Leverevolution 108eldm data
Anyone else find hornadys load data with 108s and leverevolution to be extremely optimistic? Not sure if my lot of powder is fast, or if their data is bad but 29.7 is definitely too hot for my gun. 14.5" CLE barrel, rexus bolt. First two looked to be a bit over gassed but were ejecting to about 3:30, 3rd stuck hard enough I couldn't get it out mortaring and had to tear it back down enough to be able to put in my barrel vice to knock it out. ~2625, 2630, 2650 seems smoking hot out of a 14.5" barrel. Had been using a JP bolt but swapped to a rexus immediately before shooting 2 of my previous gas gun load (~29.3gr cfe223), then 3 more of the lvr I wanted to test, had worked up to 29.1 without issue previously
Only other things I can think of is some of the starline had developed rough spots of corrosion, maybe that contributed to it sticking...or maybe the headspace was a bit tighter with the rexus bolt. At least it held 😬
Hoping for Craddock to get some bolts back in stock, but 29.7 looked probably too hot for my gun no matter the bolt...or I had something else going on.
Starline brass, cci450, LVR 29.7, 2.255oal
Gun shoots everything I've ran through it great, glad nothing appears to have been damaged. Closely examined lugs, cam pin etc, all seems fine.
Ideally I'd just run the 30.0 of CFE I run in my bolt gun, but that's a fair bit past gas gun max and thought I was doing good by going by the book and going to lvr for more speed. I've ran a few through of the 30.0 through it, not nearly the pressure signs of the 29.7gr LVR load.
Am I the only one that seems to find their book data way too high with specifically LVR and heavies? Hate to work out the hammer puller but I'm not sure I want to run that even through my bolt gun, despite it being ~1.5gr under bolt gun max.
Hodgdon shows ~28.2 LVR to be max with similar weight projectiles, which sounds more in line with what I saw.
