Storm Boelo - Wow, just wow!
Goodness Storm Boelo apparently brought 77mph winds at Rhossili according to NCI Worms Head. They said it was "right up in hurricane force" on the Beaufort Wind Scale. Porthcawl looks like it took an absolute hammering as well with the storm. Waves looked pretty mega last night!!!

Any Age of Empires II fans in Cardiff? Thinking of setting up a watch party for "The Garrison" (29th Nov)
Heyy! Not sure how many Age of Empires II fans are lurking in the Cardiff sub, but figured I’d throw this out there. A big tournament final for The Garrison ($46000 prizepool!) is happening on Sunday, November 29th, 2026. It's being hosted in Hamburg, but I was thinking about organising a Cardiff watch party for it (a bit like watching football in a pub, but instead, it's a medieval themed RTS from the 90s, what's not to love!).
I’m currently in the early planning stages, haven't locked down a venue just yet, so I wanted to gauge interest first to see who might fancy joining. Major details are:
* Date: Sunday, 29th November 2026
* Time: TBD (probably around 16:00\~?)
* Location: TBD in Cardiff (likely a central pub , open to suggestions?)
The plan is just for a chilled hangout, good company, and some top-tier competitive medieval strategy on screen. Whether you’re a ladder grinder or just someone who enjoys watching pro AoE2, you’re more than welcome to join us.
If you'd be keen to come along, drop a comment below or shoot me a message so I can get an idea of numbers before looking at venues. Hopefully see some of you there!

Welsh Water bill of £130 a month in Newport. Is this normal?
My partner and I moved into a rented, unmetered, three-bedroom small terraced house in Newport in July. Although it's classed as three bedrooms, it's actually two bedrooms and a box room, with one bathroom.
Our water bill is £777.18 for July 2026 to March 2027, which works out at around £1,035 a year at the same rate, or £129.53 a month on our direct debit.
We're careful with water usage, don't take excessively long showers and do what we can to save water. I know we're unmetered, so the bill isn't based on our actual usage, but the amount still seems ridiculous for a household of two.
I've spoken to other people around newport who are paying half as much, if not less.
I'm challenging the bill with Welsh Water and looking into contacting CCW, but I'd love to hear from other people in Newport, particularly those with unmetered properties.
• How much are you paying per month ?
• Are you metered or unmetered?
I'm trying to work out whether this is normal for Newport or whether something isn't right with our charges!

Neighbours throwing food waste
Looking for some advice about an issue regarding my neighbours. They are Boomers, have no pets of their own and dont really seem to leave their house, as a result I have barely spoken with them.
I have two cats, one of which is a very confident boy and I know he has friends on the street including said neighbours. A while ago I realised they were feeding him milk after a period of him becoming ill and spending £100 at the vets, I knocked on their door and asked them to stop as cats aren't supposed to have lactose. They looked at me like I was crazy and said very little. I suspect they have continued but I hate confrontation.
For some reason, they also love to throw their food waste onto the public green opposite our row of houses. This includes bread, salad bits, old bits of cooked meats and dairy products. I believe they do this for the birds, but obviously neighbourhood cats, including mine will eat the scraps and again, my cats will have bad stomachs from this. Its also incredibly difficult to know of they're 'off' their food or simply full from food scraps of on occasion they wont eat their meals.
Im pretty sure it is illegal to do this, but is it petty to report them? I really wish I had the confidence to just go speak to them, but I feel they would be dismissive and ignore me again and then if I did report them afterwards they would be sure it was me.
Any and all advice welcome!
