Please wear a mask if you’re coughing in class / library / exams
It is considerate to your fellow classmates to avoid getting them sick as well.

It's already that time of the year

Hello, a student had made false reports (distorted information) to the administration using evidence-free mechanisms that the university has should students choose not to get an independent lawyer through the OMR to verify the situation and institute official reciprocal exclusionary measures. Unfortunately for me, the evidence-free mechanism was abused by the student. The situation quickly spiralled into a period of chronic traumatization for me as I felt suddenly harrassed by the student and the administrators involved, as well as by rumours the student began to spread in attempts to isolate me from my peers. It felt like pseudo-criminalization and a verdict without trial, which i think shouldnt even be legal. I have found some people who have gone through similar experiences, but I have yet to hear if anyone who has experienced anything like this successfully had their case heard by McGill, pursued a lawsuit, or if the OMR was willing to take their case seriously? Let me know if you have experienced anything similar and how you navigated the false reports and accusations. This has had deeply damaging psychological consequences that i am still dealing with

I've been sick for a few days now, and I couldn't go to the midterm, so I was thinking of taking the makeup exam today, but I'm still not feeling that well, and I'm pretty sure I'm underprepared. The final grade will be 90% of the final exam if I skip the midterm. Do you guys think I should skip it? Also, let's say I start studying early for the final, will I be able to do well?

My family has a condo in old montreal and we travel to montreal 10-15 times a year.
My teen is planning on going to McGill next year but we are debating on if they should stay at the condo or in residence.
On the plus side they would have their own space. A nice location. No roommate. Access to amazing facilities. And we could frequently visit. Plus we would save that money.
I’m concerned about isolation and making friends during events that different residences hold.
Plus the additional time it would take to grocery shop and cook since it would be an entirely self sufficient experience - no meal plan.
Would love some feedback. Locals at least have an established social network so even if they don’t meet friends in residence or in class they have friends and a network of people.
But we are from Ontario.
Thanks!
how hard is the midterm? I’ve attended most lectures and taken notes but i neglected to do any of the readings and am now realizing i am 500 pages behind and the midterm is next wednesday. How screwed am I?

22y/o guitarist looking for intermediate-advanced, committed musicians to start rock band.
I am a 3rd year undergrad physics student and I enjoy bands like Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Cream, The Strokes, The Doors, MBV, Led Zeppelin, etc.
I want to start a rock band that draws inspiration from those bands (and similar ones) and rehearse at least once a week, preferably on weekends.
Looking for drums, bass and keys. I have a space in Verdun that I am converting into a dedicated jam space. The idea is to eventually play bar gigs and write originals.
DM for info and questions!

For people who took this class, how was it? Workload wise + grading

Last I checked on graduating statistics in 2022, they always tracked gender, international, full-time/part time.
https://www.mcgill.ca/es/registration-statistics/fall-2022
The closest thing i could find is for Phd in life sciences taken in 2025 found here:

It's not like measuring this data point is hard to do. Deciding to not show it is certainly a choice, especially at a time when men and women are increasingly graduating at diverging rates.

I give French conversation tutoring sessions. I need a spot on the downtown campus that isn’t in a library and is accessible without an ID. The ambient noise must be low and not distracting so we can hear ourselves talk. (So the cafeterias aren’t an option.)
Any nice, calm spot suggestions?
TIA

Hi all. I’m graduating with a BA this coming spring from an institution in the U.S. and have started looking into Religion MA/ MDiv programs. I’m curious what the vibe is like at McGill generally, but more specifically what it’s like for graduate students in the School of Religious Studies. Thank you for your time.

I'm doing my application for exchange to McGill, I need to nominate my classes and annoyingly 2 of them are 4 credit classes, so I have 8/12 credit points and need to fill the rest. The other classes will be hard and I would like the supplementary classes to be easy/not a big time commitment.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to avoid taking more than 12, my goal is to have the lightest academic load possible for the exchange so I can enjoy myself. Are there 1 or 2 credit classes? Are there any easy 4 credit classes? Thanks

I don’t have any lab experience or any lab skils.
I have an interview this week with the director of a lab on neurology/genetics, and I am kind of scarred.
In my initial email, I told the prof that I have no research experience, so idk if it is going to be a big issue.
Do you guys have any advices on how I can prepare myself ? Also, I really don’t know what a student with no experience can do in a lab, so if I am asked a questions about what roles I want to have, what roles are appropriate for a new student ? Any advice is really appreciated

hey guys, is anyone taking psyc 213 this term? i didn't do too well on the first exam and i'm honestly kinda lost on how to prepare for the second one
i know a lot of people found the exam pretty easy so i'm lowkey embarrassed to even ask lol. to be fair, i somehow only realized the exam was in 2 days so i definitely didn't prepare enough, but i also felt like some of the questions were oddly specific? like the ones asking about the differences between cognitive psychology, neurocognitive psychology, etc. idk if it's just me but i don't remember us going into that much detail in class?
i also don't have the textbook, so i'm wondering if that's where those details came from or if i just missed something.
for anyone who did well, how did you study? were the lecture slides enough or is the textbook actually important? and how did you test yourself on the material?
just trying to figure out what to do differently for exam 2 lol. any advice would be appreciated🙏🏻

If you lost a computer pencil in Burnside last week write down the color and the brand and I’ll happily return it to you!

I’ve been feeling really sick yesterday and today and can barely leave my dorm room. I have a doctors appointment for tomorrow at urgent MD but I’m worried I won’t be better in time to study for or take the ling201 midterm this Wednesday. What do I do? Does anyone who is taking or has taken ling201 know if there’s an excused absence policy? Or do I just push through and study / take the exam feeling like hot garbage? Should I even bother telling the prof? Should I just rest up and hope I’m capable of cramming last minute?
does the wellness hub do flu shots? i’m also unsure of what the wellness hub can do in general, all i’ve heard is that it’s impossible to get appointments 😭
anyways also i’m an international student if that affects anything

I’m currently taking COMP 250 at McGill, but I’m considering withdrawing from it with a W on my transcript.
I was wondering if I would still be allowed to take the equivalent course (COMP 352) at Concordia as a visiting student in a future semester and transfer the credits back to McGill.
Does withdrawing from a course at McGill affect my eligibility to take its equivalent at another university?
Has anyone been in a similar situation or successfully done this before?
Thanks in advance!
