I think we’ve had ENOUGH of Indian Railways and its constant delays.
Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, Tejas ,what’s the point of paying ₹5,000 for a premium experience if we’re still delayed by 2–3 hours? Whether it’s a 7-hour journey or a 48-hour one, punctuality shouldn’t be a luxury. It should be the bare minimum.
With winter approaching, the situation is only more concerning. Passengers deserve better planning, transparent communication, and accountability not just apologies.
We pay for a service, not uncertainty. It’s high time Indian Railways addressed this issue seriously.
What do you guys think?

This small Linen room, right next to the door
The attendant has created a bed which is equal to the seats using blankets.
And he took 4000 from 2 guys and have given then this whole cabin and have locked it from outside so that TT could not have any suspicions
Bihar to Bangalore train
Happened right in front of me.
Kisi bhi cheez me kamane ka zariya khoj lete hai log.
And the attendant was talking on phone - boosting about his jugad and that during Diwali and Chathh he will charge 6k per person and will get them seat (same Linen room)

Train No 14821 was attacked by theives, what is happening? I was reading the post on twitter and from there I got to know. If people are carrying knives - what do we have to think through the journey to be scared? or enjoy the journey with peace? Especially when travelling with family. I have never heard such cases but idk how common is it? What actually is happening?
Sharing the screenshot of the same

My train is running 4 hours late, and I’m going to miss office. Who is responsible for the time, money, and opportunities passengers lose because of such delays?
Shouldn’t Indian Railways and IRCTC be held accountable and provide compensation for avoidable delays?
How long will passengers suffer because of this “Chalta Hai” attitude?
It's time to stop normalizing “Chalta Hai” Attitude. Demand accountability, demand compensation, and demand better service

So, my mother was travelling alone from Kharagpur (KGP) to Jamnagar (JAM) after Durga Puja. We’ve been travelling on this train for around 15 years (just some extra context).
She was travelling alone this time and isn’t very familiar with all the travel logistics, so someone from our family dropped her at the station, and my father was supposed to pick her up at Jamnagar. We live in Jamnagar, and although our native place is around 4 hours from Kharagpur, we usually board this direct train from KGP.
Now, the funny part is that this train is almost always delayed by 6–7 hours when reaching Jamnagar. We’ve been travelling on it for years, so we’ve basically accepted that its scheduled arrival time is just a formality. 😂
Scheduled timings:
But this time, IRCTC decided to take things to another level.
15:30: I received a message saying the train had been rescheduled by 4 hours and 30 minutes. Instead of departing at 20:00 (as mentioned in the rescheduling update), it would now depart at 00:45 on 24 October.
I immediately smelled trouble. 💀
At least it wasn't cancelled, which was my first thought. I called my mother and told her to postpone leaving for the station.
The problem? The new scheduled departure at kgp was now at 02:25 on 24 October. That's the middle of the night, and my mother was travelling alone. My grandparents were accompanying her to drop her off, but they had a four-hour drive back home and couldn't realistically wait until 2–3 AM and then drive back, given their age.
20:00: My mother and grandparents left for Kharagpur anyway. Based on the usual four-hour journey, they would reach around midnight.
Thankfully, I have a cousin who works near IIT Kharagpur. Another blessing! 🙏 I figured the train probably wouldn't leave on time even after the rescheduling, so my mother went to his place instead of waiting at the station for hours.
00:50: Five minutes after the revised departure time. Checked NTES. Train hasn't departed. 😂
01:30: Still not departed. My assumption was looking pretty accurate.
01:30-ish: Checked again, and the train had finally departed at 01:16, already around five hours behind its original schedule.
We thought, okay, Shalimar to Kharagpur takes roughly two hours, so maybe it'll reach KGP by 03:30 at the latest.
04:10: The train finally arrived at Kharagpur, approximately six hours late. My mother boarded!
By this point, my sleep was disturbed, my mother's sleep was disturbed, and my cousin's sleep was disturbed. But at least she had boarded the train.
I was reasonably confident that things would be manageable because she was travelling in 3AC.
Little did we know what was coming next.
During the journey, the delay kept increasing: 6, 7, 8, 9... eventually 13, 14, and even 15+ hours.
At this point, everything was messed up. Even the Swiggy/Zomato delivery guys apparently got confused by the train timings. (There's also a bug in Swiggy that I discovered during this whole episode, but that's a story for another post. 😂)
The scheduled arrival at Jamnagar was 12:00 on 25 October.
Of course, none of us expected that to happen. Honestly, I can't remember the last time this train arrived at Jamnagar anywhere close to its scheduled time. We usually expect it in the evening.
But this time, even our adjusted expectations weren't enough.
Based on the train's progress, we estimated that it might arrive around 03:00 on 26 October.
Yes, 03:00 AM. The next day.
My father had to wake up and leave around 02:30 AM to pick up my mother.
26 October, 03:30: The train finally arrived at Jamnagar.
04:30: My mother finally reached home.
Let that sink in. A train that was supposed to arrive at 12:00 noon on 25 October reached at 03:30 AM on 26 October, and she got home at 04:30 AM.
That's roughly 16 hours beyond the scheduled arrival time, and the journey ended almost 17 hours later than planned.
We had mentally accounted for the usual 6–7-hour delay, but this time even that wasn't enough. 😂
1. The train itself was surprisingly good.
It was a 3AC coach with LHB coaches, which had reportedly replaced the old yellow ICF coaches just the previous week. The journey was comfortable, the coach felt almost new, the washrooms were cleaned regularly, pantry services were okay, and the train wasn't excessively crowded in terms of occupied seats, according to my mother.
So, despite the operational mess, the onboard experience was decent.
2. The train wasn't cancelled. This was the biggest blessing!
Seriously, if it had been cancelled, managing everything from Bengaluru would have been a massive headache. Rebooking, finding alternatives, coordinating with my mother travelling alone, and sorting out the pickup would have been a nightmare.
So, thank God it ran at all!
Anyway, my mother is finally home safe, and that's what matters most.
Just IRCTC things. 🥲🚆

Just came across this beta testing version for IRCTC's official website while looking up tickets.
It has a bunch of new features.
Are we gonna have a better website now?!?
