Announcement MUST READ Clarification of all of the rules!
When a community has rules, they are to be followed. I am unsure why there has been a rise of posts that do not follow the rules, I'm going to assume it's because people don't check them - although they are on the right hand side of the screen.
I'm going to clarify all of the rules. Nothing should be confusing after this post. If you have an issue or want us to change a rule, feel free to leave a comment or speak to us through modmail. Do not DM the mods.
1. Before posting, check the pinned posts and the sidebar.
Checking the pinned posts means that you do not spam posts about a specific topic. When there is an issue, there will usually be a pinned post. Please post any complaints or worries under that specific pinned post. If there is a new influx of scams, PLEASE don't flood the community. We want r/Wattpad to be a place where people share their stories.
The sidebar exists to remind you of the rules. These rules should always be checked before making a post.
2. Be civil and respectful.
Disagreement is normal. Being frustrated at someone is also normal. However, expressing yourself by insulting another person is not tolerated. We will follow these actions up with an immediate ban.
3. Don't spam.
This is straightforward. Don't post the same thing over and over again. As for ads, you are prohibited from posting the same ad within 7 days of the most recent post.
4. Piracy is not condoned.
Piracy is illegal. Any form of piracy will result in an immediate permanent ban. Authors spend their time on writing their stories, and to unfairly steal their work to post on other sites/read them for free is not tolerated.
5. NSFW posts must be marked NSFW.
This applies if your book and/or post is NSFW. Any posts that are not marked properly will be removed.
6. Respect user privacy.
Providing personal information of another person will result in a permanent ban. Do not ever harass another user by revealing their identity.
7. No brigading or shaming
We don't care how pissed you are, or if you think you are funny. Brigading is annoying, it floods the subreddit and it can be upsetting for members of our community. Additionally, shaming users for their posts/books/anything is banned. Anyone shaming another person will have their post(s) removed.
8. Tag posts appropriately.
The orange tags are for ads only. If you would to discuss about a certain genre, other flairs are available. If you find that your post does not seem to go with any of the flairs, you can select 'Other'. Simply put, wrongly tagged posts will be removed.
9. Cover-related posts are prohibited.
Anything to do with your cover should go to r/WattpadCovers and not here.
10. Spamming fake reports are not allowed.
Any user caught spamming fake reports to target or harass another user (or even just to be annoying) will be banned. Do not waste our time spamming reports.
11. Topic not allowed.
Especially after the Wattpad guidelines updated, we noticed a lot of users talking about switching to AO3 or other sites. This is not allowed. Additionally, if you post about anything that does not have to do with Wattpad, your post will be removed.
12. No AI-generated content.
AI steals work. Using AI is unacceptable, and you are nowhere near an author if your books are generated with AI. If your book is edited with AI, or if you have asked AI about a chapter, or a plot line, or if your book has been near AI, your post will be removed. This includes your cover being AI. A simple Google search can explain the disadvantages of using AI. Plus, people don't want to read lifeless AI works.
13. No discussion on anything related of AI.
Harassing another person for using AI is prohibited. This falls under rule 2. You are not allowed to make posts discussing AI, whether in favour of it or not.
14. English only.
All posts should be in English. This does not include books. Our moderation team speak English, so it will help us moderate easier.
Any posts not following these rules will be removed.
I understand that some of you may disagree or feel that some of these rules have not been explained clear enough, and you are free to say that in the comments.

Weekly Promotion Bi-Weekly Self-Promotion! Advertising on the more down-low.
Welcome to bi-weekly Self-Promotion thread!
Advertise here with what (I hope) is fewer restrictions than normally posting in the feed! At the very least, story ads here require the following:
- Wattpad story links (we're a Wattpad subreddit lol)
However, to interest users, it's recommended to include the following:
- Story title
- Blurb
If your submission doesn't appear, feel free to contact a mod! Reddit's spam filter will sometimes remove posts and comments, which results in a mod having to manually approve the post.
Reminder:
The post is set to contest mode, so the stories will appear in a random order, and child comments will only be seen by people who want to check them.
This post will be active for approximately two weeks.

