Hi! I’m a B.Des UX graduate from Bangalore, India, currently a UI/UX design intern at a proptech startup, with a few earlier internships at AI product companies. I’m seriously considering SCAD’s MBI in Design Management and would love to hear from people who’ve done it or are in it now.
A bit of context: I’m drawn to the strategy and business side of design more than execution work. My parents have offered to fund a master’s, so my main question is ROI, not cost. I’m also comparing it with Parsons SDM and IIT Institute of Design’s MDes+MBA.
Questions for current students / alumni:
- How much work experience did you and your classmates have going in? Did people with less experience still get a lot out of it?
- What kinds of roles did graduates land, and how did international students do on jobs and work authorization afterwards?
- How heavy is the quant/finance side? I haven’t done math since 8th grade, so I’m wondering how much catch-up I’d need.
- Did you look at Parsons SDM or IIT ID too? What made you pick SCAD?
- Anything you wish you’d known before you started?
Thanks so much. Honest answers, good or bad, are welcome!
