New Rules in Place

Hey all. If you haven't noticed there has been a huge spike in NSFW content making its way into the sub. I have no interest in that here and there is another sub dedicated to NSFW Minot content.

With that I am working on adding some new AutoMod rules and as I add them I will update this post with what has been done.

The first one added requires you to have a verified email or phone number with Reddit in order to post here. I hope this doesn't place an undue burden on people who want to participate but I think this is a good first step. If you have any comments or suggestions I am happy to listen.

Thanks

Anyone know a local business that could use a website redesign?

Hi! I’m a web designer with some extra time on my hands, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to help a few local businesses.

I’m looking to redesign a few websites for free and am open to different types of businesses. If you own a local business and feel like your current web design could use a refresh, feel free to share a little about your business and what you’re looking for.

Would be nice to work on something new and explore different design ideas!

Shooting land public

Just got PCS'd here from Florida and have been here for about a month now and was wondering if anyone knows of any public shooting areas preferably outside. Back in FL we had a place called the Berms in a public forest almost it was an area designated for firearms open 24/7 so it was pretty cool me and few buddies would go out every now and then at night with our nods. Really don't want to go to a place either where a crazy range officer who shouts every time you shoot more than 5 rounds in a quick succession. Thank you in advance

Cars of Minot Looking for a Minot-area Polaris Ranger owner to test a free dump bed lift kit

Hi everyone! I’m Pablo from Progressive Automations. We’re looking for a Polaris Ranger owner in the Minot area to test a new electric dump bed lift kit. The opportunity is also available to owners elsewhere in the United States and Canada.

Compatible vehicles:

  • 2022–2026 Ranger SP 570
  • 2022–2026 Ranger Crew SP 570
  • 2017–2021 Ranger 500 2X4
  • 2016–2023 Ranger 570 or Crew 570
  • 2022–2024 Pro XD Mid-Size Gas or Crew Gas

We’ll provide the complete kit and cover shipping at no cost. In return, the selected tester would install it, confirm its fit and operation, share a few photos, and provide brief, honest feedback.

There’s no purchase or promotional obligation. Technical support will also be available if needed.

If you’re interested, send me a DM with your Polaris model, year, and location. Thanks!

Short notice hometown Music Set

Hey Minot,
I’m originally from here and flying in tomorrow (Thursday) for a quick weekend visit. My uncle’s funeral is Saturday afternoon, so I’m only in town for a couple days.

While I’m here I’d really like to do a short set of my music on Thursday/Friday/Sat night whatever day works. I’m (modern/hip hop style). I’ve already reached out to a couple spots but haven’t locked anything down yet.

If anyone knows of any open slots, open mics, karaoke nights that let locals hop on, or just has a contact at a bar that books live music, I’d really appreciate any leads. I’m flexible on timing and can send tracks if needed.
Thanks in advance would mean a lot to play at home while I’m here!!!!

I know this is perhaps one of the more obvious places to shoot in town but I came away quite pleased with these images and thought I’d share them in the sub.

1/2 cow recommendations?

We are looking to buy either 1/4 or 1/2 cow near Minot (2-3 hour drive would be okay, too). Does anyone have any recommendations? Our non-negotiable is that is has to be locally raised. If anyone has bought one recently, what is a fair price/lb?

Question has anyone lived in the "ARTSPACE LOFTS" downtown?

I'm thinking abt renting with them and was wondering if anyone has any recent experiences they'd like to share. I can't find a lot of reviews and none more recent than 4 years old. It's low income but it looks nice for what it is and it's right in the middle of Minot.

Was in a discussion about accountability of our "leaders" in government and this is how the co-owner of Magic City Day Care responded. Just thought people with children at his day care would like to know who is looking after their kids.

Question Deaf/Hard of Hearing community/resources?

Hi! I’m looking at relocating from Canada to attend the university, and my son is unilaterally deaf. Is there a strong d/Deaf community in or around Minot? Daycares or preschools that utilize ASL? I’ve been doing some research and I don’t think accessing audiology and specialized care will be an issue, but I’m having trouble finding information on the community aspect. Thank you for any information or leads!

Tips for getting through the winter

Not looking for sympathy but I am looking for good tips on keeping one’s mental health intact through the winter here. Mines already not looking good so I’m pretty worried about the winter. Does anyone engage with Minot Vets for Vets? I’m going to attend their next event but if anyone has any other tips I would appreciate it. I’d prefer not to end up like Jack Nicholson 🪓 this winter. I’m 40 M for what it’s worth, first winter in Minot and completely isolated
