Oil prices tumbled on Monday morning as diplomatic efforts to calm the Iran war gathered pace and US President Donald Trump said he was weighing a deal with Tehran.
In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Trump framed multiple new statements as a choice asking, "do I make a deal with them, or do I finish them off?"
In regards to the attacks:
“Do you really think I would tell you that? Maybe tomorrow… There’s a possibility I will. There’s also a possibility we’ll have a nice, big, beautiful agreement. They tell me they want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?”
“Now, my question is, do I make a deal with them, or do I finish them off?”
This morning Pre-market:
“I have a big decision to make today: Do I finish them off, which would be very easy to do, we could do it swiftly. Or do I make a deal? That’s all.”
“Remember we now control the Hormuz Strait. We own the oil and they get nothing. We get everything. They get nothing.”
Oil supply risks have not gone away as the Houthis said they struck Saudi airports and new oil energy sites again over the weekend, while Riyadh reported shooting down further missiles and drones.
President Trump referenced that Gulf crude exports, excluding Iran, returned to pre-war levels this month, according to the ship-tracking firm, but around 40% of them now bypass the strait through pipelines, compared with 17% before the conflict.
