Recently, I joined the 67 cult. I have devoted the entire senior year to worshipping the holy god 67 and singing its praises. I believe that with the purification of my god, I can attend any college I want.
The problem is these unenlightened peasants called AOs may still believe in their pagan nonsense gods. How do I enlighten them with the truth and guarantee my acceptance?

hi! im a senior applying to schools rn.
shes SO last minute, but my college counselor just told me literally today she thinks id be a really strong candidate for ed to upenn. but im so worried about affordability! she said its possible to opt out if u cant afford it, but i wanted to see if anyone here was like truly sure about that lol.
im genuinely not opposed to eding, id love to attend. but finances are the only thing thats stopping me from eding. does anyone have a friend or experience with an ed somewhere they reversed due to financial circumstances? should i reach out to admissions ab this? its all so last minute tho??
lol help!

Literally everyone I know is submitting apps by Nov 1 (early application) and I am doing regular for all my schools. The more people talk about it the more I get worried that my chances will be lower and im making the wrong decision. Is anyone else doing all regular? Im kinda scared now since i dont know anyone who is doing regular this year.

I swear 90% of the questions here are just people trying to cope. No a 1550 SAT isnāt going to magically make up for your 3.2 GPA. So many people come here knowing they have glaring weaknesses in their applications, yet still seek external validation just to feel better about their chances. Deep down they already know the answer to their questions. They just want someone to tell them otherwise.

I'm fried.
I genuinely don't think I'm a horrible applicant (avg tbh in terms of extracurriculars), but I think that I genuinely sold on my supplementals. Like they feel so generic :( I like my personal statement though
Alright bro it's like $500 down the drain :( I hope you guys locked in tho

So Iām applying uchicago ED1.
I recently moved, and my new hs is so much bigger and in a diff state. In my old school, there were sub 300 kids and I donāt think anyone was applying to uchi. Here Iāve heard of at least 2 other people applying ED.
My stats are so mid that I genuinely feel like itās a waste of time, but bc of the uchicago promise I canāt help but apply. I mean, Iād qualify for free tuition 100%. I just feel so hopeless now.
I guess I donāt really mind not going. Itās not really my dream school, but, idk. I feel like my grades have been pretty good but they grade stuff did here so my gpa has taken a slight dip too.
Iām also not even submitting my 30 ACT.
ugh I just wanna get rejected already and get this over with

Vanderbilt Universityās motto, Crescere aude, is Latin for ādare to grow.ā In your response, reflect on how one or more aspects of your identity, culture, or background has played a role in your personal growth, and how it will contribute to our campus community as you dare to grow at Vanderbilt.
When we talk about growth, I grow. I grow many ways. I grow big. I grow strong. I grow hair. I grow teeth. I grow nails. But most importantly, I grow as a person.
My last name is Abandando. I think. I have not yet mastered its spelling, despite being legally obligated to know it. Nevertheless, it has defined my growth from a little closeted boy into the full-sprawned Colombian I am today. Somewhere along the way, I developed two passions: pasta and Colombian food whose names I cannot remember. I consider this a uniquely interdisciplinary identity.
At Vanderbilt, I intend to continue growing. Academically, I hope to grow my knowledge. Socially, I hope to grow my friendships. Physically, I hope to grow taller, although my doctor has expressed doubts. Spiritually, I hope to grow closer to my heritage, perhaps by learning to spell Cipriani without consulting my birth certificate.
Most importantly, I will contribute to Vanderbilt's campus community by baking Colombian dishes for my residence hall. I have not yet learned how to bake these dishes, nor can I reliably identify them, but I believe in daring to grow. If all else fails, I will make pasta. It is technically Italian, which is close enough to Colombian if you believe in the power of cultural exchange.
Ultimately, Crescere aude means daring to grow. And grow I shall. In knowledge. In character. In hair. And, hopefully, in the number of people willing to eat my cooking.

