Does Villareal ever feel guilty they only paid Orlando $3.2mm for the best right back in La Liga?

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man City are interested in Mathis Albert, a 17-year-old winger for Borussia Dortmund who holds both United States and German citizenship. He is a United States international with 4 caps and 1 goal. His contract with the German club is until June 30, 2027, and his current market value is €5.00m, according to Transfermarkt. In October 2026, reports suggested that Manchester City and Chelsea were considering a transfer fee of approximately €20 million. It was reported during the summer of 2026 that several top clubs were ready to pay as much as €15 million for the player.

Key:
* = non-MLS
† = requires one-time switch
Strikethrough = injured through 2026
Underline = played less than half their team’s games

Keep in mind:
MLS semi-finalists cannot participate
Liga MX finalists cannot participate
Primera A (Colombia) final eight likely cannot participate

AC Milan went down to 10 men against Bournemouth after their keeper Mike Maignan puts his hands on Tyler Adams’ face. Adams fell down to the ground and the ref was in the perfect spot to see it.

Does anyone know when the tickets will go on sale? Or if they are where I can get them? I went on the USMNT website but it doesn't look like they are out yet. Anyone got any news on this?

TACTICAL BREAKDOWN Johnny Cardoso's Offensive Improvement

Post image
42 Upvotes

I made this radar chart to compare Johnny’s offensive numbers this season to last season, mainly looking at progression, receiving, dribbling and chance creation. The difference is pretty noticeable. He already has a little over a third of the minutes he played last season, so even though it’s still a smaller sample, I think there’s enough there to see how much more he’s doing going forward. He’s playing more passes into the final third and dangerous areas, breaking midfield and defensive lines more often, and producing more through balls and balls over the top. He’s also receiving between the lines more, getting into dangerous areas more often, creating more chances, and beating players more often off the dribble.

His carrying numbers are actually pretty similar to last year, so most of the improvement seems to be coming from what he does after he gets the ball. He looks quicker to turn, play forward, find someone between the lines, or take a defender on instead of just moving the ball sideways and keeping possession. That matches the eye test for me too. He just looks a lot more confident and dangerous on the ball this season, especially in more advanced areas.

Do you guys think this is just a hot start, or are we seeing a real change in the type of midfielder Johnny is becoming?

US 23 and under playing time in top 5 leagues now matches Netherlands

33 Upvotes
  • Six Americans aged 23 or younger have at least 270 minutes. That matches the Netherlands, trails Brazil by only one, and exceeds Uruguay’s two.
  • The Dutch have only 20% more minutes than the US. Brazil has 64% more, and Argentina 131% more.
  • Much bigger gap in valuations.
  • The same US players total €78m, compared with €199.6m for the Netherlands, €440.5m for Argentina and €567.5m for Brazil. Brazil has 1.64 times US minutes but 7.3 times the market value. That suggests the US is doing better at getting young players onto the field than at producing a similarly valued group of elite prospects.
  • US comfortably leads the other Americas countries!
