State of Arr Reddit

Hi All,

We've removed the mod that the reddit team so graciously lent us to re-open the reddit. Nothing against him, but trust is earned, and there's too much responsibility involved to leave this community in just anyone's hands.

That being said, we'll leave the reddit open, but are searching for new moderators that are interested in dealing with all that comes with moderating a reddit community of this size. Feel free to stop by Discord for a chat if you are interest.

In the meantime dev continues and we appreciate all the support and backing from all of the Radarr userbase through the ups and downs.

discussion **60 days of indexer stats from my Prowlarr + Radarr/Sonarr setup**

**60 days of indexer stats from my Prowlarr + Radarr/Sonarr setup**

Pulled from Prowlarr's indexer stats and the Radarr/Sonarr history APIs (last 60 days). Home Unraid server, mostly 720p/1080p x265 profiles, SABnzbd with 5 Usenet providers. "Failed" = download failed or was rejected after grabbing (mostly DMCA takedowns / incomplete), and the arrs automatically grab another release when that happens.

**Movies + TV combined (Radarr + Sonarr, 60 days)**

| Indexer | Grabs | Failed | Fail rate |

|---|---|---|---|

| NZBgeek | 776 | 204 | 26% |

| NinjaCentral | 588 | 136 | 23% |

| DrunkenSlug | 509 | 198 | 39% |

| Treasure Maps | 344 | 123 | 36% |

| altHUB | 54 | 26 | 48% |

| Nzblife | 49 | 7 | 14% (small sample) |

**All-time Prowlarr totals**

| Indexer | Type | Queries | Grabs | Avg response |

|---|---|---|---|---|

| NZBgeek | Usenet | 2,784 | 714 | 523 ms |

| DrunkenSlug | Usenet | 2,706 | 526 | 473 ms |

| NinjaCentral | Usenet | 3,338 | 470 | 477 ms |

| Treasure Maps | Usenet | 6,404 | 260 | 348 ms |

| altHUB | Usenet | 5,182 | 49 | 326 ms |

| Nzblife | Usenet | 447 | 16 | 388 ms |

| TorrentDay | Torrent | 2,748 | 7 | 388 ms |

| IPTorrents | Torrent | 2,707 | 4 | 514 ms |

| NzbNoob | Usenet | 249 | 4 | 345 ms |

| The Pirate Bay | Torrent | 91 | 1 | 389 ms |

| TorrentLeech | Torrent | 272 | 1 | 1,039 ms |

| Knaben | Torrent | 113 | 0 | 835 ms |

| 0DayFiles | Torrent | 266 | 0 | 679 ms |

| Generic Newznab | Usenet | 172 | 0 | 228 ms |

**Takeaways**

* NZBgeek and NinjaCentral are my workhorses: highest volume and the lowest fail rates among the big ones.

* DrunkenSlug and Treasure Maps find a lot, but more of what they find is already taken down. Treasure Maps was my best for music in Lidarr.

* altHUB fails about half the time for movies/TV, but it's fine as a last resort.

* With Usenet set up, torrents barely get used: about a dozen grabs total across four trackers, because the arrs prefer Usenet when both are available.

* I turned off the three that never produced a download, and set Prowlarr priorities so Geek/Ninja get tried first.

Curious how this compares with what others are seeing, especially fail rates. Is DrunkenSlug at about 40% normal for you?

discussion Custom formats and profiles

Hi all,

So I'm trying to tighten up my profiles and quality now that I've got a new TV and can use H265. My setup is a main TV with optical to a Denon amp and accessed through Emby and native Google TV app.

I'm only downloading 1080 and don't want the increased file sizes of 4k....yet but trying to find the right audio settings. From what I understand AAC won't be transmitted correctly to my amp through optical and end up in stereo so therefore I need to be looking at AC3 ideally or EAC. Following ai ice created 3 custom formats

Legacy AC3 - Score 150

\b(AC3|DD5\.1|Dolby5\.1)\b

Legacy DTS - Score 100

\b(DTS|DTS\.5\.1)\b

Modern Dolby - Score 50

\b(DDP|DDP5\.1|EAC3|DD\+)\b

Then a hevc/265 - Score 500

Does the above sound correct or am I missing something?

Many thanks

discussion Client option for 4K Remuxes: Native Dolby Vision Profile 7 FEL reconstruction working on x86 via LibreELEC

Hey everyone, I wanted to share an open-source project that is useful for anyone using Radarr to manage a library of 1:1 4K UHD Blu-ray remuxes.

