October is here! Here are this month's questions:
Do you have favorite Halloween themed scent? Do you have a piece of gear that you think fits the season? What is it?
Is there a scent that reminds you of a specific fall memory?
Any favorite fall-time activities you enjoy? Apple picking? Pumpkin carving? Leaf crunching?
Anyone have any good pumpkin-based or pumpkin adjacent recipes?
Do you have a favorite film/game/book you like to revisit this time of year?
Any new items you're looking to pick up now that the Fall season is in full swing?
Do you have any favorite fall-time beverages? Spiced Cider? Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Feel free to share!
New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

Thank you.

I recently had a recommendation to get a shave soap and brush by my dad. Taconic Urban Woods and a Ichabod Conk Boar brush. Thought the idea was way better than using Barbersol or a gel.
Then I found this sub while lurking and seeking answers lol. I thought no way would I end up using a DE blade but I went and picked up a cheaper Van Der Hagen and shaved with it yesterday.
Not only was it super enjoyable but no nics or irritation which irritation was a huge problem I had with disposable razor heads.
Thanks to this sub I'm kinda hooked. I already have a sampler pack of blades coming and while running around this weekend found a unused little 1965 Gellette Travel Tech with case for $15 at an antique shop. I can see how this can turn into a little bit of a hobby lol.
Either way, I've seen a lot of good advice on hear and I'll take any that I can get. I'll probably just use my cheapy or travel tech a bit before diving in head first but so far I can already tell I won't go back to disposable. I can't believe it's taken me this long to figure this out.

Decided to take the plunge on the Fatip il Grosso after I heard so much about it...crooked head and all, I'm hoping mine isn't too bad. The packaging looks like it had been opened already. Not a good start but hoping it's worth it.🤞

First time using the R41 and the Pinaud Clubman aftershave
Brush - Omega pure badger
Razor - Muhle R41 Grande
Blade - Feather (new)
Preshave- Proraso sandalwood
Shaving cream - TOBS sandalwood
Aftershave - Omega alum stick and Pinaud Clubman
Moisturiser - Nivea sensitive cool
First time using the R41 and Clubman
Loved how smooth the R41 feels and I'm glad I bought one after a year of contemplating lol
Can't wait to get even better with the razor.
The Pinaud Clubman is such a lovely smell and I'm not sure how to describe it exactly. Sort of a fruity classic smell to it.
Definitely recommend the R41 if you're curious about it and like a nice smooth yet aggressive shave

Hi all, just received this late model 1912 earlier today - internet says it's circa 1948 -1953 and that would make it one of the last of its type, a series of razors I am very fond of.
I see these come up for sale every now and then and have quite fancied one. To be fair I think I just love the handle hehe - light saber vibes
This old thing hadn't been used/cleaned since then as it had an old 50s blade in it and some matching wrappers in the box. It was probably thee worst I've ever had in terms of green gunk, old soap, and tons of hair - enough to put you off your dinner - I ain't joking.
It's been soaked, scrubbed, brushed, tooth picked, flossed, WD40'd, barbicide and Silvo polished 😅 - Should be safe now hehehe
Anyway thought I'd show some pics, including the ones before cleaning. Hope to have a shave with it later
Cheers🍻

I've been playing around with the order of everything, how I want it to look and I think I've got it.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be able to do cards in the display but I did think of a couple different ideas. I'll either go old school and print a catalog and have a 3-ring binder OR,get a small display and find a program to run on a raspberry PI. It will show the digital catalog I'm currently typing up on a word document like PowerPoint slides, kinda like the info screens at interactive museums or malls or company digital message boards.

Theme :Time warp Monday, A mostly German shave the blade being the only exception for today's theme shave with a soap which has been around before you were born and Tabac fits the bill there .
Here is a wee bit of history about Tabac from there website.
Say what you like about the scent but for me it provides a damn good shave .
I spotted this poster in one of the pubs we visited last night.
Daily challenge, this was just silly .

I cant really say this is one of the worst shaving experiences I have ever had, because its actually just straight up the worst. At this price I expected the razor to be as advertised good on sensitive skin, good on course hair, and able to deliver a clean efficient shave. Van Der Hagen razor is small, and hard to maneuver due to its blade shape design, it cannot get into nooks or folds of skin (such as around the jawline) and cuts you easily. Even at the lowest setting which is for sensitive skin it just leaves you with and unclean shave, and at the highest setting there is hardly a noticeable change since the design of the razors head is so bad. It misses alot of hair, especially if you have acne and even on smooth surfaces such as the cheeks and neck it still leaves alot to be desired. I couldnt even finish my shave because Van Der Hagen was so bad. Ive tried electric shaver, bic razors, gilette, and harry's and so far I would rank Van Der Hagen at the bottom. 1/10

Alla fine ho ceduto e me lo sono regalato. Non vedo l'ora di provarlo. Al momento la mia collezione vanta un Merkur 34C, in Gillette King C. Penso che il Gillette andrà in pensione...

TSA just confiscated my muhle R89 even though i removed the blade from it, so i’m in the market for a new razor now. i want to try the razorock gamechanger but im a bit overwhelmed by the options. im not sure what parts to buy from italian barber since they’re all separate. recommendations on what handle and what size base plate would be helpful.

Had an absolutely fantastic shave to kick off the day with the King C. Gillette fixed with a Kai, before finishing a little Shave Compass work and watching my Rams crush it. Rounded off by a fantastic dinner with my family and a little extra pour on the bourbon. Going to bed a blessed man.
Be kind and enjoy the moment.
Cheers! 🍻

I've been using this for the past month along with Thayers witch hazel tonic and it's probably the best my skin has been for daily/every other day shaving. I'd sometimes get chin whiteheads shaving and they've completely stopped.
I did switch to cold water shaving like a year ago and that helped a lot too. Also dropped alum blocks a while back as they just caused redness.
It does mean I've mostly dropped aftershaves with the Thayers and instead opted to put the balm on and leave it at that. Miss them for the smell, but I guess perfect skin matters more!
Just a tip for anyone with sensitive skin that a Cica balm may help you out.
I've been shaving with a "Henson" ++ (Kampfe clone) the past month to try out the design. Routinely BBS without irritation. Going to try the +++ clone shortly. I have tried + (mild) and it just wasn't enough for my coarse hair.
Does anyone else use balms like this?

I forgot to post this last night, so please forgive me.
- Maggard V3A on a Maggard MR11 handle
- Personna Comfort Coated (1)
- Maggard 24mm synthetic
- Maggard Limes & Bergamot soap & (alcohol) splash
I started my shave with a nice hot shower, then got my lather going in my usual mug. If you know me, then you know this is one of my favorite soaps (and splashes!), so you'll know that I think very highly of it. As usual, it produced a thick and slick lather in no time!
The Personna blue was my go to for years in a 34C, before I started branching out in both razor and blade. I find it a little more aggressive in this V3A than I care for, but not so much that I dislike it; it just needs a little more care to avoid nicks. That said, the splash didn't reveal any, so I consider this shave to be a success!
I'm skipping tonight, and we'll see how tomorrow goes; I have a couple of packages that will be here, but it will be a late night. In any case, I hope everyone starts the week off right tomorrow, and happy shaving!
(No, I'm not sponsored by Maggard, I just really like their stuff!)