Bold=main concerns
Please leave comments I would like to hear your guys opinions
I genuinely love Santa Clara University. The campus is beautiful, from the perfectly green lawns to the Spanish Mission-style architecture. I love how everything comes together and how open and welcoming the campus feels. From what Iāve seen and heard, the students are also really friendly, outgoing, and welcoming. It seems like a close community. Of course, youāre still going to run into those rich kids from Palo Alto who think theyāre better than everyone else, but every college has people like that.
Location:
I also love the location. SCU is right in the heart of Silicon Valley, which is an advantage, especially for me who is interested in business/entrepreneurship. There are so many opportunities for internships, networking, and making connections. I feel like itās the kind of place where, youāre willing to put yourself out there, you can really take advantage of your surroundings and create opportunities for yourself.
Cons:
The biggest downside is definitely the cost. Tuition is already ridiculously expensive, and on top of that, living in Santa Clara isnāt cheap either, which isnāt exactly surprising sense of its location.
One of my buddies is paying around $2,000 a month in rent, and his roommate is paying another $2,000 sharing a room, along with six other guys living in the same house. They are right across from campus. Thatās honestly insane.
On top of that, youāre paying around $80Kā$95K a year for a university that doesnāt necessarily have the same national name recognition as other top California schools or business schools across the country. Donāt get me wrong, Santa Clara is a great school, especially in Silicon Valley, but I feel like its reputation doesnāt carry as much weight once you step outside that area. Itās hard to justify spending that much money when there are other universities with stronger national recognition at a lower cost**.**
I also feel like, depending on your career path, where you go to graduate school can ultimately matter more than where you earned your undergraduate degree, especially when it comes to how employers view your education and qualifications.

I have zero savings for kidās college. I am spending $40K per year for kidās private school and have been doing so for 14 years (started at $28K and went slowly up to $40K). If I had invested that money and took a nominal 6% growth in the market, I would be sitting on $800K. But no, we chose to send kid to one of the best private schools in the city, with a great value system and high quality teachers.
The wife and I both earn. Both had to pay off student loans. We have only increased our income to sustainable levels in the last 3-4 years. Until then, I was paying for private high school via either withdrawal from 401K or by taking private loans. I am debt free now though.
Now, with the kid in junior year of high school, I am looking at top colleges. All of them cost $100K per year (tuition, books, accomodation, fee, etc) and based on our AGI taxes, we donāt qualify for any need-based aid. And the top colleges offer zero scholarships unless you are an athlete.
Iām willing to pay my share. But I canāt help but feeling really really screwed for doing the right thing. And immensely regret not putting aside a college fund, exclusively. I took way too much for granted and itās too late to change that now. Guilty as charged. But I am curious about what resources other parents used to find funds for college. I want to do the right thing even if it means taking a reasonable loan to fund her education. I do not want her carrying any debt coming out of college.
Or am I basically screwed in terms of affording a top college for my kid? Wife is unable to sleep. This realization has really hurt our value as human beings and I am doing my best to keep it together and still do the right thing.
Maybe this is just a vent. Thanks for reading thus far.

when colleges w/ test optional policies say they do holistic review of their applications, ik a lot of ppl say it's not really that "holistic" b/c they judge harsher on other aspects of your application--how true is this?
what can make up for going test optional? like would a lot of good AP exam scores make up for it? how much can going test optional hurt you? Is submitting a score a little lower than the median strongly unrecommended?
i'm less of referring to ivy leagues/top 20s but smaller, less known LACs or colleges w/ lower acceptance rates in general

i need genuinely good schools that ARENT ivies that give solid merit. i dont qualify for need based aid so basically every prestigious school is out of the question, but my dad isnt willing to pay full price either. my dream has always been yale's cogsci program but im slowly coming to the realization that we won't be able to afford it, so i might not even bother applying.
anyone in the same situation have any advice?? ššš
edit: i live in ny for those wondering.. im not tryna go to a suny

