I overdosed on 15,000 mg (15g) of caffeine, Ama

This is quite old and I feel comfortable talking about this now, however the one week hospital stay where I was awake most of it and also the physical experience has made me develop a genuine phobia of caffeine.

Guess the title summerizes my life in less than 40 words. Feel free to ask me anything.

I am not sure if this is even interesting or if I am doing this the wrong way. English is not my first language, so please apologize any spelling or grammatival mistakes I´ll do while answering the questions.

I got paralized because i Jumped into a lake in 2020. Luckily some of my friends saved me from drowning. The lake was shallow and i hit a stone with my head. So after that I pushed myself up to the surface where I was able to scream: "I cant stand up", before going down again. This happend around 5 times before a friend of mine was realizing I am not joiking. And Yes, I was drunk.

I got laid off yesterday along with 550 others, Ask me anything

I got laid off yesterday with 550 other employees. We didn't get a meeting, an email or even a message over MS teams. We all lost access to our official accounts and got forcefully signed out of the computers. The HR stayed silent till the end of the day and then sent emails on our personal email IDs. AMA

I played lead guitar in a 1960s Georgia garage-rock band. We pressed just 500 copies of our 45, won a TV talent contest, and our music was rediscovered decades later. AMA!

Back in the 1960s, I played lead guitar in a Georgia garage-rock band called Red Beard & The Pirates.

We recorded an original single, "Go On Leave," backed with "Don't Be A Loser," at Atlanta Sound Recording Studios. The record was released on the small Gaye Records label, and only 500 copies were pressed.

We sold the records ourselves, never imagining that decades later anyone would still be interested in our music.

During those years, we also won a television talent competition called "Stars of Tomorrow" on Atlanta's Channel 11. Our prize was a trip to New York City to audition for the Ted Mack Amateur Hour.

Eventually, the band went its separate ways, but the recording had a life of its own.

Years later, "Go On Leave" appeared on garage-rock compilations, including Crypt Records' Back From The Grave, Gearfab's Psychedelic States: Georgia in the Sixties, and a compilation associated with Keb Darge and Cut Chemist.

Now, nearly six decades after we recorded it, I'm revisiting the original music and preserving that small piece of Georgia rock-and-roll history.

For anyone curious about my music and the recordings I'm sharing today, here's my Bandcamp page:

https://weaverstudios.bandcamp.com

I'd especially enjoy hearing from anyone who remembers the garage-band scene of the 1960s or collects obscure American 45s.

Were any of you playing in local bands back then, or have you discovered forgotten garage-rock records from that era?

I'm now 77 years old, and it's remarkable to see people still interested in music we recorded nearly 60 years ago.

I'm happy to answer questions about recording a 45 in the 1960s, the Georgia garage-rock scene, our television appearance, the equipment we used, and what happened to the band afterward.

Ask me anything!

I am a former "gifted child" AMA

• Upvotes

This isn't me boasting or anything, its an accurate label to discribe my circumstance. I am the textbook deffinition of a "gifted child" yah know, like a kid in a crappy childrens story. I got good grades, teachers told my parents "this kids got potential", got into all the honors classes etc. Well to put it bluntly that REALLY messed up my development. I developed anxiety disorders at like, two so you could imagine what all the constant, "you're a really smart kid" did to my mental image. I never felt smart and it caused me to have severe imposter syndrome. I am now 18 years old with my grades in the toilet and any hope of getting into any college CRUSHED (not that I want to anyway).

This is how I found out I had endometriosis. I spent 12 days in the hospital and was in the ICU for two days. I couldn't breathe on my own and I lost a lot of blood. I was told I could have stomach cancer! I went into surgery thinking I was going to die. AMA.

I don't eat. AMA.

About 7.5 years ago, I (27F) started losing the ability to eat and drink. Now my entire digestive tract is partially paralyzed. I relied on a feeding tube for several years, and then last year I got worse and stopped tolerating feeds, and had to switch to Total Parenteral Nutrition -- TPN, or IV nutrition that goes straight into your bloodstream. AMA if you'd like :)

PS -- I also have a lot of chronic fatigue and sometimes sleep for several hours at once, so I may not respond to comments immediately, but I will get to them!

Jessica and I have been best friends for 10 years. She has a 4-year-old daughter who I help raise, and neither of us have any romantic feelings for the other. We’re married because it makes sense for us and our situation.

Like the title says, I went though some life changes this year and have unfortunately put on a huge amount of weight in a really quick time, and it's definitely been a long journey to adjust to my new weight. I'm trying to feel a bit more confident so I thought maybe doing an AMA might help

AMA I am a pastor’s daughter

I grew up attending what is known as a a IFB church (independent fundamental Baptist)

Growing up we had mandatory church on Wednesdays and Sunday and plenty of additional church events.

In 6th grade my peers and I attended a purity ball where we pledged to our father’s to stay pure till marriage.

We were not allowed any secular music or tv shows but still snuck it occasionally (I loved Degrassi)

Eventually I went to college and had a bit of a wild phase and left the church.

AMA.

I suffer with extreme chronic dermatillomania, AMA

Context: I am 15 and 220 pounds (soon to be 16 in 2 months at the time of posting) As a younger child I struggled with picking my skin so bad it left scarring on my skin and they range in color from purple to white. If I could, id show SPOILED photos, but I'm still new to this reddit thing. I am covered in scars and it's not as simple to "just stop picking". I hate when people say that. Its a chronic disorder, not a bad habit. AMA mods, take this down if it breaks any rules I apologize, I'm still very new to reddit.

I am an illegal graffiti artist AMA

• Upvotes

For most of my life i have written graffiti. Primarily, I paint illegally will continue to do so, legal spots do not feel the same. I’m curious to see what people may want to ask about the subject as it’s not a common conversation that can be had with strangers. I’ve posted on this thread before with this same statement and get different lines of conversation each time so i’m eager to answer any questions, judgments or opinions on the matter.

I just accepted my first professional job offer 1.5 years out of college. Ask me anything!

I graduated with a business degree in May of '25, and boy oh boy has the job market been brutal. I've been working at Home Depot paint department for the last year to work on my student loans/build savings as I lived at home with my parents and continued to job search. The president of a local 3rd party fulfilment company came in, and I provided some "above and beyond" service to help solve a problem he had. It impressed him, we shared contact info, and 3 weeks later here I am as the new Office and Administration Manager. I start Tuesday. Ask me anything!

I’m not religious, I come from a Muslim background, I find my self praying and practicing but I’m not like extreme about it and I don’t really speak about it to anyone. I don’t wear the hijab. I respect everyone’s backgrounds and life choices and I’m pretty chill lol. I’ve had a rebel phase with 2 arab parents that are old, I’m close to my family and I travel every year to explore a new country. I just wonder what someone might have to ask me.

My Brother is a Compulsive Liar, AMA.

• Upvotes

Hi! Pretty much as the title says, my brother (19) is a compulsive liar and has been this way ever since I can remember. He'll lie about pretty much anything, regardless of whether or not it has a negative impact on other people, and it's gotten to the point where nobody in our family believes a word he says. He's lied about anything ranging from what he's eaten that day, to completely spreading malicious rumors about my family and I.
