Everyday Life Who else had to be in when the streetlights came on?
Who else had to at least be home when the streetlights came on? Share the rules you had for being home at night. I lived in the city so it was the streetlights, but maybe it was different for you. When I visited the small town my cousins lived in, it was by dark.

Screwballs. I liked the bubble gum ball at the bottom, but it was always hard as a jawbreaker.
Still tried to make a bubble but not too much success.

im 70’s-maxing as some people would call it
Recently i have been diving deeper into 1970’s media more and more, such as more music and even television shows. My favorites right now to watch are three’s company & the partridge family. And you know what, it’s better than some modern day tv shows!
My grandma recently gave me some albums that my mom had when she was younger, and oh boy… Shaun Cassidy and Andy Gibb… I’m obsessed. Idk how i never listened to Shaun before, since I’ve liked 70’s music for a few years now, how did i miss him?
Other random 70’s things I’ve been kinda collecting are fragrances (that are still made) and vintage Avon, cause who doesn’t love the cute stuff they used to have? I’m living my dream life going to bed watching my 70s sitcoms, doing my hair like farrah, and gawking at my celebrity crushes that are either old or dead lol. Mentally im an old woman trapped in a 26 year old body ♥️

Everyday Life As a kid in the 70’s do you remember playing Cat’s Cradle? All you needed was a string and someone to play with.

Remember when they sold fish, turtles, birds and little animals at Kmart (Woolworths too)?
You didn't need to go into a specialty pet shop to see them. I remember in our city, back in the day, there was a landscape/nursery that had a section that sold pets. They had a big galvanized tank and it was full of baby alligators! No kidding! This is in Colorado mind you. My brother got his tarantulas there. For some reason, my mom wouldn't let him get an alligator.🤔

Do you think any of the Westerns made from the 80's until now can stand up to the Westerns from the 70's?
I'm not sure but I think the genre itself was more popular in the 70's than it is now. Maybe it was my family or lack of having multiple channels to watch but it seemed like there were a lot more Westerns back in the day than you see now, or maybe they were just more memorable than the ones made today. 🤷♀️

Did your mom or grandmother wear these scarves after her weekly hairdresser appointment?
That's something kids in the 70s decided not to wear.

Canada Dry was the only company that had this flavor.

Movies One of the most eerie aspects of Nosferatu the Vampyre is the mysterious violin-playing boy. Jonathan Harker follows his music but cannot find him. He is later able to see the boy, indicating his journey into the world of phantoms.

Discussion 1971– A brand new Ford Pinto for $1,919! Which one would you have bought?
I came across this car ad and thought it was interesting to see what new cars cost in 1971. Did you own any of these at some point? Or someone else you knew? My Dad worked at General Motors, we always had an Impala.
