After hours and hours of rage and multiple controller throws later, I've finally completed Nioh 1!! A game of many highs and many MANY lows lol, but overall I had a freaking blast playing through this one. Definitely a new team ninja fan, I have never played a game that has such a good "flow-state" as this one
It took me quite awhile for the combat to "click" and get comfortable with it, but once that happened I was glued to it all the way through. Stance switching and weaving combos in/out of stances with ki pulse and block timing activated neurons in my brain that I didn't know I had. Not to mention all the RPG stats/build chasing kept that "hook" all the way through.
Really excited to play Nioh 2 soon!! Any good (nioh 2 specific) tips before I dive in?

And my god what a hard game... Nioh 2 and 3 dont even come close in terms of difficulty and unfairness level lmao
So much one shot attack from bosses and with two hits from a normal peasant ure all cooked. Altho 2 and 3 have more agressive bosses and enemies they dont basically one shot you and you have soulcores to recover from Ki damage while in Nioh 1 its just when god allows... and he doesnt

I mean in what "style" you play? Do you play like a cautious onmyo magic/ninjutsu user and wait for openings/opportunities to attack? Or you are just a "random bullshit go" like me?
I dont focus on build but i do use onmyo and ninjutsu (especially the toxic shuriken in bosses) and i just play it without a plan... it do works on Nioh but in Dark Souls im cooked
Thats why i love Nioh: even as a hard game it doesnt forces you to think too much about "tatics" or memorizing bosses moviments... you can just git gud and be agressive while acctually enjoying the combat
Baba nobuharu, Oni Mino the Immortal
Seriously seeing him in a demon form makes me thought there are going to have battle of Nagashino in Nioh3

Here's my suggestion on how ninja style could be better balanced with samurai in terms of versatility: merge the two control types. Samurai style has the same inputs as Nioh 1/2, with Guardian Spirit abilities on Block+Up/Down or Block+Left/Right. Ninja style would then split it's martial arts inputs between Block+X and Block+Y, and Forward+X and Forward+Y. Alternatively, you could do Forward+Y and Back+Y, or some other combination. This would greatly improve the variety of Ninja Style, especially for the splitstaff, which doesn't even get Hold Y inputs because of fluid form.
That, and giving every weapon a Ninja and a Samurai version would be perfect.
Took a small break to platinum a few games after beating and getting the platinum in Nioh 3. I played a little today and my timing and combos are shit🤣. Can anyone offer some advice as I get into ng+ dlc territory, I’m thinking I’m just gonna go practice in the dojo for a while.
Any advice in the meantime will be appreciated

Hey everyone. I am looking for some help to clear the way of the demon dlc missions . Level wise I am 300, +23 dual swords and +15 armor . I have went through the first 2 areas of way of the wise but the DLCs seem way to hard for me . I would appreciate some help 🙂 I play on play station.
There are so many different ninjutsu to use in the game, but you are locked to only using three of them at once. I believe you should be able to hold r1 and then press r2 to swap to a second pallet, which functions similarly to wo long’s skill and magic systems. I think this should be in a patch or an addition in the final dlc.

I got this in the middle of my WOTSt run from a revenant drop. Now I'm just starting out with WOTD. Looks like a god tier set of special effects (but do tell me if it still needs some reforging). With this list of special effects, should I just keep this until end game by just soul matching, or should I wait for newer drops? I'm kinda worried soul matching is be very hard on gold.
As for the armor, I already have a pretty good set of 7 Misfortunes & 8 Hardships + Samurai from the Dark Lands buff going on with pretty okay special effects. I was surprised with the power creep WOTD gear drops. Is it more economical to just forge or get from loot?

Does anyone have Nioh 1 on Epic Games and is your overlay working?
My overlay worked a few months ago, now it's not working. I tried reinstalling the game, reinstalled the launcher, tried the beta launcher, tried different resolutions, tried borderless, fullscreen, windowed, nothing works. I can't bring up the overlay. It works in other games. I can't see my achievements at all.

