Didn’t buy today - will post again when I do

Platinum was slightly up today all day, so I was not able to buy, although I kind of want to.

im not allowed to buy on green days.

I just buy physical ETFs, but platinum seems far easier to keep safe vs gold or silver due to the very high melting temperature.

Im buying today

Im buying today.

I have almost a $500 stack and I am down 3%.

Just started stacking last week.

I think it’s time to start doing some nibbling.

And it’s so hard to buy today. it seems like it will go down forever. I’m so bad at trading that all this tells me to buy because I do the opposite of how I feel.

I will post again when i buy again. If it’s down again tomorrow, I will buy a little more.

Complete 1/4 oz proof APE set

None of these coins is particularly rare or hard to find, but completing the set at reasonable pricing took way longer than expected. I’ve also always hated on slabbed modern bullion, and now I am a hypocrite. For some reason I’m also compelled to complete the 1/4 circulation strike set and both 1/10 sets.

My non silver stack

Been at it for 2 years and my current goal is 10 oz platinum, 1.5 oz palladium and 5 oz gold. I prefer fractional over full oz for all 3, even with premiums. The only palladium I currently have is the red Valcambi wallet. The gold vial is mostly nuggets, but I also added some 1/100 and 1/200 rounds and oddball weights of 999. No idea how much is in the vial, but it feels pleasantly heavy. Goldbacks, which many here poo poo, are over 1/20th oz. Got lucky once and bought 35 at spot when some new online dealer in San Diego misquoted the price for a couple days but they honored it. As soon as I hit my goals, I’m gonna concentrate on low premium silver rounds. No more libertad for a while.

18ct stamped pall platinum weighs around 2.55 grams. I believe it’s from the 1930s. Just wondering what’s it worth

Each year I try to pick up the 1/10 oz for that year. It makes it easy since only a few mints make them. Would love to see the Canada and US Mints make this size again.

Platinum Purchases in California — tax exempt if over $2k?

Does anyone know the tax exemption rules for purchases of platinum in California?

I know for gold and silver specifically, a purchase of over $2,000 in one single transaction exempts the purchaser from paying California sales tax.

The rule is more ambiguous for other precious metals though. It says it covers monetized bullion (which is a government-minted legal tender coin), and the coin I am looking to purchase falls under that category/designation — it is a 1 oz platinum panda coin issued by the People’s Republic of China.

eBay has automatically added sales tax based on how the item itself was categorized by the seller. Would this be correct? Or am I exempt from paying sales tax based on the type of coin I’m purchasing?

Any advice and insight would be greatly appreciated!

Platinum doing better than Gold Silver

During this precious metals sell off it looks like Platinum is holding its ground much better than Gold/Silver?

That’s the amount of above ground .999 platinum. Tangible and twice as rare as Btc. 🤔

Platinum Noble’s vs other platinum

What is this sub’s opinion on platinum nobles compared to other forms of platinum such as maples or bars?

What's your strategy for owning platinum in your metals portfolio?

I was surprised to find this sub, as I hadn't given much thought to holding platinum, besides a few grams on my wife's engagement ring and a few gram bars at the most.

So I was wondering if someone out there stacks only platinum, if someone stacks against a gold ratio like the silver guys, or if someone trades it.

I find platinum to be very interesting, however there's not a lot of market or interest for it where I live, looks a lot like silver to me and I still prefer white gold over it. But maybe I'm missing out I guess, everyone knows it has been more expensive than gold, sometimes a lot cheaper, so a little volatile for strict wealth preservation maybe.

What am I missing? Thanks a lot for the input guys, really interesting community this is, can't wait to scroll through the pics of your stashes.

Would tokenization make platinum easier to own, or just add risk?

Platinum seems harder for small investors to buy than gold or silver. The premiums can be high and there is less choice, so a token backed by vaulted metal sounds useful on paper.

But it also means trusting the issuer, the vault, the audits and the redemption process.

Would easier access be worth that extra layer, or would you rather hold the metal or an ETF?

What's a reasonable premium you should pay for basic 1/4oz plat coins?

Hello, I'm looking to diversify my stack and want to start buying platinum, I usually buy everything off PMsforsale but platinum is rarely posted (though I'm sure I can get some if I post a WTB) but before I do what's a reasonable price point nowadays? I always try to buy as close to spot as possible for all my PMs. I just have been reading that you should expect to pay higher premiums!
