I spent 11 years in prison and 2 weeks ago I got out. I am wanting to start a conversation about what I went through and what is wrong with prison. I want to share my story with ppl and help others from going down tht road. Will ppl want this or will I be wasting my time.

Britain’s prisons are full. The solution has sparked outrage | The gov't projected that prisons, which hovered somewhere between 97% and 98% capacity and would fill up by November without urgent action. Some 700 criminals were expected to be freed across England and Wales.

What’s the last week in federal prison like?

• Upvotes

A friend of mine is being released next week, and I’m curious what his last week in prison might look like. He’s in a medium-security facility in a dorm-style unit and hasn’t answered my texts in a few days, which has me a little worried. He has a contraband phone, and my iMessages have suddenly switched from blue to green, although they still say “Delivered.” Could something have changed on his end?

I’d also love to hear what day-to-day life is like for inmates during their final week before release. Do routines change, and is there usually a lot of preparation or anticipation? What’s the general vibe when someone gets released? Are other inmates happy for them?

Eastern State (PA) Penitentiary's radical approach to prison reform left a global legacy | The prison's approach combined solitary reflection with labor in an effort to inspire contrition rather than simply impose punishment.
