Falling off shoulder
How can I alter this to fit better? It’s too big/wide for me and kept falling off my shoulder

Buenas!

I got this cosplay costume hoping that it would stretch just a little more, but no joy. The side zipper won't close over my waist, and probably won't close over my chest either.
I've never done alterations to dresses before (made pants bigger for a friend), but I've done some research and I just wanted a sanity check to make sure I'm on the right path.
Here's my plan:
The dress appears to basically be like, a front half and a back half that's just stitched together at two side seams (slides 3 and 4).
Please let me know if there's any flaws in my logic, or if there's a better way to do this.
Thanks!

I have ~7 yards of a nomex like material. It's white with an orthogrid reinforcement akin "rip-stop", it is fire retardant, and has a 1% carbon inlay for electrostatic dissipation.
Got it from work for testing out unique materials for our spaceship and want to make something fun to remember the project by.
What are some neat ideas to make?

I got this cardigan while thrifting only to find out that it had a built in shirt/sweater inside??? I want to remove it, but i dont want to ruin it. Any ideas? I also only have access to scissors rn because i couldnt bring all of my sewing stuff to college with me.
I was very excited about this find so any and all ideas are appreciated.
edit: People recommended cutting away the excess fabric so thats what I plan to do when I get a chance! that ways I don't have to worry about the seam.

Hello, i posted this on sewing for beginners already but i didn't get a clear answer about this, at this point i'm more curious about this and thinking of just trimming the tipping to match the main fabric to sew it regularly, either way here's the posts description.
"Hi, i'm sewing a tie for the second time after the first one kind of went bad and and i am once again using some old tie from a shop as a pattern, both times i encountered some weird tipping thats larger than the main fabric with some sewn folds at the side, on my first attempt i ignored it but obviously the tie came out bad. I remember these sides being sewn but i dont remember how it worked. I cant for the love of god find any video or even text guide showing how to sew this kind of tipping, i would love some video or image guide regarding this.
In the first image is the old tie main fabric, you can see these weird small folds at the edges, the left one is smaller than the right one.
In the second image is the tipping on the main fabric, its 2cm wider on the left and right side, it also has fold marks and the left fold is smaller than the right one.
The small tipping is the same (except for a bit smaller fold marks and the width difference)
In the third and fourth image is how the tie looked before i took it apart with a seam ripper."
I'd appreciate some insight if anyone knows about this funky tie patterning preference.

I’m trying to compare the image to others online. 1/8” tucks with 1/4” spaces? 1/2” with 1/2”? 1/2” with 1” spaces??

Trying to sew and my thread keeps getting stuck in this spot. I opened the bottom to see if there was debris and there wasnt anything that it would be getting stuck on, and in the last photo i noticed it keeps getting stuck on this corner but im not sure why. The bobbin wont grab and come through either but i think its a result of the top getting stuck. Thank you

For the dress I’m making my pattern wants me to completely line my main fabric pieces with medium to heavy weight interfacing along with lining the top half of my lining (waist up). Does this seem excessive at all? It’s just a strapless mini dress that does include some boning for structure but I’ve seen people say that it’s uncommon to line an entire shell with interfacing.
Also, I actually already started to apply the interfacing to my main fabric like the pattern told me to and ended up having to remove it because I couldn’t get it to stop rippling. I can’t find any specific advice on why this could be happening. Researching this is what led me to see people saying interfacing isn’t applied in large sections like how my pattern says.
1) Do I continue trying to figure out the interfacing for my main fabric or can I just apply it to the lining instead.
2) Why is my interfacing rippling so much? My fabric is light pink with a sheen so it shows imperfections in the interfacing terribly.
3) If the structure is in fact necessary, are there other ways to achieve this without interfacing specifically?

I’ve oiled and cleaned but still it’s making this noise. Has anyone else had this problem before? I oiled it before the noise occurred and it was fine up until a random moment when the squeaking started. which leads me to believe i didn’t wipe the oil away properly so some lint has balled up at gotten stuck somewhere? I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find the root cause. I’m trying everything before I get it serviced lol

Hello! My neighbor has a sewing machine baby lock Rachel. Somehow it jammed. The needle can't make a full rotation. I clean the bobbin area and needle plate. I don't see any thread or fuzz, but for some reason the needle can't move? Does anyone know what it could be?

Recently purchased a Brother lk3-b430-4 bartack machine and broke the needle first use, I purchased the proper needle specified in manual (DPX5 135x5 Size 16) and now the tack isnt sewn and doesnt catch the bobbin thread either, anyone have possible troubleshooting? Thank you

Hi! I am planning to fix/ make some stuff for HEMA, with the end goal being making my own sparring jacket! I have never sewed before as I've never had a machine and my hands are extremely shaky which makes fine work quite hard! From what I have seen, in order to deal with the heavy duty cotton/ foam I will need an old singer machine with steel internals, potentially hand cranked as I live in a flat and want to keep the noise down. Does this seem like a good way to go about getting started? I'm planning to make myself some tool rolls for the forge and some tool bags and stuff to practice first. Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi everyone! 😊
I’m a complete beginner looking to buy my first sewing machine, and I’m currently deciding between the Janome 230DC and the Brother Innov-is A16.
I’m hoping to find a good all-rounder that’s beginner-friendly but will also grow with me as I improve. I’d like to be able to work on a variety of projects, from simple clothing alterations and garments to more challenging projects in the future.
For those who have experience with either (or both) machines, which one would you recommend? Are there any significant differences in terms of ease of use, reliability, or how well they handle different types of projects and fabrics?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. I want to make a good long-term investment rather than outgrow my first machine too quickly.
Thanks so much for your help! 😊
