Humor I've Seen Wins With Non-Meta Teams 🏅

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Yes it's prudent to swap at some junctures, but demanding that people play "meta" just because you want them to is bad sportsmanship. I've seen wins with no tanks or even all supports. There's tons of heroes for a reason!

News & Discussion I discovered that if there's no support nearby, you can ask Soldier 76 to heal you.

Post image
644 Upvotes

Usually, if there are no supports nearby, the hero says, “No supports nearby,” or if you're playing as a support yourself, something like, “I'm the only support.”

But if your team has Soldier 76, your hero will ask for healing because he has the Biotic Field.

Just an interesting, well-thought detail.

It gets awkward when someone asks you for healing, but you just stick the syringe in yourself. Because you choose the syringe perk 90% of the time.

News & Discussion The Push Robot runs 20% faster with 3 or more people pushing it

Post image
• Upvotes

Some people claim that the push bot hits max speed at 1 person. Did they actually test that? Clearly not.

You can finish this push map 18 seconds faster with 3 or more people pushing the Push Bot.

I made precise measurements in a video editor and going from just the first point to the finish dropped from 59.236 seconds down to 49.364 seconds.

59.236 / 49.364 = 1.19998379

The robot runs 20% faster with 3 or more people pushing it. That's less than the 33% faster for payload but a 20% speed boost is not insignificant.

News & Discussion If you think a hero is broken, just play them

There's a constant stream of posts about how <insert hero here> is broken/lobby admin/zero skill, and to that I say; just play them then.

It'll be win/win for you, since one or more of the following will happen:

  • You learn their timing and preferred positioning, making them easier to counter.
  • You discover that you're right, they ARE easy, and you rank up quickly. Feels good!
  • You discover they're actually difficult to play, so stop making stupid whiny posts about them.

Highlight Blizzard needs to fix matchmaking because it’s getting ridiculous.

Post image

This has been every match I’ve played this week. Mind you, I am gold 1 (now gold 2 because we got bent over the table this match) and I solo queue.

The fact that this is even possible is questionable enough but when it’s literally every single match and somehow the bronze is on my team every time (not really relevant but still aggravating) like.. what am I supposed to do with this?

I went 24-9 with 18k damage in an 11 minute match and it still didn’t matter because our bronze tank kept trying to 1v6 the enemy.

Like I get I’m not the best player ever and I’m okay with that but I would love a balanced match for once. Because I took a break because the matchmaking was putting me in high elo lobbies, came back and the problem is worse than it was when I took a one month break.

Stomp or be stomped, and I’d be fine if it was once in a blue moon but the fact I get these wide ranges every single match for weeks as a solo queue player is actually messed up.

Anyone else getting stuck in hell hole rank range matches like this consistently?

Fan Content Wuyang and Anran Ye | OC | NO AI

Post image

Ye siblings cinema trip? Post Talon downtime? Not sure what to caption it; I'm an artist, not a writer, lol. (Suggestions welcome)

A little backstory, if you're interested: this started as just an Anran fan art since she's my main, but I kept visualising Wuyang there, and it played on my mind til I caved and drew him too, which was quite enjoyable in the end.

As always, no AI was used whatsoever; I used my brain instead. Also, whether or not this site thinks it can opt anything it wants into being scraped for training data, the fact is I do not give consent to this, or any of my art, being used for AI training.

News & Discussion Mid Season Support Balance Predictions?

Post image
• Upvotes

We are some changes you think we’d realistically see?

I think we might see a slight nerf to the DPS passive, reducing the healing mitigation from -30% to -25%.

I can see Doctrine receiving a nerf to his primary fire damage and Illari’s Primary Fire Damage being reverted back to 75 damage at full charge to compensate for the smaller hitbox sizes on hitscan weapons. Possibly a micro buff to both Lifeweaver and Wuyang.

News & Discussion What's an Overwatch hero you think needs to be nerfed/buffed more? (image semi related)

Post image

For me it's Venture. Like holy fuck is playing as them kinda like putting a cactus up my ass. I'm either popping off or I'm the backline tickle monster, especially since their gun only does about... 80 dmg per shot. Which it takes 3 hits to kill a squishy, or 4 for an average hp

And if not a buff, then a slight rework/new ability

Humor Why even play anyone but Reaper?

Post image
475 Upvotes

Just because there are other heroes doesn't mean u should play them, Reaper may not be the best rn but he is objectively the greatest character in all of Overwatch. Hot take but idc Reaper is leagues better than anyone imaginable in this game. I have been playing him since 2017 and I will never consider anybody else. He is the most attractive, the most evil, the most smexy, the most appetizing, the most deathly, the most greatly, the most perfect character ever and I am genuinely curious as to why people will choose a weeb, or a dva, or a brit, or a sigma, or a junker, or an omnic, or a symm, or a fire, or a fox, or a white savior (mercy), or a cowboy, or a sniper, or a cat, or a monkey, or a hamster, or the rest of the roster that can all go die die die?

