rant Enough with the electric moped delivery drivers

Anyone else completely done with the food delivery drivers in Zurich treating bike lanes and sidewalks like their personal racetrack?

Every single day I see these electric mopeds flying down the pedestrian and bike paths at full speed, no slowing down, no looking, just blasting past pedestrians and cyclists like we don't exist. Nearly got taken out twice last week alone. They're not even trying to use the road and there is no sound from these machines so it is extremely dangerous.

I get that they're under time pressure, but that doesn't give them the right to turn every path into a death trap. It's aggressive, reckless, and somehow always gets a free pass.

discussion Brauche eure Hilfe für meine VA zum Thema Make-up!

Hallo zusammen!

rant Rant about Fcz fans

Me and a friend were heading to Basel today to watch GC vs Basel away, for context we’re 17 and 18 but not ultras or anything we were just trying to go watch a match. Anyway when we’re walking towards the platform with the Extrazug some guys wearing Fcz jackets asked us if we were going to watch football. Although we were and had scarfs in our pockets we said no and tried to walk on. About 30 seconds later 8 guys start following us, smiling and asking us if we like football. Maybe even filming, we then decided we didn’t wanna become a news story said screw this and got on the first train we saw and took it a stop. I know GC fans aren’t always saints either but it genuinely sucks that you can’t watch a football without fear of violence in Switzerland of all places. Worst part is I recognized one of the guys who has a history of arrests and violence so I’m scared I’ve been identified as a „Hopper“ and will be targeted randomly if they got our faces on video. Anyway Rant over

Had to watch it on Blue Sport in my living room in the end :/

Edit: My friend almost got beaten up on the train home from a match a few weeks ago before a policeman intervened. This was the first time we tried to go since.

Merci vielmal!

lookingfor Zurich guys, where are you?

I’m 26, live in Zurich and somehow realised that while I know quite a few people, I’ve never really had that small, close-knit group of guy friends that regularly hangs out and actually stays in touch.
I’m basically looking for a group of guys who have their own lives, jobs, relationships and responsibilities, but still make time for each other. The kind of friendships where you can plan something for the weekend, randomly text “beer tonight?” or “anyone up for doing something?” and actually make it happen.
Nothing complicated — grabbing a beer, going out, watching football, gaming, travelling somewhere for the weekend, trying a new restaurant, hitting the gym, going to an event or just hanging out and talking shit for a few hours.
I’d especially like to meet people who are open-minded, easy-going and actually interested in building new friendships rather than just meeting once and never speaking again.
If you’re roughly 23–32, live in Zurich or nearby and feel like your social circle could use a few new people too, feel free to reach out.
Maybe we can start with a beer, coffee or something casual and see who gets along. 🍻
A bit about me:
I’m 26, work in tech/retail and live around Zurich. I’m into technology, travelling, gaming, history, going out for drinks, trying new restaurants and occasionally doing spontaneous trips or activities. I can be pretty social, but I also enjoy just having a relaxed evening with good conversations.
Would be cool if this somehow turned into a proper group of guys who regularly do things together instead of everyone saying “we should definitely do something sometime” and then disappearing for six months. 😄

lookingfor Looking for someone I saw at Zähringerbar on Saturday

Hi Zurich!

This might be a long shot, but I'm looking for someone I saw on Saturday evening at Zähringerbar. I didn't have the courage to ask if she'd like to stay in touch, and I've been thinking about it ever since.

I've never done anything like this before, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post something like this. I hope it's okay, as I want to approach this as respectfully as possible.

I was at Zähringerbar on Saturday evening with my sister and a male friend. We were sitting at a table playing a card game.

Later that evening, a group of four came in, two women and two men. One of the women immediately caught my attention. She had incredibly long black hair, almost down to her lower back, and honestly one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen.

We exchanged glances a few times throughout the evening. At some point, they moved their table right next to ours.

When we were leaving, I noticed that her friend's jacket was on the floor, so I pointed it out. That's when she turned to me, gave me a huge smile, thanked me and wished me a lovely evening.

That was the moment I wish I'd asked if she'd like to stay in touch. But I got nervous and didn't.

A little description, in case she or someone from her group reads this:

She looked around 25–28 years old, had very long black hair, East Asian features (I hope that's an okay way to describe it), and a smile that's honestly hard to forget. The group was speaking English, but she also replied to me in German.

And to recognise me: I was the guy in a wheelchair, wearing a green fleece jacket, black trousers and with dark brown hair.

I'm not asking anyone to share her personal information. But if you happen to know her, maybe you could show her this post and let her decide if she'd like to get in touch.

