8 has given me the most comfortable gaming experience out of any mobile controller i’ve used so far.
Magnetic hall effect sticks means no stick drift ever, the whole controller feels perfectly like handling an xbox controller with your beautiful OLED screen in the middle. The buttons are satisfying to click and theres even vibration on the apps that support it.
It even has two re-mappable buttons on the back that you can change through their also great app on the app store.
Their app is like a game launcher in it-self. Also containing the settings for your controller as well this is a great all in one hub to launch your games.
I appreciate the wide compatibility and am even thinking of investing in an 8.7 inch tablet to get the maximum use out of this controller. You can use this on IOS or android. Meaning even Ipad mini’s work on this device.
I’ve been using this in bed and on the couch and my hand never cramp and get tired like they do with the MCON. This controller is seriously comfortable. Even down to the thoughtful placement of the pass through charging cable that doesn’t block your hands and still gives you perfectly normal use of the controller.
The build quality is also great and the hinge doesn’t fill flimsy or as if I could break it on accident such as like with the Backbone. My phone feels protected inside with the rubber grips holding it in place, there’s no slipping at all.
This controller was only 45 dollars after tax through Amazon and it feels like I should have paid 80 or even 90 dollars for this premium feeling controller.
After this great experience with Abxy I’ve also preordered their M6 controller which can be found on kickstarter, you’ll even get a small discount if you sign up for their early bird. I’m sure this controller will be just as great of quality as the one I’m holding now. Im also excited for the inclusion of vibration support which even the MCON doesn’t have with its 120 dollar price tag.
All in all I love this controller and would purchase it again, like I already said it feels as if I should have paid double what I did.
Combine this controller with Moonlight on my desktop and i’ve made my own 45 dollar Steam Deck.

I remember this game that I used to play where you play as one of the girls and try to get as far as you can. It’s like I made up this game in my head, because I can’t seem to find it ANYWHERE! Like wiped from the internet. You hold the phone sideways and you can power them up. Maybe I’m thinking about another game but I am 99% sure that it was a powerpuff girl game and it’s keeping me up PLEASE HELP!!

I have an iPhone 17 pro max and my phone gets pretty hot when playing certain games, this causes the screen to auto dim and some games to limit frame rate, I’m also concerned about the longevity of the phone with it running so hot for long periods of time over the years. I’m considering trying a phone cooler but wanted to see if anyone else here uses anything like this and what their experience with them is and what recommendations they have for quality ones

A friend recently recommended Quintra and I’m hooked. It’s like scrabble meets poker and I am constantly trying to beat The Cheat. Anyone else played? https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quintra/id6809595343

I’ve only just downloaded this, but I looked up the reviews on steam some people with hundreds of hours into it. It looks like a very complex and interesting game where each run has very different outcomes each planet you visit is like its own episode of Star Trek from what I’m reading so far I’m really enjoying it. I suggest people check it out.

Looking to dip my toes in some incremental stuff and nothing too complicated though, Mr Mine is the sweet spot, looking for something similar.

Hi, I recently switched to apple and bought the 17 pro. I used an old Apple ID that I made for iPod touch 15 years ago and redownloaded tiny wings.
I love that game but I thought it’s pretty laggy at times. The phone should be able to handle it so I thought it’s a software issue? Or not optimised for 120 hz?
Anyone experiencing the same?
Thanks!

Looks like it came out a couple of days ago. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but more games is always good for the platform

I’ve searched high and low for mobile controllers and think my collection reflects the standard designs.
The small white one is the AceGamer pocket controller.
The larger white and clear model is the MCON.
And the black one in the foreground is the abxylute S8 Lite.
The AceGamer works well for short sessions, such as on a train or plane, but I would restrict it to lighter games because the sticks feel awkward. The MCON is a solid general option, though the phone’s weight and small sticks may cause fatigue.
In my view, the S8 Lite is the most comfortable for extended use and provides a Switch-like feel, particularly with pass-through charging. The main issue is that with two phones and three cases, none fit with a case, so removal is needed. Since I would use it at home or in a hotel, this is minor. Another benefit is that demanding titles like Death Stranding or Control make the phone heat quickly, especially with ray tracing; removing the case probably helps temperatures. I should mention rubber grips near the USB port that might allow case use, though I have not tested that yet, and the S8 Lite is also compatible with tablets, which I don’t own; that is a handy feature.
Are there other mobile controller form factors I’ve missed?
What’s the most important feature other than compatibility for your controllers?

As per title, I would like to have some suggestions about great iOS shmups. Fair warning: I'm a potato, so maaaybe don't suggest things like the DoDonPachi series (I haven't played the iOS ports, but if they're anything like the arcade ones, my survival times may be measured in seconds). I'll mention a couple games I'm playing atm if you'd like to know more about my tastes, but feel free to ignore them and suggest something completely different: I'm open to trying new stuff.
Phoenix HD
Phoenix 2
EDIT: wow, I didn't think a Sunday post on such a topic would attract so many answers! Thank you so much! 🙏

Obsessed with playing these ads- not so obsessed when I download them and they’re actually just merging 😒

Hey ya’ll just got an 18 pro max and I never really gamed on my phone so I’m wondering what I’ve been missing out on! I saw that the new Assassin’s Creed and some Resident Evil games are in there which is sick and I’m wondering what else is out there that I should check out.

Are there actually any decent games that are like these ads? I just want to be able to hop into something like this and not put much thought into it.
r/iosgaming • u/action_lawyer_comics • 1d ago
And no, it wasn’t “harder than you think,” it was super easy. But after getting the big orange bottle on the side maybe halfway full, it started spamming me with the store link. It popped up after every single play. But I kept going and managed to fill the big orange container.
I wonder if we’ll reach a point where these stupid, fake, ad-riddled games become “nostalgic,” and we’ll get people making actual good games from them. Maybe something like Luck be a Landlord or Raccoin where they add roguelike elements to a normally “unwinnable” game

Thinking of buying this to play on a flight. Can you play story/career without an internet connection?
Any good alternatives?