yeah the title sounds real elite I know, my dream school was middlebury as they have a great program for the major I want to do, and I'd expected I would qualify for their free tuition program but i found out they require a report from BOTH parents
my parents are separated and my mom is poor and won't be able to afford middlebury, and my dad is unemployed and isn't very present in my life but has enough money sitting in the bank allegedly that disqualifies me from the free tuition program. (he refuses to tell anyone how much he has or what he's going to contribute for college) I know you can fill out a form arguing for one parent to not be considered in the form but it's tricky because he's just present enough that we can't argue for taking him out of consideration
I don't want to be paying 90,000+ dollars in tuition but I've worked so hard all my academic career to get into a prestigious school (straight a student, bunch of aps, extracurriculars etc.) and it's been HARD, just for the realization to set in that i cant even afford any of them.
āāand I don't qualify for fafsa either because the income threshold is much lower, I live in a high income area despite my family being on the poorer side so to be making what fafsa requires would mean we'd literally be homeless
I don't know, I know I shouldn't just be looking at acceptance rates but I'm stuck with this mindset that if I go to a "less prestigious" school that its basically a failure (+I have pressure from other people in my life to go to an elite school)
and what if I go to an affordable school just for the money but regret it for the rest of my life? but on the other hand I don't want to be saddled with debt
I guess this is just a rant and I probably come off as snobby, but it's so frustrating to me that just because I'm not extremely poor that I can't get any financial aid, even middle class families can hardly afford these elite colleges I imagine. ā

I got into my state school. If I stay at home, the cost is around $5,000 per year, which I have a few scholarships for, so I can pay that. My parents donāt have any money for college, thereās not really anything we can spend on college, and I donāt think I should take out loans.
The only thing is I feel a lot of expectations from other people because Iām valedictorian, have a 4.0 GPA, good extracurriculars, etc. However, I really doubt Iāll be able to get into a top-20 schoolāmaybe a top-30ābut I donāt think I can afford that. So, most likely, Iām going to my state school. I donāt feel upset about it at all, but everyone knows me as this smart kid thatās supposed to go to an Ivy like the other valedictorians, and I feel like Iām disappointing people. How can I stop thinking about that because I really do like my state school.

I thought the CSS profile was the same as FAFSA so I put in all my colleges and submitted it early. Then, I was told that colleges want the CSS profile submitted only after I actually submit my admissions application there. (I also wasted a bunch of money which stings a lot)
What does it actually mean for me to send it all in early? How much does this actually affect anything?
I'm not sure if it said somewhere on the CSS application not to put colleges until after actually applying to them. I was a bit misled by the fact that selecting colleges is one of the first few sections on the CSS profile.

So I just hit submit on all of my EAs and many of my RDs but now that it's out of my hands I thought I'd feel relieved. Nope. I wake up at least once a night due to a dream of getting rejected or the wrong SAT being inputted to the college (my 1460 from sophomore year rather than my 1570 from this october) or some similar snafu happening which resulted in me getting rejected.
A recurring one I've been having is meeting the admissions rep that rejected me and them telling me that either 1. they prioritized a legacy student or 2. I made an extremely obvious typo in one of my essays which made it illegible and they thought I was an idiot.
How tf are yall dealing with this?

Every time I look for reviews of majors Iām interested in such as biomedical science, biomedical engineering, biotechnology, etc., itās always the same thing : unemployed, unhappy people saying that choosing these majors was the biggest mistake of their lives.
Then you have people who have never studied finance or computer science telling you to go into those fields because theyāre supposedly the only ones hiring in 2026. But when you check the subreddits for those majors the CS guys tell you that a CS degree is the new high school diploma
while the finance guys say their field is going to be fully replaced by AI soon (which I honestly believe).
So wtf am I supposed to study?
Yes, I have interests I want to pursue but at the same time, I donāt want to spend years studying something that wonāt even allow me to make a living.

Hey guys!
I'm applying SCEA to Princeton (bc I have nothing to lose and basically a guaranteed spot at my country's top uni, I'm only applying to Ivies and T20s) and I just got back my gpa and class ranking. 8.6/10 and 58/428. am i cooked? my school is known for having grade deflation, but even with that my gpa dropped 0.2 from what i was expecting. I've also heard most unis have specialized AOs for certain regions, which are familiar with the schooling system. for example, in my country, we have to handle applying for unis in the US (for those who want to do so) while studying for everyday tests (in my school, that's the norm) and for the university entrance exams at the end of high school (which are known world-wide to be really difficult to pass).
all of this to ask: do the school profile and your education system really matter to AOs? do they consider that i was only able to take 4 ap exams and one sat?
thanks so much in advance for anyone who helps!
