📝My Performance (Critique Welcome!) Well... it's getting harder to play due to my health.

I've noticed it today, and that's how I know... well time is feeling pretty short. I'm not going to go into details about my illness but it is severe and today, it took all the energy I could muster to get out of bed and get to the piano. I have no idea what's coming next in my life but I love my piano, she's my best friend so I'm just going to keep fighting until the end.

To think... that people spend time arguing over competitions and wrong notes... it all seems so bizarre now from my point of view and the place I'm at. Music is such a beautiful language, I'm glad I had the privilege to discover it and fall in love with it and be able speak it in my own way.

Sorry for the depressing post, strangely enough it's helping me get the weight I'm carrying off my chest and push forward. At least another piece of music has been brought into the world.

I've been working on this piece for quite a while (too long) and would appreciate some feedback and direction. Relearning the piano after many years, and other than this have only a small number of easy Schumann and Chopin works in my repertoire. Thanks to anyone who can offer some honest criticism and direction (and ideas on other similarly challenging pieces I could move on to).

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) J'ai mal aux poignets TvT

For everyone who gets mad at people who put stuff on their pianos, this tv is the lightest one I own and is sitting on a cloth. I set it up so it won't damage the piano.

Just finished learning this beautiful song by ear on piano. I decided to record right away, so I know this is quite sloppy but that will improve. And ignore my singing too, I have a sore throat. Any suggestions on chords or anything?

Thank you 😊

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) I have never taken any piano classes before, but I really want to learn how to play this:

I have no trouble with the intro however I am completely stuck on verse 1. I'm having trouble playing the notes on the right hand as they keep syncing with the left hand. How do I stop this and is there a certain practice to get better at coordination?

So much fun to play, even if the Steinway's heavy keys gave me a bit of a hard time. Also, it is absolutely evil to fill the stride with tenths in the middle section lmao

🧑‍🏫Question/Help (Intermed./Advanced) Any tips for improving accuracy when playing?

I’ve been playing piano for 16 years. My learning of it was very casual as I took private lessons from my elementary school music teacher from ages 5-13 (I’m now 21), so I was not by any means classically trained nor did I really learn a whole lot about technique aside from the bare basics.

I’m good enough at piano - I’m good at reading sheet music, learning songs, and can play difficult pieces - but my accuracy isn’t so great. I had always assumed that as my experience (and hand size) grew, the accuracy would follow suit. Although my accuracy has definitely improved, it’s starting to feel pretty stagnant. I still reach for wrong notes all the time and it’s pretty infrequent that I can play a song mistake-free. My main issue is consecutive octaves and big jumps.

I’m wondering if anyone else has been in my position and successfully improved their accuracy, and if so, what they did to achieve that. I’m thinking there might be common issues like “your wrists are too tense” or something like that. Maybe I’m just comparing myself too heavily to the classically trained pianists I look up to, but I want to get better and I just don’t know how.

EDIT: I have a TikTok account where I post some of my songs. the username is “thekeywicat”! I don’t mean this as a self promotion, just as a reference for my skill level and the type of stuff I play. Keep in mind though that I don’t often post the songs that I can never get right haha. ALSO these videos are all the product of like 10+ takes lol

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) Practicing methods & playing without mistakes

I took lessons as a kid but have been revisiting piano on my own without lessons as an adult for about 3 years now. I like learning new songs but I never seem to master them completely, and be error free. I can never get through any song without at least 1 wrong note. I enjoy playing more when I learn the sheet music, then play from memory. But this might have to do with my note reading skills which I still struggle with. What advice do you have for me? Do you have a practicing routine or method that works for you?

I improved over the intro and last chorus. I worked this with the metronome for 2 weeks.
A lot of fun, I plan to break it out at future restaurant gigs.

🔌Digital Piano Question P-145

I played piano a bit when I was younger and I’m trying to get back into it now, I’ve seen people say the Yamaha p-145 is a good entry level keyboard, I’m just wondering if it’s as good as people say, or what others would be better if so

🙋Question/Help (Beginner) How to play without always looking at my fingers

I’m at the beginning of my third year at music school, and I still have a big issue when I play.
When I play an easy or intermediate piece, I don’t have much trouble following the sheet music. However, when a piece gets harder, I keep looking at the score as usual, but the more I practice and the more muscle memory kicks in, the harder it becomes to follow the score accurately.
For example, I learnt Never Forget from Halo 3, which is a pretty challenging piece for my level. At first, I needed to look at the score, but once I started playing it well, looking at the score began to completely throw me off.
The main issue is that I feel like I never really know my pieces well enough to play them from the score alone, and muscle memory ends up taking over. I really want to improve this, so does anyone have any suggestions ?

Hello again. As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been practicing for a couple of months using the C Major Scale (Parallel and Contrary Motion), Left Hand Appergios, and Hanon-1 (Which I am unsure if I am doing correctly).

In this post, I am looking for feedback or corrections on the above exercises. Please let me know what I am doing correctly and what I am doing wrong as well as how to fix it. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
