We originally rolled out picture-in-picture after hearing from viewers who wanted to keep an eye on live games or breaking news while checking other apps—or just needed a safety net when a remote got bumped. At the same time, we heard clear feedback from the community that you want control over when that window opens, specifically on Apple TV.

The tvOS 6.47.1 build addresses that directly. You can now toggle picture-in-picture on or off whenever you want!

The update will roll out automatically across all Apple TV devices over the next week, but you can also update immediately by heading over to update Sling in the Apple TV App Store.

Quick reminder on existing remote behavior: pressing the TV / Control Center button on your Apple TV remote and selecting the X will still close out an active picture-in-picture window at any time.

How to toggle browse while streaming (picture-in-picture)

1. Got to Settings (gear icon in the main menu).
2. Select Device Settings.
3. Scroll to Browse While Streaming, then press Select on your remote to toggle it on or off.

I switch back and forth between Sling (free) and YTTV (daughters account), and the PQ on YTTV is way better on every channel. Does it improve if you subscribe to Blue? Does the guide improve (like show description)?

We actually have Dish, and it's PQ, guide, and DVR are better than either (but at a higher cost). Although if I could get my wife off Dish, it would be nothing but YTTV. You'd think Sling would be at least as good as Dish since Dish owns them.

I live in Wisconsin and have sling blue. I cannot figure out where to watch the games on my sling TV. Any advice?

As the title says phone, Samsung TV using Roku and HP laptop all connected to same isp (Xfinity), but local channels are not displaying on laptop or TV. Had the same problem when I used Verizon Broadband as my isp. The Sling rep (I actually spoke with a live agent!) told me to swap the Xfinity modem at my local store. She said the modem I was shipped was an older model. Does this make sense?

I guess a new update broke Siri channel commands for Apple TV.

For example “watch tnt” would open sling and channel. That no longer works. Just opens the app.

Anyone else experiencing this?

seriously its a pain in the fucking ass to scroll and find something to watch, favorites helps a little but even the guide scrolls so fucking slow, i don't know if this is strictly a roku thing as i have a roku tv but they need to fix this asap

Why are non-favorite channels listed? AirTV grabs all channels and put the favorites in your favorites channel guide, but Sling throws them all into the From your antenna and then limits how many it will show. I have some favorite OTA channels set to favorite, but the won’t show up in the From your channel bar because of display limitations. All I want is my favorites to show up in that channel bar.

There’s a couple channels that do this, amc being one of the ones that I watch the most (BBC America is another). It will keep doing this stuttering. I’ve tried pausing and letting it buffer but doesn’t change. Anyone else have this issue with this channel?

@slingstevie any idea when Multiview may become available on Apple TV? I think the sling experience is best on Apple TV, but this is a sorely missing feature.

What team or matchup are you tracking on the schedule this season?

I've run into an issue where my PC desktop browser version of Sling where I mostly watch it has vanished my local FOX and NBC affiliates as of yesterday. I was able to watch them just fine last week but now I don't have them despite subscribing to the correct plan. The Support line was unhelpful as hell, telling me all sorts of basic fixes. Their conclusion was my IP address somehow changed? Has this happened to anybody else? It's working fine on my TV and Phone apps.

And what Air Tv style do you prefer - AirTV (AirTV 2 or AirTV Anywhere)? I’ve been reading conflicting reviews. I know it’s probably a subjective thing, but I want to determine whether it really makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

I want to watch the English Premier League game on NBC this weekend - I know it’s on Peacock in 4k HDR and should be on NBC too. I just can’t seem to work out if Sling carriers NBC in 4k or not.

I recently just got sling with airtv2 with a cheap RCA antenna, but I can barely get a reception. Trying to get any local channels is a struggle, I’m think a better antenna might help.

Last few days the app seems more snappy and the guide screen looks different. Anyone else notice this? I’m not complaining.

Is there any way to turn off the pop out of video when I press the menu button on the Apple TV now? I just want it to go back to the Home Screen, and not keep the video going in a small window.

Sling double charged my bank account for months and is refusing to refund me. I will be going into litigation with them. Do not deal with this shady company. I have come to find out that I am one of many people that they have done this to.

Why does Sling think their startup sound is attractive? I hate it and think it sounds like a toilet flushing.

I had no idea how compressed the OTA signal was on sling until I did a side by side with an HD Homerun. Night and day difference. The Homerun provides a beautiful picture. I now split the antenna signal between both units and watch Homerun at home and use sling on the road when I travel. I remember when Sling had options to select for quality of signal, was it better back then on high quality? I can’t imagine what the low quality options provided.

I have the Orange/Blue package. On both my Roku TV and using the standalone Roku the guide no longer shows recent channels, only "Recommended For You". Is this a recent change? Player version is 9.6.31, UI is 0.0.1122.

My Sling TV subscription recently expired. Today I wanted to watch some of the MLB Playoff games and went to renew using a gift card I had recently bought. I could not find the option "Add Gift Card" as I have used in the past and also mentioned in their help center. I then spoke with an agent on their customer service chat who initially told me my gift card code was invalid even though I had just scraped off the PIN seconds prior and offered to bill me by credit card. I asked why my code was invalid and got a response "our system won't let me redeem it please reach us back later" and the agent then instantly left the chat. Has anyone else had issues with this. I guess I will not be watching any baseball today...

I've been toying with the idea of cancelling Sling due to it becoming nearly unwatchable. I have a Roku TV where I've always been able to watch Sling without any issues (well, few issues). But lately, it keeps freezing up and not allowing me to even exit the app without having to turn off the TV.

I finally decided to cancel, but instead I put it on Pause. My current billing cycle starts over on the 7th, so I thought I would set up a few shows to record today that I could watch later on when maybe the kinks get worked out. I remembered I could also access Sling through my ONN app. And voila, Sling is working just fine on the ONN app.

Has anyone had this show up when trying to sign i. through the espn ? Lately I have been getting errors every Saturday before kickoff games and today this one showed up and will not let me sign in…
