Fork adding smooth zoom and fly-to behaviour
Fully working, tested fork of OpenTTD, adding smooth zooming support and fly-to navigation.
Much nicer IMO.

I have a line going through some cities. It is served by smaller passenger trains and faster express passenger and mail trains. How do I ensure the faster trains can overtake? Is there a difference in ideal approach if the faster trains serve only a subset of stations? Should I use waypoints?

I am struggling to make this setup work. I have a lot of passenger traffic going from the town of Gryttbyn in the upper left corner and the oil rig in the lower right. Helicopters cannot support the volumes so I have set a transfer port up in Lilla Snyttudde to the right. I have given ships the order to travel passengers between the rig and the port, and then a train to transfer traffic between the transfer port and the town to the upper left. However, neither train nor ship loads any passengers. The go empty from port to port, and the passengers are stuck at Gryttbyn and the oil rig as the airport is overloaded with traffic.
How do I make passengers take the boat and the train?
EDIT: Cargo distribution is asymmetric for passengers, mail, and valuables.
PS. Names are Swedish town names. As a Swede, I find them adorable if a bit weird.

Hi there, 👋
I just build up these trainstations at the gold mines, but 2 of them dont give away gold so my train just passes throu them without collecting anything, can someone tell me why it doesnt give the items and maybe how i can fix it? (i already made the train orders and it is all connected so i cant really explain it to myself, and google also couldnt help)

Yup, so I was wondering why my goods route broke down.
Turns out, that a freshly spawned sawmill was now preferred over my 60 in-game years old business parner.

Can you recommend any heightmaps / scenarios that you found challenging and enjoyed playing? Thanks!

Working on this junction, currently have a clover leaf but need to expand it to prevent circling jams but not enough room. I tried a 3 way weave but there is too much traffic heading to the southwest and northeast. Breakdowns cause issues clogging the lane.
-train length of 8
-vac trans
-spacing around industries and towns is not ideal
-didn’t realize how close I was to an awesome bank balance and definitely paused it accordingly.
Any ideas on a hybrid mix that would work better?

I would especially like to know what settings the people have that build like massive junctions and massive train lines and highways and everything, it looks so satisfying, but I can’t recreate it in my worlds. What do you do when you create a world? Size, industrial and cities density, etc?
I saw recent posts like the one asking how to build a 4 way train junction that looked really big, or the one where you can go on a 10 minute bus ride on the giant highway, where I just wonder how can I make it so satisfying?

Downloaded the 15.3(?) Version for a new computer the other day, but can't see to get all the transparency settings to work. Buildings are fine, but bridges and trees remain solid, which is a tad annoying when building and signalling rail lines. Is it a known issue? Is there a work around? Ta muchly.

Hi everyone!
I've published my collection of train models, originally created for my game Rail Island, on GitHub under the MIT license.
I've also added an online NewGRF exporter, so you can use these models in OpenTTD.
You can browse the models and export them here:

So I've noticed over on YouTube that there's a trend of shitty mobile game ads featuring gameplay footage from actual, good games. Specifically I've been seeing one that's just starcraft gameplay, unedited and passed off as the game being advertised.
Just now I came across an ad for a game called "transport tycoon empire 2" and while it isn't quite as scummy as the starcraft ripoff ads, they're still using openttd for commercial gain which last time I checked was very much against the license of the game.
How do we legally crucify this company? I really care about the openttd project and seeing a scummy company jack it's assets to advertise a completely different game makes my blood boil.

Hi, new player learning the game. I've encountered a problem I can't solve: How do I instruct a train in this situation?
Paper Goods Line is intended to take paper to Fyttsund West and return the goods to Fyttsund Woods, so that the train that delivers goods to cities can get them alongside the oil refinery's goods. However, I don't know how to prevent the train from loading up goods at Woods and just taking them back to the printing works.
In short, how do I get the train to only load a particular cargo, even i it has space for a second cargo? Thanks for any information on this, it's been fun figuring the game out so far.
I've noticed that a lot of people seem to dismiss projects outright simply because the creator used AI to bring their idea to life. Instead of looking at what someone actually created, they see that AI was involved and immediately lose interest.
Not everyone has the skills or resources to realise their ideas without help. AI gives people the opportunity to create things they otherwise couldn't.
And let's be honest, plenty of people create slop without AI, too. The tool doesn't automatically determine the quality of the result.
You don't have to like every project, but judge it on its merits, not just the tools used to create.
If the idea is good there probably are people want to invest actual time in green lighting the code.

It works with speeding up acceleration/reduction of speed and also with doubletracks.
Freedrawing from 1x1 up to 4x4 (including 1x3 and others between)
God bless Antropic and Claude.
Now with onramps :) https://imgur.com/a/9YW3OpW

I need advice. How should I set orders on a bidirectional coal route?
A have a power plant and coal mine in the north, and the same in the south. I want my trains to run in a loop, picking up coal in the north, dropping it at the power plant in the south, and pick up coal from the south coal mine.
However the production of the north mine is 2x as large as the south mine. When I use Full Load on both mines this causes the trains to pile up at the south mine.
What is the best way to set orders while still getting maximum ratings and efficiency at the stations?