And if you're reading this yourself: I'd really love to get to know you. Maybe we could grab a drink sometime?

Thanks for reading, and I hope you had a lovely evening!

lookingfor Any girls in the Zurich area looking for girlfriends?

Hi! I’m 36F and have been living in Switzerland for many years, but most of my friends have moved away lately. I find it really hard to make friends here and build real connections. I’m looking for ladies who enjoy running, traveling, cinema, coffee/brunch/matcha, city walks and good chats about life. Above all, happy vibes!

Women only please 💙 Feel free to comment or DM me!

ihaveaquestion New Parkkartenverordnung 2027 - Question

Neu gilt ab 1. Januar 2027:

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/de/mobilitaet/parkieren/parkkartenverordnung.html

---

As this is very good urban policy, I am not allowed to get mad at this even though it is moderately inconvenient for me personally lol.

Anyway, I have a question:

My building does have an underground car park, but it is not included with the flat. The spots are rented out separately, even to non-residents, I think, so theoretically they could all be taken. One could argue that if I have to rent it at extra cost, or all places are taken, it isn't "zur Verfügung". How do they want to check that?

What do you think? My interpretation is probably too optimistic, as the goal is to force you to use the private parking, but it seems a bit ambivalent.

ihaveaquestion Working for the Kanton

Anyone here working for the Kanton? How is the work-life-balance? How does your salary compare to the Privatwirtschaft? Would you still move to the Kanton if you knew then what you know now?

I’m working in Finance and usually happy with my job. Stress is OK. Salary/Bonus is OK. But no inflation adjustment or salary raise in 4 years. Recognition in words is there, but again, not in the shape of a raise or promotion. Promotion not likely in the next 3 years, which bothers me. Regarding liking the job, some parts of the job are fun/interesting, others less so. And every quarter there’s at least one occurance where I want to quit on the spot, but then calm down and decide to stay. The people in the team are amazing.

Anyone any idea of what I could try?

ihaveaquestion ME/CFS

Kurze Umfrage zu ME/CFS in Zürich und Umgebung 🇨🇭
Hallo zusammen! 👋
🔹 Ich habe selbst ME/CFS.

lookingfor Where to get hair straightener repaired?

My ghd hair straightener is broken. Only one of the 2 ceramic plates heats up properly. This thing was expensive enough and I really don’t want to throw it away and contribute to electronic waste if there is any chance I could get this fixed. Does anybody know where I can get it fixed in zurich?

discussion Single people of Zurich, what are you struggling with when it comes to dating?

Hoi zäme,

This weekend we finally got some rain which meant more time inside scrolling dating apps again 😂.

I’ve been using the apps for almost a year now and I think I have managed to go through all 9 circles of hell and have arrived at a point where I use them without much expectation. I would say my experience was “not great, not terrible” overall.

I would like to hear from other single people, what are you having a hard time with when it comes to dating. Either using apps or outside of them.

I can start with myself: I don’t really go out that much, so meeting people offline doesn’t really happen. I always find it funny when people say they meet at supermarkets or during their train commute 😅.
I know I should start going out more, but it feels like I am just forcing myself to do it in order to meet someone.

I’m also taking the opportunity with this post to try and restart this sub: r/zurich_dates
Would be nice to keep the dating talk out of the main sub 😅.

lookingfor Where can I buy one roll of grass?

Can someone help me here, I really want to have a "porch potty" for my puppy I'm getting soon but I can't figure out where I can buy just one roll of real grass from?! Online adds 60-80 francs delivery and one roll of grass is about 20 francs.

I feel like this shouldn't be so hard to find 🙈

I have yet to start calling garden centres but I was very naive and thought I'd find some to buy in Landi, Jumbo, etc ....silly me!

Just wondering if anyone knows somewhere in or around Zurich I could easily go buy one roll of grass?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I will be bringing my dog outside but until the 2nd vaccinations are done and she can hold her bladder overnight, this is the option I'd like to go for as I don't see the point of training on puppy pads to then have to train outside as well plus I'm in an apartment and don't have a lovely grass patch right outside the door so I'm concerned for when it's super stormy out too while she's so little. If you disagree with this approach you're entitled to your opinion but I have done extensive research and am very conscious of diseases they can pick up , even if they have so called "immunity from the mum up until 16 weeks". I'm not taking the chance, end of.

lookingfor Morning or early afternoon activities for shift workers

Can you please recommend me some clubs, meetups or sport activities in morning or early afternoon hours? I work mostly in the afternoons and in the weekends and I feel that my social life has been lacking behind. I am interested especially in language meetups, sports, running clubs, ... Thank you!