Curious if anyone is running a pure (or near pure) magic build and what that would look like?
I’m in NG+ and would like to experiment with something drastically different 😀

I finished Nioh 3 today and for me they both look very strong (unfortunately we don’t yet know Takechiyo’s full potential). They both are time travellers, both won against terrifyingly strong demons, both possess somewhat similar powers.
Personally, I’d pick Hide for now. What do you guys think?
Thanks to the help I received here I have figured out the best defense trophy BUT now I need 10 Samurai skill points to finish learning them.
What’s the easiest way to get late game Samurai skill points? I’ve beat the game. Tried rekilling Chijikos. No luck there. What to do?
Hey everyone! I’m a veteran of the first game, and while I really enjoyed the third one, I’ve noticed from this subreddit that most people consider the second game the best in the series. Personally, I didn’t like it at all - I ran into some major difficulty imbalances where I felt completely helpless, and enemies would one-shot me. I’ve reinstalled the game, and I’m determined to finally beat it properly - in a way that actually lets me enjoy it. What should I focus on? What might have been preventing me from having a good time? My biggest issue with the second game was the Soul Cores; I just never found them useful. I know they don’t consume stamina and can be used to extend combos, but I only found a handful of them practical (for instance, Ippon-datara is the best). Honestly, though, I had plenty of other issues with the game.
The first time around, I played a ninja-style build using a kusarigama, throwing shuriken, kunai, and so on.
This time, I want to play through using a strong build and perhaps get a better grasp of the mechanics - even though I usually feel like I’ve already know them.
Could you offer some advice? What are the core pillars of Nioh 2? What makes it easier to understand compared to the other games in the series? How do I actually conquer this game?

Bit of a weird thing to try and emulate but I really liked how those bastards Saito Toshimitsu (Nioh 2) and Kajiwara Kagetoki (Nioh 3)used Omyo magic and interweaves into his weapon combos and I wanted to try and emulate that myself in Nioh 3. Obviously there are limitations to this since we don’t have access to Saito’s mechanics, spells or elemental integration like he has but I want to use what I can to emulate it.
Notes:
- Finished NG++.
-I use awakening for quick spell usage.
- I use most weapons so I’m happy to see your recommendations.
- I don’t want to be insanely OP and use the hell/shock/gust/fire/bubble spells.
- My build right now is focused on life recovery via Amrita absorption with the extraction talisman, life leech talisman, martial arts proficiency and set bonuses inlcuding Iga Escape Conspirator and Amaterasu with Susano thrown in the mix for ki damage purposes.
- My spells include extraction, life leech, blessed bolt, explosive shit, cutting blast and geyser shot.
- MyOmyo Box consists of Sunakake-Baba and Nuppepo.
- I interchange guardian spirits.
-I am trying also to employ shadow ninjutsu arts such as infernal calamity and glacial calamity as well to further have that Omyo battle mage build vibes.
Essentially I’m looking for any build, skill, set advice to achieve this if I can.
Cheers!

Nioh 1 and 2 had that traditional UI with 3 corners of the screen each with their UI element like Health Bar, Item wheel and Stance Wheel. The boss health bar is in the bottom center iirc. We don't count the translucent radar lol
Wo Long changed that to where due to the game having a positive negative spirit system, the spirit bar being symmetrical and in the centre of the screen made it better to read and to avoid clutter, they probably bundled the health and estus count above it and made the UI focus on the bottom of the screen with only the boss health bar on the very top alongside the boss's spirit mechanic.
Nioh 3 adopted the same center placed health bar + stamina + spirit stuff and focused the UI to the bottom of the screen instead of 3 distinct corner like 1 and 2.
so sticking our Nioh games, which of these two styles do you guys prefer and deem as a better style of UI overall? i feel like i prefer Nioh 2 where it's just sort of a comfort UI where the health bar rightfully feels like on the top left of the screen like im used to thanks to dark souls.
Surprisingly I kinda feel ninja's dodge is harder then samurai's deflect on this boss
Don't know why