Whoever you pick a good Reaper 1v1s them easily. The only thing I could guess as to why more ppl don't play Reaper is that his boots are loud af. Even crouching you can hear him in a crowd. But argubly that is a skill diff, you should anticipate being shot at and killed bc Reaper is that guy. Nobody wants him to get close to them bc he will gobble ur soul. The only other pick I would choose that I enjoy seeing is Soldier 76 bc they have a bromance and its cute that Reaper is his yandere and that he can find love after separating from his wife.

I rest my case. They should remove all other characters and make Reaper the only character.

News & Discussion I wish Mastermind was added as a playable hero instead of D.mon

Post image

Don't get me wrong, I love D.mon but she's basically a mash-up of D.va and Reinhardt. With Mastermind just look a his mech. There was the potential for us to get a really cool and unique hero

News & Discussion A tip, here are a few reasons why "Heal diff" probably didn't cost you the game.

Let's start with the obvious disclaimer. The role is support, not healing. The purpose of the game is to capture the objective, how you do it doesn't make a difference as long as it's done.

There are a lot of reasons why there is a "heal" diff that people don't recognize.

One big one is the OTHER TEAM HAS AN ANA. Her whole utility is decreasing the healing of the other team.

The other big one is the other team has burst damage heroes. Widowmaker, Junkrat, Roadhog. As much as I'd love to, I can't heal a sniper bullet between your eyes.

A third one is both of your DPS and perhaps your tank are flankers and pick up med kits along the way. There won't be much healing if Genji is taking care of himself.

Fourth is there are a lot of self-healers on the team. A team that consists of Roadhog, Soldier 76, and Mei is going to have a LOT less healing.

So before you say heal diff, did either team meet any of these qualifications?

Are there any others you can think of?

News & Discussion The killcam shows me who killed me, but I wish it showed what my team was dealing with

I went back and watched a King's Row replay because I was convinced our Ana had completely ignored me.

From my POV, I was half HP near hotel, asking for healing, and got finished off by a D.Va. It genuinely looked like one heal would've saved me.

Then I watched Ana's POV.

She'd lost line of sight the moment I went around the corner. Meanwhile, a Tracer had been harassing her for basically the entire fight. She was trying to stay alive, landed a sleep dart, and was actually doing a pretty decent job considering what was happening.

I had absolutely no idea. To me, she'd just been standing somewhere behind me doing nothing.

And it made me think about how much information we're missing when we die.

The killcam is great at showing how an enemy killed you. But it doesn't explain what was happening to the rest of your team.

Imagine if, during the respawn timer, you could rewind the last five seconds from a nearby teammate's perspective. Not just supports either. Sometimes I'd love to know why my tank suddenly backed off, or what our other DPS was fighting while I thought I was taking a 1v1.

I know the replay viewer already exists. I'm talking about something you could check in those few seconds before respawning, without leaving the match.

Honestly, I suspect I'd discover that a lot of my "where the hell was my team?" deaths were actually "oh, that's where my team was" deaths.

Would you use something like this, or would it just give people another reason to blame their teammates?

News & Discussion We need a "Where is everyone now?" recap badly

Post image
268 Upvotes

I think the game desperately needs a recap of where every one is and what they're doing in the current story.

They did this a few years ago with "The story so far" video, but we need a newer and more comprehensive one.

They also did a flavor of this near the start of OW2 launch with the PVE missions. Seeing a ton of people at Gibraltar and finally talking to each other in videos was so exciting.

The game just has too many heroes to keep up with if you're trying to see the "big picture".

The easy ones are Talon and Vendetta's current arc along with the supporting heroes involved like Shion/meka squad/etc, which makes sense since that's the focus of the current year.

But what about other people?

What in the world is Jack doing? Still "chasing ghosts" after 10 years? Still hasn't solved or gotten any leads as to the conspiracy insider that helped bring overwatch down from inside all that long time ago?

What's Zarya doing?

How about Illari? She seems nonexistent lore-wise.

I know team 4 only has so much time in the day and the more important stuff always takes priority, it's just something to consider.

I just want a big overview that shows each hero's faction, what they're currently doing in the storyline, if anything, that kinda thing, doesn't necessarily have to be a cinematic or comic even, could just be an infographic chart or breakdown.

This is only going to get worse as time goes on and a new big set of heroes comes in 2027, and the lore keeps splintering into comics and it's hard to keep track of it all sometimes, that's all I'm saying (I definitely love the comics and story times, don't get me wrong!)

(Also perhaps they could close some really really old lore chapters such as Pharah and Ana arguing for the last 10 years for her to come out of hiding and to stop pretending she's dead, as a Pharah player I hear it pretty much every pre-match haha.)

Thoughts?
