To note- Not many beat reporters (if any) still travel with the team so information and updates will be much more limited for the next week and a half outside of what gets said from Sens Communications staff and potentially opponent beat writers

Edit- Ullmark has also been confirmed to be on the trip but not on the ice today

When Brady was drafted my friends and I were driving up to the cottage and my one friend started losing his mind because he hated the pick. Fast forward a year and Brady is this man’s favourite player. But then this summers betrayal lead to this speech and jersey burning.

Man did the jersey burn fast!

Graphs are from Hockey ROI's substack on Elite Exposure and Elite Support. Dunno about how Ash has setup their data when it comes to who has the hardest 5v5 minutes, Pinto being at the bottom when we know he exclusively skates against the opp's top lines at even strength, but I couldn't help but smile seeing these.

These are all last year's numbers (25/26) that I don't think Ash is cooking to match any eye test, although there is no unexpected surprises here, so I'm curious as to what these stats are going to look like this season. Hopefully we'll get another look after the first 20 games but with Zub and Sandy missing so many games I wouldn't expect them to be league leaders, again, any time soon.

The vast majority of the chants hurled at Brady made sense. He's obviously a traitor and in Matt's shadows. You can also tell he has very little media literacy. However, I still don't get how people came to the conclusion that he eats crayons as a joke.

Just curious how you guys feel about where the cap and individual salaries are going. I have concerns about Canadian teams, apart from Toronto. Sandy is going to get 20+ USD, how does Timmy not get the same. How the hell do these markets compete. I wonder how Andlauer is feeling haha. League ran the price up on him and he buys in just before salaries skyrocket. Oh, someone also needs to drop a cool billion on a new rink.

Thank you for your service Reimer 🫡

I got the feeling that one of them meetings this year between the Senators and the Panthers, somebody's gonna drop the gloves with Boss Baby. Who do you think is most likely combatant?

Anyone get one of those hats last night, and not into it?

Would love to get my hands on a couple, one for me one for my son. Send me a DM if you've got one or two you're willing to part with.

Thanks folks. Go Sens!

Good finish at home, California swing to galvanize the boys early in the season.

Pp needs some serious work...

After shitposting about Vegas...

headed down to grocery store, here in central Oregon, to get something to eat and snack for the game. As I'm perusing the chip aisle, random dude in a Nucks t-shirt comes up to me (I'm wearing my Sens hoodie) and says "great job the other night with Tkachuk. Fuck that guy"

Fucking highlight of my day to recognized as a Sens fan so far from home.

I have been thinking about the day the guy was drafted, Karlsson not going to meet him because he was also on his way out. Thinking about the first couple seasons to now, having watched him become a premier power forward. I have been thinking about what he gave this city during his time here and I keep arriving at the same conclusion - Tkachuk's best contribution here was leaving.

We all know of the late game heroics when the score is out of reach, daddy and big brother issues, cringe podcasts and all more reasons we kind of just tolerated and defended him as one of our own.

Draft capital and Staios' mastery of the situation notwithstanding, have you ever seen the Senators organization and fans get more accolades than we just did?

As fans of our team, I know we don't really care about what others think of us, same as our opinions likely dont mean much to them. But maybe we never fully shook our self consciousness stemming from shaky attendance, occasionally quiet barn and our years as the "dumpster fire" franchise.

Tkachuk leaving and returning to such hostility and vitriol almost undid all of that in a night. The tribute video was the right thing to do, just like our fans were right to boo (and more).

Conclusion: the best thing he did for us was leave. On the ice, off the ice, as an organization and a fan base, we are truly better off.
