Early on in Claremont's run Nightcrawler was depicted as being able to turn invisible in the dark. However this was retconned in the Classic X-Men version, so he no longer had the ability. What are some other examples of abilities that disappeared over the years?

I am curious on what got everyone in this sub into X-Men!
For me comic wise it was during the black vortex arc in 2015. I really loved Kitty, and Beast in it. I wanted to see where it went after for them both! Beforehand I remember the early X-Men movies, and thinking they were kind of silly when I was little. I love Quicksilver so much, and Days of Future Past.

https://www.reddit.com/r/xmen/comments/1x9g3hm/as_a_fire_star_fan_not_only_is_maximum_x_men_a/ In my previous firestar post I made it clear that I did not enjoy Angelica arc during the Krakoa era mostly because of the comic treated the bullying as right and deserved but then I remember that the first issue isn’t even out yet and yost has proven in the past that he’s a very very competent writer his x23 run shows that however I do like to know in what world is Angelica a washout? everything she did during her time in the new warriors and avengers show that she isn’t and if the comic implies that she’s a washout for prioritizing her mental health after Jean couldn’t be bothered to clear her name after the fall of x when she came back then that fucking disgusting and the x men fans who think that should be ashamed for even believing that Angelica deserves the cruelty she got during that era because and if any of the members tried to lecture her despite the fact that they have bodies hiding in their closet im dropping the x men lines but like I said im giving yost the benefit of the doubt

Dracula vs X-Men, Storm becomes a vampire. Night Screams is a great stand alone story, with art from the incredible Bill Sienkiewicz. Forty four years later and Storm as a vampire is still kickin' around.
Do y'all have a favorite spooky X-Men story? It's always fun to see the team battle it out with monsters.

Gotta say I’m about 8 issues in the trade and man do I love this. I’m loving the callbacks and subtle references to Claremont era, the sinister stuff. I love that it’s this dense complex high concept almost dune esque narrative. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little confused at times but man I’m excited to eventually read main krakoa era after this. This feels like the natural evolution of hunted/feared to the messiness of running a country which itself even has its own problems from the outset like the underlying prof x stuff I’m interested to find out more about. I think even alone as a set of 12 issues might be one of my favorite x men comics I’ve read. What do you guys think I know I’m very late to the party.

I seen this conversation topic around YouTube in TikTok and it is very mixed to some people.
There are some uneducated people, that believe that all mutants have dangerous powers therefore, Marvel citizens have every right to fear and hate them.
I personally think that’s a ignorant ass take, because some mutants don’t have that kind of powers
They look different, therefore certain people are going to be bigot towards them.
Personally, I think it’s no different than what’s going on nowadays in 2026 racism on minorities, (especially with Black people) is getting louder and louder like calling 🧊 on someone and calling the cops on a black 3 year old for simply being good at soccer…
Overall, do y’all really think the X-Men or mutants in general or a good analogy for minorities?
I personally think powers know, but skin color? yes
