💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information disability hearing coming up, kind words plz

• Upvotes

disability hearing is up in about 37 hours. I'm a late diagnosed audhder with borderline and ptsd traits.

ive been working on what I want to say if given the chance to speak freely and I'll keep working on it till the night before but no matter that right now. anxious that I don't know ahead of time what is usually asked in these hearings. main thing is I'm anxious for the hearing, or rather its decision. as late diagnosed with a lifetime of being accused of all my dysfunction and it being put on me as a moral deficit, I have imposter syndrome big time. I'm worried that the hearing will be more of the same. that they won't be able to empathise with me, that they will see me as a not deserving of support, as a spoiled brat or lowlife or whatever else equivelant. the idea seems preposterous since I have gone through the proper channels and my difficulties, most of them, have been documented and presented for the tribunals examination but still.

im terrified of the idea they class me as someone who isn't deserving of monetary assistance, or deserving of very low monetary assistance because other than me really needing an income, in my mind that would be another way of invalidating. invalidating all I've gone through, my disability, all the confusion, hurt and self blame and hate.

any encouraging word is welcome, any relevant experience is welcome. me super duper anxious yay

🎨 art / creativity Did you do any art activities that helped you in your burnout recovery?

A few years ago, I suffered from a severe burnout (which lasted 2 years) that resulted in a 6-figure loss and consequently, I had to let go of my 9-year old business, a decision that felt like letting go of my own child.

Art found me during that dark time and gave me strength to pick up the broken pieces.

Recently, I caught myself at an early stage of burnout, but I was able to prevent it from relapsing and then heal myself quickly using art-therapy exercises, daily mindfulness practices and a journaling method that helped reduce the urge of constantly doing and achieving (I come from a migrant lineage).

That gave me an inspiration to start a project of creating therapeutic art workshops that incorporate mindful practices like breathwork, meditation and journaling for women.

By supporting the women’s well-being, I feel I would simultaneously help them protect their income, jobs or businesses.

So I’d love to hear about your burnout recovery experience with art or other special interests.

I’m 40F and based in Berlin, Germany. Thank you so much!

📝 diagnosis / therapy / healthcare SPD and not autism

Soooo I guess I'm not autistic. I was told I have sensory processing disorder, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and adhd. (Also OCD and cyclothmia)

It kind of looked like she explained away all my sensory issues with SPD and then explained away all my social issues with social anxiety. It's funny because she wrote out that I had a lot of stereotyped autistic behaviors as a kid, I guess they were just explained with SPD. But, I'll believe her and go on anxiety meds and then go from there. It's not like I'm begging to be autistic, I was just really super convinced so if I was really wrong... a bit embarrassing 😭

I think I'm going to need to accept that symptoms are just symptoms regardless of the label. It's a bit hard to do because of all the societal weight given to these diagnosis, but I'm probably hurting myself in the long run.

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information What's your social script for conveying excitement?

• Upvotes

To preface, I am not diagnosed so I wont claim anything. I have just poached social strategies from you guys before and found that ushually advice from y'all works for me.

Anyways, one quirk I've had since forever is that I have a hard time conveying excitement. Hanging out with friends? "No no I'm having a great time" in the flattest monotone ever. Receiving a gift? "Oh wow yayy".

I try to be upfront with people about this weird habit, but quite frankly I'd also lose my mind if I were on the receiving end. I can try to ham it up, but if I'm low energy it feels ingenuine. So do any of you have some kinda of formula that works to ernestly show excitedness more outwardly?

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information Does a diagnosis matter?

This is my first time posting to Reddit. Deep breath. I will try to keep this succinct.

