Discussion Streamer Burnout
This might be a ridiculous question, but how many of my fellow streamers have felt burned out from streaming?
I’ve streamed for countless years now & built a community that I’m proud of. I’m always receiving love & support, and I’m able to take a break from the real world every night as I click the “go live” button
But I can’t shake the exhaustion that’s seemed to dawn upon my body
Before I click the “go live” button, my mind wanders to a different world where I’m wrapping up my day by laying on the couch, reading a book, watching a film, or sleeping before the clock hits midnight. A world where I end my days by winding down, not hurriedly recharging my battery to get out one last effort for the night. But that’s not my reality
Every night, I stream into the early hours of the morning, going until my body starts shutting down. With the love and adoration I receive (much more than I could ever ask for), comes the sense that I can’t let my community down. To fight this feeling, I feel that I fight too hard to please as many people as I can, to ultimately no avail
I’ve allowed others to ridicule me, almost like a class clown in high school. When it’s my chat making fun of me, I typically play it off as jokes and play into the bit. But then the same mannerisms spill onto my friends when we play games together, then it feels like a mob of mockery consistently hoping to set me off or upset me enough to get a reaction. I feel almost paranoid, sensing that people are having conversations behind my back and shielding their true feelings about me. Do they think I’m selfish for prioritizing my stream? Do they secretly hold disdain? Only shielding it from me for the sake of our mutual friendships?
Many nights, I end stream with a smile on my face as I go to bed. Other nights, I simply feel tension in my shoulders, the bags under my eyes dropping lower, and worries that my friends/viewers may be harboring true feelings from me
To anybody who has felt even an ounce of what I feel, how did/do you navigate such feelings?
