sorry, posting again, I realised post-factum how badly I titled the original post 😅

This may be a big ask lol. I have the GOG version of the game with the most recent Unofficial Patch (downloaded from ModDB), running through Lutris on Linux (Pop_OS).

I can click around, allocate points, everything, but when it comes time to name my character I can click in the box and get the flashing cursor... and the game apparently just Doesn't think I have a keyboard. No amount of typing new letters or trying to backspace/delete "Unnamed" has any effect. Has this happened to any of y'all?

I've already played VtMB a lot of time, and I'd like to make a new run but also want new content to play.
I already played VtMB2 but it is too different from the original.

So do you guys know any mods that add content, preferably not too far from the original game?

Listen I will acknowledge the game has faults. Theres a fair few bugs, mostly in inconsequential ways like the odd wrong voiceline from a civilian NPC or randomly spawning enemies showing up stuck in terrain, but there is at least one genuine game breaking bug I can't excuse or write off (tho in retrospect it was much easier to fix than I thought, I just screwed up the solution). You get the gist, its got its ugly scars.

That said.

I adore this game

I love playing this game

I am addicted to the game

I know its not the most direct sequel to the original Bloodlines and admittedly I haven't played the original but the gameplay, the vibes, the story, and especially the characters are all immaculate.

Like to give some specifics I love how intricate the systems are at play. Like some things I've noticed after two playthroughs:

-Each of the blood resonances have different mechanics that results in the phlegmatic being easiest to deal with and melancholic being hardest but in exchange the melancholic ones are the only one that you need to trigger manually 100% of the time so the risk is entirely on you.

-When someone dies from falling and there's people nearby to notice they check it out, run until they find the nearest cop, stop running while the cop returns to the location and if the body is still there they start patrolling the area.

-IAO soldiers are arguably the strongest enemies you encounter but in exchange are universally as weak to abilities as any rando on the street.

That's not even getting into the plot, the mysteries, the characters, etc. Its just wonderful.

I know there's a lot of information about content which was cut from the game, but I've never heard about the Empire Arms hotel.

The hotel is just massive but only used for two brief quests. The downstairs has multiple rooms, NPCs, so must have been a reasonable level of work.

Does anyone know if there were further plans for the hotel to be used in some way? Even a blood doll or something would make the place a lot more logical.

I loved the dialogue regarding the werewolf when siding with the anarchs

Damsel: "Wait, you too?! Am I the only one in town that didn't kill a werewolf?!"

Has anyone been enamoured with the artwork and portraits featured in VTMB?

I've always loved admiring them. Especially the sheer variety of real-world fine artists referenced in the game, such as Pietro Novelli (Cain and Abel, first half of the 17th century), Albert Charles August Racinet (Red Dragon Art), among others.

So considering I only know the stuff from vtmb, what's the best way to learn more about the lore/plot/universe? Where should I start reading up?

RIP to Spicoli. In the end, he never could've decided whether to dip his chips in chocolate syrup or peanut butter.

Came across this TikTok short recently and thought it was so awesome.

That said, it would be so cool if we had more of the VTMB locations present in LA or anywhere else for that matter.

For example, actual gothic themed nightclubs like the Asylum of Confession would be pretty awesome to check out IRL if there were any in my area. Sadly there are none :(

Hello guys, I'm playing this game for the first time with the basic unofficial patch and I just reached this part in the game in the Warrens 4 where I have to jump into a hole to continue to the next area. But every time i jump into the hole, nothing happens. There is not cutscene or anything and I just get stuck in a tiny room. Does anyone know how to fix this bug? Thanks guys

Edit: I was able to fix it by loading an old save in Warrens 3 , now it works. I think it was a bug with my save file idk.

The first time I heard the hutt's voice it was awfully familiar, especially the laugh! Lo and behold they are voiced John DiMaggio.

Just a random fact that caught me off guard, but it's always cool to find voice actors you like in other games without knowing.