When you configure Radarr to grab full 4K disc rips, playing back that Profile 7 FEL (Full Enhancement Layer) Dolby Vision data on PC clients usually doesn't work right. The video pipeline usually strips the enhancement layer entirely, falls back to basic HDR10, or forces your backend server to transcode. To get true TV-led Dolby Vision, people usually buy specific certified ARM boxes like the Nvidia Shield Pro or the Ugoos AM6B+.

A developer named CroqueMr (u/Croque_Mr) has been working on a custom LibreELEC 13 / Kodi 22 RC1 build that brings native Dolby Vision support directly to PC hardware, including proper Profile 7 FEL reconstruction. Radarr still handles all your backend renaming and sorting, while this custom client handles the video processing locally on your playback machine.

No Transcoding or Stripped Layers

The project does not take shortcuts or do simple on-the-fly compatibility tricks. The FEL is processed, reconstructed, and output in a native TV-Led RGB8 tunnel using an open-source Dolby Vision processing engine called CB1 0.3. No external player or proprietary Dolby SDK is required.

Because x86 PC hardware has more processing headroom than standard mobile streaming sticks, the build features a "Dolby Vision Master Reference" mode. It processes playback in full precision with high-end filtering to achieve an accurate, bit-perfect Dolby Vision picture.

FEL Playback on Budget Hardware (Intel N100 / N150)

The performance optimization for low-power architectures works well on budget setups:

  • Intel N100 / N150 Mini PCs: Cheap N100 and N150 boxes handle a 4K Profile 7 FEL remux with zero dropped frames.
  • Performance Headroom: In bench testing, the N100 processed a heavy FEL remux at 40fps, showing enough performance headroom over standard 24fps film files, and can push Dolby Vision up to 60fps using native TV-led tunneling.
  • Beta 5 Optimization: The latest release upgrades GUI rendering performance while inside the Master Reference mode to keep the interface smooth during movie playback.

Current Features & Profiles (Beta 5 Changes):

  • Profiles Supported: Full native playback for DV Profiles 5, 7 MEL, 7 FEL (with full EL reconstruction), 8.1, 8.2, 8.4, and 10. (Profiles 9 and 20 are unsupported).
  • Format Assembly: Added shared BL/EL assembly for declared dual-track MKV/MP4 and dual-PID TS/M2TS sources to handle complex scene-rip containers natively.
  • Seek State Correction: Fixed stale enhancement-layer data and preserved original packet framing during seek-point detection to prevent parsing errors after skipping.
  • AMD HDMI 3D: Full MVC Blu-ray ISO decoding and HDMI frame packing on compatible displays, alongside 1080p half-SBS modes.
  • Hardware Support: Out-of-the-box support for Intel iGPUs (8th gen and newer, N-series, Core Ultra) and AMD iGPUs (Ryzen 2000G up to AI 300). Dedicated AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce GPUs are supported but currently experimental.

What's coming next (RC1 Roadmap)

The developer confirmed the upcoming milestone RC1 roadmap for next week, which includes a complete licensing transition to GPLv2-or-later (to help upstream LibreELEC implement it natively), an optimization boost for lower-tier AMD chips (allowing a 3200U to run full Master Reference mode smoothly), HDR10+ support, and specific laptop/dual-screen display boundary fixes.

If you are looking for an x86 client player that won't ruin or downgrade the 4K files Radarr fetches, this project opens up PCs as capable media clients.

Project links

Full credit to u/Croque_Mr for the incredible development work, and to the community members helping test and refine it. If you want to check out the technical code behind the engine or look through the compatible hardware lists, everything is well-documented in the links above!

discussion Radarr naming convention to show Edition of movie

I changed the Radarr naming convention so that it will add the edition to the filename (Director's Cut, Extended, etc...) and Plex will display the edition under or next to the movie poster. I thought some other people might find this useful!

unsolved Activity Queue stacking up with movies failing to import for no apparent reason.

This feels like a permissions thing

Running Radarr 6.4.4.10685 on MacOS 26.4 (Tahoe)

When I add a request, I have two drive options to choose from: Alpha and Bravo. They are roughly the same amount of total storage and available space.

When I choose Alpha, I can see it complete in the NZB, but it still doesn't show up in Radarr. Then I noticed the Activity queue filling up with these recent file additions. It's rare, but it has happened, and simply manually importing them has fixed it. Now it's looking like everything assigned to Alpha has been stopped in the queue and says "failed to import" but there's no obvious reason. When I go into the media page and choose Manage Files, I get an invalid argument with the folder path. I realize it's because the path does not exist because it did not create the folder. If I go into Edit on that media page, it allows me to update the path to BRAVO. Then a pop-up asks if I want to move the files. I click yes, go back to the activity queue, hit manual import, and Bob is now your mother's brother.