Off-Topic new wattpad community.
hello! i’m hoping this post finds you all well! like the title says, i’m wanting to create a new wattpad community. you might have heard of a few communities that are still running today, but it’s been a few years since an active, lively new community was created, formed, and really rocketed up in numbers.
i, personally, miss the way we used to join communities and meet new people on wattpad after the forums closed. i miss the feedback opportunities, the writing advice, the support we gave one another, and the services people offered (like graphic design shops etc.) so i figured, why not try to revive that part of wattpad that feels like it’s been lost over the last few years? as someone who’s been part of several communities, some of which i’ve since left, i’d like to establish a new one focused on engaging with both new and experienced authors, called reverie.
there’s already a discord server set up and ready to welcome new members, as well as opportunities for people to get involved and help us grow. our hope is to build something big enough to not only create a thriving community again, but to also remind people that wattpad doesn't have to be dominated by ai-generated content.
there’s also a wattpad account dedicated to the community, where we’ll be sharing more information about its creation, development, and goals. one of those goals is taking a firm stance against ai-generated content on a creative platform where, in our opinion, it simply shouldn’t belong.
that’s right! this community will only be open to people who do not use ai in their writing or their covers. if you currently use it, abandoning that use would be a requirement for joining. why is this so important to us though? recently, one of my biggest concerns with many wattpad and discord communities has been the growing acceptance of ai content and the creation of spaces that actively accommodate it. meanwhile, genuine writers are being forced to compete against machine-generated works, and some are even seeing their own work stolen and repurposed through ai.
personally, as a writer, it's exhausting to constantly have to now battle the fast-publishing, thousands of generated works that are being posted every day and overshadowing real creative work. i believe that we need a stronger pushback against the popularity of ai-generated content. we need to emphasise why it’s harmful and why it shouldn’t have a place in creative spaces. more importantly, we need to redirect our focus toward helping new writers develop their skills the proper way, rather than relying on a machine to do the work for them.
we want this community to be a place that encourages people to improve. not to be perfect, because to us, wattpad has always been known and loved for its imperfections, but to learn, develop, and become better writers through practice and effort like writers have always done in the past. more importantly, we need a community that stands by this principle, works hard to improve, and strives to do better through its own creativity, dedication, and passion for writing original work.
you may disagree with this anti-ai stance, and that’s completely okay. if so, this community probably won’t be for you, and there are plenty of other servers that will happily accept you. but if you agree that ai has no place in the creative process, please consider joining, helping out, and becoming part of the team. we’re currently looking for mentors, book club admins, moderators, general support staff, graphic designers, and anyone motivated to make a genuine impact on the community.
if you're interested, please let us know here! alternatively, you can search for wattpad servers on disboard and find one called reverie. it’s brand new, so it won’t be especially active just yet, but we’d love for people to join, kickstart discussions, and help us grow the community naturally. hopefully, we can eventually have people overseeing different areas of the server, from mentorship and writing support to graphic design and book club management. ultimately, we just want to create a genuinely helpful, engaging, and welcoming community. don't you want that too?
this is the link for the wattpad profile, the link for the discord server or if you'd prefer, you can dm (or comment) to let me know if you’re interested!
IMPORTANT: please do not advertise your own servers, or servers you are currently in, under this post. i have joined many communities over the last few months, including some that are popular and supposedly against ai, and they have consistently let me down in this regard. that's ultimately why i made the decision to create a new community myself. believe me, even some of the servers you think are safe often aren't, contrary to popular belief. many of the communities some of you have recommended to me before are ones i've already looked into. i've simply made the choice not to invest my time in communities that do not take GenAI use seriously, even when they claim to oppose it. those communities may still be good for certain things, but actively pushing back against the rise of GenAI is not one of them.
this particular value of mine is something i want to emphasise because it is a stance i absolutely cannot negotiate on. if a community is willing to turn a blind eye to ai use, make exceptions for it, or refuse to enforce its own position on it, then it isn't the kind of community i'm interested in building or being part of. that is just how it is. reverie exists because i believe there should be a space that takes this issue seriously, stands by its principles, and are consistent in enforcing them.

General Help QUESTION: do you write as you go or write your whole book then publish?
Curious to see people's take on this, personally, I waited till I had at least 5 chapters written before I started publishing, but I also know that many readers prefer to read full completed books over books that aren't finished yet

Looking For: Lost Books What happened to*Janedoewriting*'s account , the writer of ' The playgirl's lover' ??
I remember there used to be a writer named Janedoewriting if I'm not mistaken. She has written some really amazing stories. I remember reading "The playgirl's lover" and a sequel to that novel (whose name I've forgotten). It's been quite some time and I had this urge of wanting to read it again. Since last week I've been trying to find her page , the novels everywhere, but to no avail.
Does anyone know what happened to her account?

Looking For: Recommendations Looking for books to read
Hello everyone, I recently redownloaded wattpad (I haven’t used the application for almost 6 years now) and I’m a bit confused honestly and I kinda feel like wattpad lost its aura and is not the same as it was.
So I’m here looking for some book suggestions, mainly romance, with a real story and well developed characters. I would prefer the book to be complete so that I don’t have to wait for chapters to be posted.
Thank you in advance

Romance Before It Went Anywhere
Hi everyone!
I'm sharing my completed short story collection, Before It Went Anywhere.
Genre: Literary fiction / Contemporary short stories
Length: ~10,000 words | 10 stories | Complete
Ten years. Ten stories. And not quite a love story among them.
A collection of almost-relationships, missed connections, awkward dates, and the moments that stayed long after they ended.
It's about modern dating, the people we almost loved, and the connections that never went anywhere—but somehow stayed with us.
I'm especially looking for honest reader feedback:
Which story stayed with you the most, and why?
Which story felt weakest or didn't work for you, and why?
Would you recommend this collection to a friend? Why or why not?
Constructive criticism is very welcome. This is my first collection, and I'd genuinely love to know how it reads to someone who doesn't know me.
Read it free on Wattpad:
https://www.wattpad.com/story/410006109
Thank you for giving it a chance! ❤️

Milestone I’ve started writing a continuation of Dance Academy: The Movie!
Hi everyone! I’ve recently started writing a Dance Academy fanfiction on Wattpad called The Things We Couldn’t Save (A Dance Academy Story).
It’s set two years after the events of Dance Academy: The Movie and follows Tara, Christian, Ben, and the others as they navigate adulthood, relationships, new opportunities, and some unexpected challenges.
I’ve also brought back some characters who appeared in the original TV series but weren’t in the movie, so the story includes familiar faces from both the show and the film!
The story will include drama, emotional
moments, complicated relationships, unexpected reunions, and plenty of references to the characters and events we already know
I’ve only just published Chapter 1, so there’s plenty more to come!
If you’d like to check it out, my Wattpad username is @vintagecola07. It’s the account with the beaver profile picture
The story is called The Things We Couldn’t Save (A Dance Academy Story)
I’d love to hear what other Dance Academy fans think!

General Help Does anybody know what happened to the author MelTheBookAddict?
There is this one story i read ten or so years ago that i legit loved but the author just fell off the face of the earth. The story is called “Project Popularity” and yes it is cliche but its has very likeable characters and is a well-written story so i was very sad the author just stopped updating the chapters :( and that was many years ago.
I guess i’m just wondering what happened to the author MelTheBookAddict. Does anyone know?
