Racism in groups

Hi everyone, I am a practicing trainee participating in groups as part of the training.

As a person of colour, I have become the container / target (the othered ‘black object’) of the white members of the group. I am aware of the uncomfortable, shame, guilt and intolerable feelings that are being projected onto me and expressed as psychic and verbal attacks (including shouting and finger pointing). Whenever I offer a reflective response it is immediately shut down and the lack of ‘free speech’ card is used.

To be honest, I’ve been here before, and it’s extremely uncomfortable. The group facilitator is out of their depth and not able to contain the attacks. I am not a therapist and should not have to tolerate attacks or be the educator in a group setting. I’m aware it’s a systemic problem on the training itself but Im wondering how i can I support/educate myself (any readings, videos) and wanted some solidarity from any peers.

The ‘leader’ of the attacking group has openly aligned themselves with fascist ideals.

What online introductory courses or programs do you recommend from prior experience?

Hi everybody! I’m sure this question has been asked here before probably but why not ask it again. I’ve been in my own analysis for a little over a year now, and I’m curious to see what courses or programs are out there for folks who are developing an interest but not ready to fully commit to analytic training. I’m a medical clinician (PA not an MD) but I don’t have a therapy license. Theres so many that I’ve found online that it’s a bit overwhelming- does anyone have any experience with any particular programs they recommend? I see that there are one year programs, but it does seem quite a bit are geared more towards therapists already who have their own patient cases.

I was looking into BGSP’s Modern perspectives in psychoanalysis, a course that goes in in the spring time. I believe NYPSI has extension courses as well.

I’d love to know what you recommend! Thank you :)

Edit: should prob say I’m based in the US, I live in Michigan. I did reach out to the Michigan psychoanalytic institute as well

Psychoanalytic social work practice

Looking for books, essays, collections, etc. on psychoanalytically informed social work practice. I’m especially interested in anything in the Freudian/Lacanian/post-Lacanian/Laplanchian areas but definitely open to anything!