So why, out of the blue, is Alpha not creating folders? And how do I fix it?

unsolved Importing already existing files with hardlinking.

Hi,

I'm very new to the arr-stack and am trying to setting it up properly.

I currently have a collection of movies files that I'd like to import to radarr and have it harlinked (so my titles stay the same). The collection never went through radarr at any time so it's not indexed in any way.

What would be the proper way to do it?

My config:

- movie file collection in /data/save/movies (each in its own folder)

- root folders (where I want the hardlinks to be) /data/media/movies

- In settings renaming, replace illegal characters, hardlinks, extra files, analyze video are checked.

- I made sure in shell that hardlinking from /data/save to /data/media works

Here is what I already tried to no avail (which is why I ask what the proper way is):

- Importing from the movies tab (works but makes no hardlinks) and it created it as a root folder.

- Then importing from the wanted tab (manual import) both with and without /save/media/movies as a root folder. Same behaviour each time : no hardlink created, an unrelated error and an info line :

Error|VideoFileInfoReader|Unable to parse media info from file: "moviename").
|Info|MovieService|assigning file [movie.mkv] to movie [movie name (year)][indexes].

I do not know what else to check, any help is welcome, thanks.

Hello friends, I just did the gluetun tunnel implementation and hosted radarr in my small homelab. I am very new and idk what to do next, how to get the indexers where can we get? i don’t like to pay for anything since I hardly use this I just wanted to getting started with this.

Also as a vpn server I connect to swizz server since I live in germany here torrenting is illegal.

Can you guide me how and where I can find the indexers to join?

waiting for op Some films are not hardlinking

I have hardlinking enabled and my downloads folder and movie folder are on the same mount. About 99% of move movies (and TV shows) are correctly being downloaded and hardlinked, but a couple are not. The strange thing is if I query the files within the /movies folder using 'ls -l' it does report a xxxx2 meaning they're hardlinked, but when I query the same file in my downloads folder it reports a xxxx1. I must have everything set up correctly because out of about 600 films it's only ~5 that are the issue, but they're still and issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

waiting for op First time user struggling with file sizes

Hey,

First let me say that this ecosystem is amazing, I haven’t downloaded in fifteen years, but a couple of relatives and family members abroad want to be fed with their native culture and I am totally mesmerised by how far the scene has developed.

I am trying to get the hang of a couple of things:

We are not a super big TV / movie crowd and mostly use Plex on the iPad, max a 32” TV, despite selecting 1080 I get huge cinematic gigabyte downloads, in addition everything runs of a NAS, as much as we do have x265 support on all clients I feel x264 in our situation (huge bandwith, small NAS) seems to be an acceptable compromise, how do I enforce x264 with reasonable file sizes and how do I enforce that manual searches are the canonical file (hence not replaced with higher qualities)

I also significantly struggle incomplete torrents, how do I kill them off?

Thank you all :)

discussion Indian Movies Fake Ratings?

I’ve setup a very strict MDB list. Basically aggregates every major movie reviews sites that have < 2000 ratings with < 7.9 rating.

It’s working pretty great to clear most of the BS. Unfortunately new movies gets higher ratings the first few months before their rating goes back.

What’s really bugging me is the unusual ratio of Indian movies. It’s like 1/5 of the movies are Indian movies which judging by their description, seems like average movies. The more they keep piling up, the more I’m thinking this must be some kind of review abuse.

Otherwise, what’s going on right now in India?

unsolved Powershell Script api

Does this script only read data? Want to basically check that my renamed folder format and movie file formats match my settings. And then tell me which ones need to still be renamed.

We'll do it directly here without file-generation tools. The script below is designed for Windows PowerShell and connects to Radarr's API.

It checks the folder name against your exact folder format and checks that each movie filename starts with the expected title, year, and TMDb ID. It also reports movies with no file and exports the results to a CSV report.

One limitation: Radarr's optional filename tokens can disappear when their values are empty, so a script cannot reliably validate every optional token just by checking the filename's text. This version checks the fixed naming structure and flags problems without renaming anything.

PowerShell script

Copy this into Notepad and save it as Test-RadarrNaming.ps1.

# Test-RadarrNaming.ps1

Run it

  1. Change $RadarrUrl if Radarr isn't running on this computer.

  2. Replace PASTE_YOUR_RADARR_API_KEY_HERE with your API key.

  3. Open PowerShell in the directory where you saved the script.

  4. Run:

Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope Process Bypass

.\Test-RadarrNaming.ps1

The CSV report will be saved in the current directory.

