International roaming with Mint in Japan sucks

My wife and I recently returned from a one week trip to Tokyo and Osaka and we both had awful experiences with our Minternational Passes. We activated our passes prior to leaving the USA to avoid any issues with activation, however, upon landing my wife's phone (Pixel 3a XL) could not connect to any mobile networks. We tried all the suggested troubleshooting steps, turning airplane mode off/on, rebooting, etc. We finally got her phone working after a few hours by manually updating the APN settings, but it was not easy because the automated phone support gave us incorrect APN settings at first. I finally had to use WiFi to visit the web support page to find the correct APN settings.

My phone (Pixel 8a) did connect to a mobile network upon landing, but the network was completely unusable beyond sending/receiving SMS text messages. Websites would take minutes to load. I was mainly trying to use Google Maps to navigate us to our hotel, and that would take minutes for a route to load, and then it would often fail and give me an offline error. I tried running a speed test, but even that failed to load. Following the same troubleshooting steps, including manually updating the APN settings, didn't work for me. I was finally able to get usable data speeds my manually selecting a different roaming network, but that network wasn't always available so I found myself periodically having to test multiple roaming networks to find one that worked. All in all, it was a pain in the ass and I will never trust Minternational roaming again. Next time, I plan to purchase a local SIM card.

After our return, I tried requesting a refund and was told Mint doesn't offer refunds on Minternational Passes, even if you encounter major issues using them.

Mint Family Discount Questions.

I just got an email saying I could get 2 lines unlimited for $50. $30 for the first line $20 for the second. You had to sign up 3-Month Unlimited Plan with Autorenew.

Our plan renews soon so I switched. But when I switched both lines were $20 a month. Is this a glitch? Did I mess something up? Do I just not understand how the deal works?

I’m waitingggg on the IPhone 18 pro max to drop again. Does anyone know when they’ll drop or how it worked in the past with the newest IPhone coming out?

Mintmobile phones with plan bundle - can I use with another account?

I need a new phone and there are some bundle deals that include one year $180 plan - still the price is a bit better than Amazon/Bestbuy. But for obvious reasons I would want to use it with my old number, either SIM or eSIM, and the new plan would serve as a backup internet or I'd give it away to a friend. Is that possible, or the phone must be used with the specific plan in the bundle?
