Garden Design and Installation - Native and Non Native Plantings
Looking for design and installation of a structured mostly native garden in Columbus, Ohio. I've given up on trying to make my front beds look good and need someone to transform my yard. Need suggestions from people who have had gardens designed, not names of friends. It will be a medium sized project going from hot afternoon sun to dry thick shade.

Southwest united states Could Yuma Sandmat be used as topiary?
I have been trying to figure out a native plant option (southwestern united states desert) for making a shaped topiary, the wire kind that a plant grows atop of basically. The usual set up is using chicken wire to sculpt a figure, packing sphagnum moss on the frame as a growing medium, and planting into that. My concern would be the sphagnum moss could be too water-retaining for the yuma sandmat. Was curious if anyone with more experience had any input. Thank you

Location Is this a problem ?
I'm in zone 6B. This butterfly weed is about two years old. This is the first summer I've seen these bugs. Always one or two. To my surprise I found this today. How big of a problem is it ? what should I do ? This was the first summer I had butterfly visitors and I don't want to mess that up. Thanks

Weaving ground cover in prairie garden bed
I just planted a prairie garden which will fill in nicely and be awesome. However, I really was hoping to weave in some pretty ground cover-like Veronica speedwell- for weed control and soil erosion. My husband says just to let it fill in and it will be great in 3 years.
Has anyone used gc in between/below perennials within the beds?

Location Water bamboo sighting - potentially ecologically devestating
galleryI’ve noticed a huge increase in prohibited water bamboo sales (aka jiaobai 茭白, Zizania latifolia infected with Ustilago esculenta) being sold both in Asian grocery stores and online on the USA. If the associated fungus Ustilago esculenta escaped and successfully infected American wild rice (Zizania palustris/aquatica/texana), it could devestate American wild rice stands

Location Any way to plant seeds this fall? Northern Kentucky - 6b
I came into a bunch of native wildflower seed mix for free that was collected locally. It's enough for about 1/4 acre and I have the space but the turf isn't prepared yet.
It's too much seed to grow in containers and transplant individual plants in the spring and I'd hate to try to store it for a year. I know a lot of it won't germinate if I wait to plant it until next winter.
I know it's too late to use glyphosate or to solarize. I could use a sod cutter but I'd hate to lose 1/4 acre x 2" of perfectly good top soil. Another idea I had was to mow the area as low as my mower will go then burn it all with my weed torch. Will that do enough to kill the existing turf? It's a mix of grass and weeds right now.
Are there any other methods I'm not thinking of that would allow me to get these seeds out by early winter (early December)?
