Been rewatching some 2014-2016 races, the look and sound gave it such a distinct vibe from the rest of the field.

I keep seeing comments on this sub along the lines of 'Supercars is in bad shape; they have no money, no characters, no competition, etc etc.'
As somebody who only started seriously watching the series as of Gen 3 this is not the impression I get. But perhaps this is due to a lack of knowledge.
From my perspective the series has attracted three major manufacturers, almost every team livery is covered with sponsors (presumably that equates to significant funding?), the calendar is expanding, there is a good feeder series network, good team and driver rivalries exist, and the racing is close. I believe that ticket sales may be down from historic highs but potentially that can be contributed to convenience and the multiple ways in which fans can view races these days.
So question is, what is the actual current and future state of Supercars? Are people dismissing the current racing in favour of nostalgia, or is there actually serious issues at play?
Also, and recommendations on books about the history of the series (with a focus on teams and / or the ownership and business-side of the sport)?
Thanks in advance.

At the moment I’m using foxtel and just watching the main feed and using the Supercars app for team radio and in car footage. I feel like the Supercars website is clunky and doesn’t offer any footage, just timing and written feed.
Is there any other services that give more info, camera angles, telemetry and what not?
Or is it unrealistic and I should be happy with what I’ve got.
Cheers

So there was some consistency with today’s verdict

People seemed to like when I did this last year, so why not? Positions gained/lost is relative to Bathurst.

I don’t care too much for the whole finals thing.
But surely, if you’re setting up a final four out of four races, shouldn’t the winners (where they are finalists) go straight through to Adelaide?
Chaz and Broc should be fully locked in now. Sandown can still have the other five fighting for the last two spots, and if any of them win a race the points standings don’t matter. If Chaz, Broc or a non-finalist wins, top points scorers still move through.
I just think if you’re going to go “win and you’re in”, fully commit to the plan and make a race win in the finals worth putting it all on the line for. Lean into the chaos.
Thoughts?

I'm sure he's been on many radars but bloody hell, has the guy just jumped in and shaken the paddock with his performances on Sunday?
Dude is driving the arse off that Chevy...
Go hard mate - love seeing new talent come through our series

I usually watch all races Sunday mornings after an event here in the US, but only race 31 is showing up on superview.

Im seeing in all the comments and discussion that people are really buying into the idea that Murray and Hughes were pulled in to get ADP into the finals.
I just dont buy it. It was enough for only one to come in, plus the risks associated with actually orchestrating a cross-team order would far outweigh the benefits. And ontop of that if Waters dropped to Golding he wouldve got in anyway.
Interested to hear opinions.

Full details here, but to make everybody aware: Under a tweak to the finals series points, if you get eliminated at the Gold Coast or Sandown, your points get reset back to what they would have been if you didn't make the finals.
What that means is anybody who didn't make the finals (for example, Heimgartner), can now finish as high as fifth if they have a good run at the end of the year.
Just thought I'd let everybody know as the points for 8th-11th on the Supercars site aren't currently correct.

DJR took a gamble on Gray after making the mistake of not signing Allen. Given Gray’s impressive results and championship win I understand why they signed him. But it hasn’t really paid off. He’s struggled to perform, even when it comes to defending to help his teammate. I’m not trying to be rude, but he hasn’t been particularly impressive.
Then you have Hughes, who also came in with impressive results, but has managed to run up the front and battle with more experienced drivers.
Same applies for Morris (solid super 2 results, not super impressive in supercars) vs Dalton (impressive in both) etc.
How do teams decide which young drivers to take a chance on when so many have impressive results but only some can deliver?

When will Supercars update their cameras? Most other sports have cameras with a spinning lens to throw water off and make viewing clear. This tech has been around for some time now. It is very nearly 2027, I mean hover boards were 12 years ago!

Both races this weekend i've been unable to access the natsoft live timing through timing71. Does anyone know any other live timing site that's free? I pay for the supercars youtube so i don't get the mysupercars live timing
