Did someone jump off Banpo bridge during the 7:30pm light show?

We were watching the light show right by the bridge side and thought we saw someone jump into the water, but wasn’t sure if someone just threw something heavy over the bridge??? Rescue team dove in and the show stopped immediately.

Was anyone else there tonight? Anyone know what happened?

Lost my tote on the DMZ peace trail

Hey, long shot since I already filed a lost item report with the police when this happened and haven't seen it pop up on the lost items website, but thought I'd give it a shot here anyhow:

October 3rd I was biking from Seoul to the Odusan Unification Observation Deck when I noticed my tote bag was missing from the back of my bike. I'd strapped it down but it must've slipped off. I spent the next 2-3 hours looking for it but to no avail.

I last remember having it here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/r7qWEuwt4oBm2q1aA because I was taking photographs of the murals inside 고양 신평초소 굴다리 before continuing on, and I noticed that it was missing once I made it to the Paju Book City Service Area here https://maps.app.goo.gl/rv36rLA9jo7K1vuz7

I lost it between 6PM and 7:30 PM. It has a robot face printed on it (see picture) and contained a camera (Pentax IQzoom 200), a blue windbreaker (Phillip Lim), a sketchbook full of sketches for my work (I'm an artist), a copy of Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin and a pencil case that my mom wove (the artistry runs in the family...)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. All of the contents were of course very dear to me and I had just gotten to the exciting finale of Giovanni's Room and have been kept in suspense ever since...

Please help me find release lol.

Cheers and thanks.

P.S: Korean Police really are as they are depicted in Memories of Murder, kind of goofy and really funny. When they were called out on a patrol or whatever one guy woke up with a start and shook his head like a student who had just been caught sleeping in class. I enjoyed that very much.

Hey all! I am heading to Seoul and thought of getting a bag that can be used for work & casual dates. Any brands to recommend? I know the popular ones like Stand oil, Marge Sherwood, Samo Ondoh etc but are these worth the hype? please share your experience. Thank you <3

Looking for international friends(im 30f)

Hi everyone!

I'm 30F living in Incheon and I'm hoping to make some new friends based in Incheon or Seoul.
I'd feel comfortable with someone of the same gender(female).

I’d love to do a language exchange—I want to practice my English, and I’d be more than happy to help you with your Korean!

We can chat online and it would be great to make plans to meet up in Seoul or Incheon to check out delicious food spots, cafes, and local attractions.
I'd love to show you around some great places! Guess i can help you with getting used to being in Korea.

A little about me: I really enjoy traveling and having good conversations over a casual drink.

I'm hoping to build genuine, lasting friendships. If this sounds like a good fit, feel free to drop me a DM or chat! :)

HELP! 🆘 EV car charging

Hi

Does anyone know of an EV charging company that works with foreign credit cards?

We have an electric car and need to charge.

None of the charging stations we've tried have worked for foreign cards. For example, we have tried Happe Charger and Chaevi.

I made a free map of restaurants where Korean government offices actually pay for meals (built from public expense records)

Disclosure: I'm the developer (a Korean indie dev), so this is my own project.

Korean government offices have to publish their business-promotion expense records, including which restaurants they paid. I collected those records and put the restaurant payments on a map, so you can browse real places by area instead of ad-boosted or review-event listings.

  • Covers 327 agencies so far, about 79,000 restaurant payments (more being added)
  • Near me search + a lunch roulette if you can't decide
  • English / Japanese / Chinese / Korean UI
  • Free, no login

Caveats: a payment count is not a taste score, and some locations are estimated from the name/address, so check Naver/Kakao/Google Maps for reviews before you go.

Feedback and bug reports are very welcome, especially from people who live in Seoul.

Question Need help deciding on hotels in Seoul

Hello all!

Me and my partner are deciding on hotels to stay in late December for 7 days. We'll be using the AMEX FHR program.

So far we are in between, The Grand Lotte Seoul, Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, The Westin Josun Seoul, Le Méridien Seoul Myeongdong, Park Hyatt Seoul, Signiel Seoul

I think location wise, the Grand Lotte, Four seasons, Westin, and Le meridien are the best.

Four Seasons and Signiel are obviously the most expensive.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Question Which cigarettes to bring back home?

My sister will be visiting Seoul and I want her to bring me some cig packs back to France because cheaper. She is not a smoker and has never smoked so she has no idea what to get me. What are some typical common cigarette brand/names in Korea I could ask her to get? Im open to flavored ones too.

Question Any suggestions for a hair salon for a german guy?

I'm 32 (m) and from Germany. I come with dark blonde and kinda thin hair which I grew out for half a year. That means it is a bit messy right now.

I want to get a new haircut when I visit Seoul in two weeks but since I have no idea what to do with my hair I would love to get a consultation. Basically I would let them do what they think is best for me.

So does anyone know a nice hair salon for a guy like me? Foreigner friendly, english speaking, not judging me for my messy hair and where I can just go with the flow and let them do whatever they recommend? xD

I am very thankful for every recommendation I get or maybe how big my chances are to find what I'm looking for :D more maybe I should just get a hair cut in Germany and let that idea rest haha

Meet Up 23M from Germany, living in Gangnam – anyone into trading, AI or building side projects?

Hey,

I'm 23, from Germany, and I live in Gangnam.

I'm looking to connect with people who are into:

Trading (futures)
AI and automating stuff
Building things together: side projects, tools, ideas

If you're already working on something and could use an extra pair of hands, I'm happy to help. If you just want to grab a coffee or co-work in Gangnam, that works too.

DM me :)

Advice Finding friends in Seoul

I’m a high school exchange student in Seoul, South Korea and I’m having a lot of fun. The only thing is, it’s hard to find friends since I don’t really speak the language, I’m trying to learn but it’s really hard. I would really appreciate tips on how to make friends as a teenager in Seoul!