Important: The folder check approximates DIL1 using the movie title returned by Radarr. If your titles contain punctuation or other characters that Radarr normalizes differently, some folders may be flagged even when correct. The file check uses Radarr's rename preview, which is preferable to trying to reconstruct all your optional media-information tokens manually.

discussion Made a Tdarr plugin so Radarr stops re-downloading stuff after it’s been transcoded

Not sure how many of you run Tdarr alongside Radarr but this was driving me mad. Tdarr would transcode a movie, Radarr would rescan it, decide it didn’t match my profile or custom formats anymore and go grab it again. Then Tdarr would transcode that one too and the whole thing just looped.

So I wrote a little Tdarr flow plugin to sort it. When Tdarr’s done with a file it tells Radarr to refresh the movie and then unmonitors it. Radarr picks up the new file but leaves it alone after that. It does Sonarr too and only unmonitors that one episode, not the whole show.

It’s just been merged into the official Tdarr plugins as part of the Notify Radarr or Sonarr node (v3.0.0), so you don’t need to install anything extra. Stick the node at the end of your flow, give it your Radarr URL and API key and turn on “Unmonitor after refresh”. It’s off by default so if you already use that node nothing changes.

If your files have {imdb-...} or {tmdb-...} in the name it’ll use those to find the movie, otherwise it just lets Radarr parse the filename like normal.

PR: https://github.com/HaveAGitGat/Tdarr_Plugins/pull/909
Plugin: https://github.com/HaveAGitGat/Tdarr_Plugins/tree/master/FlowPlugins/CommunityFlowPlugins/tools/notifyRadarrOrSonarr/3.0.0

discussion I made Tendarr, a free self-hosted tool that uses your existing Radarr custom format scores to find which files are worth upgrading

Hi all. I've been building a small side project for my own library, and it's at the point where I'd like other Radarr users to try it and tell me what's missing.

My problem: years of big old x264 rips sitting below my quality profile's custom format score. Radarr will upgrade them, but it won't tell me which ones are worth searching for, or what I'd get if I did.

What Tendarr does

  • Lists movies below their quality profile's cutoff format score, filtered by codec (x264/Xvid by default) and size, biggest first. It shows each file's current score and the custom formats it's missing.
  • Check releases runs Radarr's interactive search and shows the best release Radarr would actually accept, plus its size, so you can see the space saved before grabbing anything.
  • Upgrade sends the search to Radarr. Radarr still does all the grabbing and importing with your profiles, indexers and download client. Tendarr never touches files itself.
  • Nothing new to configure: it reads your existing quality profiles and custom format scores.

Also included

  • Sonarr support, per episode
  • An optional "reap" view for movies/shows nobody has watched in years (uses Plex + Tautulli). It's conservative by default: well-rated films are protected, and anything it can't match to the right file is never deletable.
  • Optional scheduled release checks and scheduled upgrades, rate limited for your indexers. Both are off by default.

It's a single Docker container (amd64/arm64) and runs fine on a Synology. MIT licensed, no accounts or tracking; it only talks to your own services.

Repo with screenshots and a compose file: https://github.com/seanhamlin/tendarr

It's early, so I'd really value feedback:

  • Does the upgrade view match how you think about your library?
  • What would stop you from running it?
  • Anything you'd want it to surface?

Bug reports, feature ideas and comments are all welcome.

unsolved How do I access/open an existing movie folder within Radarr? (Win11)

Hello;

I don't seem to be finding how I can open a specific movie folder from within Radarr. I googled and asked AI and tried Reddit but no luck. Hoping that someone knows of a way :)

For example, I can see in Radarr that the movie "Battleship Potemkin" is located at \\XYZ\..\Movies\Battleship Potemkin (1925). Now when I want to access that folder I have been copying the full path (from movie details page) and pasting it in Win Explorer. Sometimes when I manage my library I can be doing that a couple hundred times in a day. Is there somewhere a button to open the movie folder via the Radarr app? Or perhaps exists a smarter way to access my Movies folders quickly?

unsolved Requests coming from Seerr on unreleased movies still downloading

I've set up Seerr for the first time and I was testing it out and I have Radarr set to only download when titles have released, but requests from Seerr on movies that are not yet out digitally are still generating a download. It's always something with the right title but then it's just an .exe file. Is there something I can adjust to fix this and stop it from happening?

Secondary question, is it possible to have Seerr not show the "request" button if I already have something tracked on my Radarr?
