I don't eat. AMA.

About 7.5 years ago, I (27F) started losing the ability to eat and drink. Now my entire digestive tract is partially paralyzed. I relied on a feeding tube for several years, and then last year I got worse and stopped tolerating feeds, and had to switch to Total Parenteral Nutrition -- TPN, or IV nutrition that goes straight into your bloodstream. AMA if you'd like :)

PS -- I also have a lot of chronic fatigue and sometimes sleep for several hours at once, so I may not respond to comments immediately, but I will get to them!

Had my Last Planned Chemo Appointment Today! AMA

Hello all,

I 26m had my last planned chemotherapy today. Hopefully the coming pet scan confirms I am in remission.

I have high hopes that I will be remission but I keep room for doubt, about 5%. I am diagnosed with stage 4 hodgkin's lymphoma.

Please ask anything you like relating/revolving to my diagnosis or my state of being with it. It can be more than just what lead up to it, like my day to day.

I died for a minute in a car accident and woke up with my whole life changed. AMA

Hey Reddit,

A while back, I was in a serious car accident and actually flatlined for about a minute. Somehow, I made it back, but I haven’t been the same person since.
..Before the accident, I was the kind of guy who could walk into a room and get noticed without even trying. I had confidence, a certain swagger, and honestly, life felt a lot easier back then. I didn’t really have to think about how people saw me or whether I was good enough.

Now, I feel like the complete opposite. I’m just an ordinary guy trying to figure out who I am and where I fit in. I mean, sometimes, I even feel like people look at me differently than they used to.

…One of the hardest things to deal with has been the change in attention I get from women. Before, it felt like something that happened naturally. Now, I find myself missing that feeling and sometimes wondering what happened to the guy I used to be. It’s a weird thing to admit, but losing that confidence has affected me more than I ever expected.

Like, the accident didn’t just change my body; It changed my mind, my outlook on life, my confidence, and pretty much my entire sense of identity. Surviving something that serious should feel like a blessing, and in many ways, it is, but there’s also a part of me that feels like I lost the person I was supposed to become.
I’ve also been through my fair share of brain and body surgeries, so there’s a whole other side to the story.

I’m still trying to figure things out and come to terms with how much my life has changed.
So, Reddit, ask me anything. About the accident, the surgeries, what it’s like to live with the aftermath, or how something like this can change the way you see yourself and the world.

Edit: My buddy and I were about to go bowling when my ex asked me to bring her some rubbing alcohol, so I took the detour and dropped it off for her.

I'm releasing a memoir called The Father, the Dog and the Conspiracy Theorist AMA

I hit rock bottom at 27 during lockdown, convinced my body was broken and self-diagnosing biological illness. In my vulnerability, I fell very deeply into the virus fear campaign. My father, a wise ex-commando, became my therapist and taught me how fear works and how the mind can make you sick through psychosomatic disorder. That lesson flipped on me: once I seen fear as a weapon, I couldn't unsee it in the pandemic narrative. I sank into the conspiracy world, clashing with family just as my father fell gravely ill. I went on a chaotic journey of self-discovery, as my dog just about stopped me from taking retribution too far...

I (F28) live rurally as an immigrant in Finland - AMA

Decided to do one of these again! Here’s a bit of context: I was born in Canada to Eastern European immigrant parents and moved to Finland when I was 25 to be with my now husband. We have a small hobby farm that we bought early this year and are slowly building it up. I previously lived in much more populated areas, though have always involved myself in rural life personally and professionally since I knew I wanted this lifestyle as early as 5 years old. AMA!

Neighbours with The Obama's. Ask Me Anything.

I am from Siaya, Kogello, a village in Kenya. We are neighbors with the Obama's his late grandma, separated by a fence, step-brother Malik and step-sister Auma. It is also the place where Obama snr was buried. (We don't bury in graveyards). We grew up as a community and would visit and call her grandma when we were kids but after Barrack became Senator in 08, they brought security and the visits lessened. His step-bro lives across the road and sister a few meters from our ancestral home. She helped us set up our community organisation which is involved with greening the environment and poverty eradication in the area and is my dad's childhood friend. What would you like to know?

I live in Russia and I like trees more than people, AMA.

During perestroika, I was a teenager, and everything that happened here seemed cool and hopeful. But with the advent of the 90s, everything turned into hell. I had to work hard to feed myself and communicate with disgusting people. Now I'm not starving like before, but I'm so disappointed in these people that I simply cut ties with everyone and want nothing to do with them.

I am Hard of Hearing AMA

I can hear sounds, even small sounds, but I can't understand speech. I had to learn English though fingerspelling and reading. I didn't qualify for deaf school so my mother taught me. The doctors and educators just thought I was intellectually disabled but I am far from that. I am intelligent and social. I just can't hear and understand speech. A few years ago I found the Deaf community and am conversational in ASL. My life is normal as long as I don't have to deal with hearing people.

I've been a 911 dispatcher for almost 7 years. AMA

For background, I work in a mid sized city in the largest center in the state. We dispatch and take calls for police, fire, and EMS for a majority of the county. The system we use to enter calls is called CAD which stands for computer aided dispatch, and once the call taker submits a call it can be viewed and updated by anyone in the room and responders can see calls and any updated comments in real time. AMA!

I love my job, it’s a field I never expected to be in but I don’t think I’ll find myself switching careers anytime soon. There are definitely a lot of assumptions and quite a bit of stigma towards the women I work with, I wish people could spend a day in my shoes to see what the environment is really like. AMA!

*VERIFIED* I’m a Community Engagement & Volunteer Leadership Development Manager at an international exchange nonprofit. Ask me anything about volunteering with AFS-USA!

Hi r/AMA! I’m a Community Engagement & Volunteer Leadership Development Manager with AFS-USA, a nonprofit organization that supports international exchange and intercultural learning. I’m here to talk candidly about what it’s like to volunteer with an international exchange organization, the many ways people can get involved with AFS-USA, and what the volunteer experience is really like.

A few things I can talk about:

  • What volunteer roles actually look like day to day
  • The different ways people can get involved with AFS-USA What it’s like to support international exchange students and host families
  • How volunteers help before, during, and after an exchange experience
  • What we look for in volunteers and what training/support they receive
  • What surprised me about working with a large volunteer network
  • The challenges and rewards of volunteer engagement
  • What it’s like working for an international exchange nonprofit
  • Questions about international exchange, hosting, and the broader AFS volunteer experience

Whether you’re curious about volunteering, have volunteered with an exchange organization before, are considering hosting an international student, or simply want to know how these organizations work behind the scenes, ask me anything! I’ll do my best to answer openly and honestly based on my experience working in volunteer engagement with AFS-USA.

I first posted on Reddit after shaving my legs first time. It was a real game changer for the fem sensation.

I have probably dressed on and off for decades. As a kid I was occasionally dressed up ah home and later recalled loving the feeling of satin and silk.

Then later I would try items on when I could.
I always thought I was pretty much alone until I found all the Reddits.

I have worked for a major supermarket in Australia for 9 years. AMA

I won't specify the exact one, but I'm sure anyone that knows, knows that Australian grocery stores are run by a duopoly. I have worked across almost all departments, worked through COVID, moved stores twice, been both TM and in management, and seen a lot of changes. AMA
