Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread

We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.

Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.

Use this thread to:

* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.

* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.

* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.

We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.

Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.

Do NOT:

* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.

* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.

DO:

* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.

* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

Halloween Activities for Adults Under 21?

• Upvotes

Basically the title. My friends and I want to dress up and do something for Halloween, but we’re at the awkward age where we can’t go to any 21+ events but can’t do little kid activities either. I want to do something/go somewhere where I can be dressed up and have fun outside of my apartment

Moving to Lincoln Is Lincoln a good city to move to?

As someone who is currently in Kearney, I’m wondering if I should move to Lincoln.

Would it be a mistake?

Some random info: I’m 18. I don’t like busy traffic, but I like having more options and stuff to attend. I’m introverted, and would love to live downtown if possible bc I like things being walkable lol. 😂

Thanks!

Looking for someone who can do repair work on vintage audio equipment. Looking at equipment from the 60s and 70s. Probably some cleaning, maybe some capacitor replacement, etc.

Any suggestions locally?

Around Lincoln To the two young kids on bikes

To the two teens on bikes in the McDonald’s drive through off Old Cheney…

Thank you for stealing our order, I hope the fries were wonderful and had a quenching Diet Coke. Despite only asking for free waters from the menu kiosk.

I hope dulling your soul for $5 to steal a fry and two drinks was worth it.

Sincerely,

The next car in line.

Pro tip: leave the scene of your crime instead of loitering in the parking lot in the Canes across the street.

Edit: This is supposed to be a humorous creative letter, I guess that wasn’t readily apparent. We got our food after a small wait and life goes on.

Missing elder cat- Leo- from 19th & Prospect

Post image
43 Upvotes

My parents’ cat Leo went missing, he was last seen last night (Saturday, 10/24) near 19th and Prospect Street.

He’s a 13-year-old cat, is very skinny but friendly, with a deep, hoarse meow.

He’s an outdoor/indoor cat, but usually stays on the back porch so we’re worried.

Please call (402)540-7521 with any info!

Looking for Recommendations Affordable massage therapist recommendations in Lincoln?

I’m looking for a good massage therapist in the Lincoln area, preferably someone reasonably priced. I’ve noticed a lot of places are pretty expensive, so I’d love to hear about any affordable options you’ve had good experiences with.
Thanks!

Recommend me a Car Mechanic

Hi,
I own Avalon 2007, and I guess there is some issue with either the Alternator or the Belt Tensioner / Idler Pulley because It's giving a whining sound.

Could you please recommend an honest and trustworthy mechanic who only fixes what actually needs to be repaired, without suggesting unnecessary repairs? I’m a student on a tight budget, and I only use my car for short local trips, such as grocery shopping. I’d really appreciate finding someone who offers fair prices and focuses on fixing only what’s necessary. TIA

Political spam is insane

I‘ll start with I don’t even live in Nebraska anymore, haven’t for a couple years now, but I kept my number cause I’ll always represent 402. All that said. I get around 10-15 calls a day from Ricketts and his goons. Please y’all, I’m begging, vote him out of there.

Before anyone asks, yes, I did change my voter registration after moving out of state.

Need employment lawyer recommendations for termination from job because of an undiagnosed disability

Has anyone been improperly terminated from a job while they are in the midst of getting a medical diagnosis for rapidly increasing performance issues?

It turned out I had a major medical issue, but it wasn't diagnosed until after termination, even though management and HR were fully aware I was working with my doctor and specialists to determine what was causing the problems I experienced.

The good news is the specialist immediately found the issue after a few appointments and scans.

The bad news is my former employer was far more interested in degrading and firing me, ignoring my updates regarding working toward a diagnosis.

The best news is I'm functioning better than I have in a decade, but I'm sad my manager had zero concern for my health and just wanted to get me out of the job before a diagnosis was found. I didn't drag anything out or hide what I was doing. I was fully up front with my manager and HR, but their actions to quickly terminate me make me feel I made a mistake.

Thanks in advance.

Bars without "skill games" aka slots

Are there any bars left in Lincoln that for sure do not have a slot machine in them? The several I have been to all do now.

I know someone who wants to go out, but also does not want to be around those machines due to past gambling problems.

Mechanic needed

I have an 03 Buick lesabre with a couple issues I think are somewhat simple issues. The problem is I don’t have a ton to spend. It is just a work car so I’m not too worried about it but also why I don’t wanna dump a ton of money into it. Anyone recommend of a really good priced mechanic in Lincoln that’s willing to help me out?

In Lincoln Nebraska

33rd and Holdrege

Kwik Shop

Bicycle: Surly Crosscheck black frame and forks.

Shimano SPD pedals. Shimano chrome crank set and ring.

ACS rims with new Kenda tire.

Drop handles with shifters on the bar ends.

Dark Brown handle wrap with lots of wear and lighter brown brake hoods missing the top half completely from a recent wreck.

Brooks B17 brown leather saddle.

Blue JBL Bluetooth clip speaker. Custom LED front light with wiring to 9.6V battery under the saddle. Detachable rear led. 1 chrome with brown leather water cage. There is a noticeable large chip out on the top bar. Rear brake disconnected, back wheel out of true from wreck. Litelok U lock mounted under top frame rail

(Repair appointment canceled)

While at this location, a tech on a repair ticket, my bicycle and preferred method of transportation was removed from the premises without permission.

I was onsite the previous day for 6 hours with no issues and returned to commit a config change and complete the ticket

The bicycle was parked by the front window, behind an advert for cigarettes, unlocked as the presence of a suitable location to lock with a u lock was not available. Expected time of repair was very small and the store has extensive security coverage with all new cameras (All Kwik Shops nationwide were changed this year)

LPD responded to the call about 5PM when it was discovered.UNLPD was notified. Several bike shops were notified.

I posted to FB marketplace and here to notify my community of the theft, provided pictures from the security footage (which I procured from the store video recordings with the assistance of the team managing the corporate systems).

The police were able to view and document the incident immediately rather than the normal delay of weeks (which is disgusting, the pony express was faster). I captured images and video of the display and am working to get the actual files.

I posted this to help me find an expensive bike (2000$ for like replacement), as it is my primary transportation method, by choice. Yes I enjoy riding my bike, not motor cycle, while, etc.. I could drive my wife's car or my pickup, but it saves little time and encourages the consumption of resources. The car also molds that young virile soul into an obese, vile old person that bitches about everything, you know what I mean Karen.

Yes I didn't lock it, Yes I had a lock on the bike. Yes I know that it's easily taken BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT OKAY TO TAKE MY BIKE OR TAKE DOWN MY ORIGINAL POST FOR WANTING MY BIKE BACK

I am posting pictures of my bike here, pictures of the person who took it and asking for help to get my bike back. The thief has been present in the area before and already has enough problems in their life as do I.

Thanks for any help to find it, any fire department will hold lost bikes.

Looking for Recommendations Solo date dinner places?

My date cancelled…he got sick! So I wanted to find a place in the haymarket that’s good for a solo dinner and drinks tonight. Tipsy Tina’s is good but I’d like to try something else. Any recommendations? ☺️
