Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Tourism Travelling to Dallas

Hello everyone,

My mate & I (M30/M31 Australian) are travelling to Dallas at the end of November, I am hoping some of you legends would be able to tell me about good places to see? We have varying interest but the common theme is BBQ’s and Firearms (legal & range), definitely not limited to those two things.

I could google, but it’s giving me touristy stuff which I am, but whether it’s worth the time or not I am unsure.

TLDR; good quality spots around Dallas.

Thank you all.

Tourism Englishman visiting Dallas for first time.

Hello, I have a friend who's terminally ill and is coming to Dallas to watch the Cowboys as part of his bucket list. I'm coming early Nov 13 and staying at the Fairmont downtown. With some time to kill before others arrive the next day, I was thinking maybe burger and brews or a nice martini and a steak. Any walkable recs near the hotel? Many thanks in advance.

KID STUFFS! Does anyone know if there's any trick or treating events for teenagers around here?

I know, sounds like a stupid question. But I'm 16 and haven't been able to enjoy any holidays because of class work. Now, my schedule is freed up because it's the end of the trimester and it's right in time for Halloween. However, I know a lot of places don't like teenagers showing up, does anyone know some teen friendly (also preferably accessible, I'm on a knee scooter and crutches combination) communities? Sorry if this seems a little stupid, I just really wanna enjoy Halloween without getting the whole "oh you're too old" spiel 100 times over

Food & Drink New Mexican food in DFW?

Hey guys, New Mexican transplant here! I’m looking for any New Mexican eateries in the DFW area; I’m talking green chile (Anaheim chile) based; chile rellenos, enchiladas, all the good stuff. Emphasis on NEW Mexican rather than traditional Mexican food.

Bonus points if it’s close to Denton!

Pets/Animals Vet Recommendations for Reactive French Bulldog

I am needing a vet ASAP for my French bulldog as he is due for shots and an annual checkup.

Plot twist: he is extremely dog reactive, and does NOT like the vet. We also need to get his nails clipped, and will certainly need someone who is a saint.

TIA

Shopping & Services Looking for Contractors - highly reputable, reasonably priced, high quality, clean, and excellent communication

I'm looking for help finding highly reputable, reasonably priced, high quality contractors. Many that I have interviewed are far too expensive for us or inexperienced. If you know of contractors with their own crews, have excellent reviews online, competitively reasonably priced, clean, and efficient who would like to work on adding to and remodeling a 1950s . Please provide details here along with images of their work and online reviews supporting a positive experience. Thanks

Best place to go for musical artists?

I’ve been writing music for 1.5 years, mostly electronic work, I’m at a point where I really want a community. Support artists, ask questions, get feedback on my work.
It’s purely passion projects, not looking to make money on my music.

Any workshops or places here in Dallas that fit this bill? I have hardly any gear, but one day I’d love to play live.

Shopping & Services Christkindl Market in Arlington worth it? (coming from Austin)

Hiya!

Is it worth driving out for the market? We are probably headed to canton for trade days the first weekend of December and were wondering if making a day of the Christkindl Market would be worth it.

Thanks!

Shopping & Services Apple store in Dallas

For anyone who has bought a launch-phase iPhone at Galleria Dallas, what was your actual experience like with the lines and stock availability? I am planning to buy an 18 Pro Max and want to know if it is better to buy directly from the Apple Store or go through a T-Mobile store, or if the buying process and inventory levels are essentially the same either way. What are the pros and cons you have found between going carrier vs. Apple Store in Dallas?

Tourism Ideas for 20 people in D-FW?

I’m hosting my extended family for Thanksgiving and looking for activities and restaurants for Friday and Saturday. We’ve done the Stockyards and Grapevine Christmas — looking for activities that will be good for a group of 20 ranging in ages from 10 to 65. Also any restaurants that are good for larger groups! Thank you!

KID STUFFS! First time in Dallas for the marathon, with two little kids. What should we do?

Hi everyone! My family and I are visiting Dallas for the first time for marathon weekend, and I'll be running the full. We'll be staying downtown and have Friday and Saturday free to explore.

We have a couple of kids under 5, so I'm looking for kid-friendly must-see spots and things to do that fit into two days.

We'd also love restaurant recommendations, big or small. We especially love hidden gems, small local spots, and food trucks.

Thanks so much for any tips!

Hello!

I’m looking for a jeweler in DFW to help make a custom wedding band. We bought our engagement rings from Diamonds Direct and haven’t had a great experience so we are looking for somewhere else. We’re located in The Colony but fine with driving for good service and price!

Nightlife & Entertainment Halloween night - Cedar Springs or Deep Ellum?

I'm going to be in town on Oct 31, Halloween night. Which area would you recommend for Halloween festivities? Are the lines really bad?

We're looking for costumes, dancing, fun crowds, a little Halloween chaos, and ideally a few places within walking distance. I'm considering Cedar Springs (especially Station 4) versus Deep Ellum, but we're also looking at parties at Virgin Hotels, W Dallas, and The Village.

My biggest concern is just spending half the night standing in lines.

Relocating & housing Apartments for rent

I am moving to DFW soon, and I am looking for a 2bedroom apt around Arlington, DFW, Euless, Bedford since my workplace is on Trinity BLVD and I prefer to live close by to avoid long drives.
I prefer to have a yard if possible, but it is not a hard requirement.
Do you have any recommendations of affordable (under 2k) apartments?