I’m 47F, diagnosed ADHD+Anxiety at 40 (former GCT kid, stereotypical overachiever who flew under the radar relying on masking and coping mechanisms until perimenopause). I have a history of childhood abuse (physical, psychological, emotional, with narcissistic mother and likely undiagnosed neurodivergent father) and intergenerational trauma. I’ve suspected for some time that my father and I (and one of my ADHD daughters) are undiagnosed autistic. That said, I’ve also questioned whether some or all of my issues are actually chronic PTSD. I’ve done therapy in and off to address my issues (usually I hyper analyze myself objectively and seem to understand academically what the issue is and how to address it, but application is really hard for me so i don’t know how successful I’ve really been at “fixing” any of my underlying issues through therapy).

So, does it matter? If I’m ADHD or AuDHD or I have chronic PTSD - the impact seems to be the same, so does a diagnosis matter? I’m stuck on this, like I need to justify the diagnosis before I obtain it. Does that even make sense?

💊 medication / drugs / supplements ADHD Medication transformative but causing GI problems

I want to make a Reddit post to ask for help:
Looking for advice about medication - I have adhd, depression and anxiety and possible ocd. I am 32 and have been struggling a lot since my mid 20’s, right now I’m in a bit of a crisis.

2.5 years ago I was diagnosed with adhd and put on Ritalin. It is a transformative drug for me - i have the capacity to use my brain for problem solving, I can tolerate stress and anxiety and other people, I can create goals and stick to routines. I can run further and lift heavier at the gym. I can be there for my wife and dogs.

But unfortunately it has been giving me problems with my stomach. All stimulants seem to do the same thing: I have tried caffeine, nicotine, modafinil, Ritalin and Vyvanse. I recently even tried Wellbutrin (an SSRI) and that gave me the exact same problem. I am diagnosed with IBS so I assumed it was aggravating and flaring this but when I type my symptoms into AI it thinks that I may have Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: not strong control over bladder and bowel, urinating/ poo frequently, pain in lower abdomen and sides of abdomen, dull ache in tailbone and down legs, when medication wears off lower abdomen pain turns to dead/ numb feeling.

I am not sure what to do as without medication I am so dysfunctional and depressed, it sounds extreme but since I stopped taking the medication a month ago I feel like I’m existing and I don’t enjoy anything. I stopped taking them as I started worrying that I was doing long term damage as I have been taking them for 2 years, I only take 5mg per day.

I am not sure what to do about the medication: whether to give up on it or for try to look for the cause (like pelvic floor dysfunction) and pray there is another medication like a muscle relaxant that can lessen the symptoms. There are a few other stimulant alternatives I haven’t tried, but given that 5 stimulants I have tried I think this might be pointless. I don’t understand why Wellbutrin hurts my stomach as I am currently on Sertraline and this doesn’t affect it.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

💬 general discussion Positive Stories and venting

I'd love to hear your positive stories specifically for late diagnosed people 🩷

I'm also going to vent a bit about my experience, feel free to read or not. It just helps getting it all out.

Some background, I'm 31(F) and received my ADHD diagnosis a year ago, and my autism diagnosis a couple months ago.

And now after a year of being on another waiting list I've finally received an appointment to discuss ADHD medication.

Over the last couple of years I have just felt life getting harder and harder and this has been exasperated over the last 6 months. I know it may be regression/coming to terms with my diagnosis' (neither of which were a surprise) and I have started therapy specifically for help with Audhd.

I'm constantly exhausted/physically ill too and work full time in a school because I cannot afford to reduce my hours.

I'm at a point where I'm feeling pretty hopeless. Then we have the state of the world to contend with too which is just dire at the moment.

I went through my childhood and teenage years being a "high flyer" and doing all the things, meeting all the people, going out a lot etc. And I definitely feel like those years have caught up to me and smacked my right across the face where now all I can do is go to work and that's it. I also had some tests and went to a chronic fatigue clinic at the end of last year, but they did not diagnose me as I was waiting for my autism diagnosis and they suggested it may be burn out.. but surely if you're burnt out long enough it ends up being chronic fatigue anyway. I don't know.

I also live in a one bed flat with my partner. And have felt very claustrophobic recently and am hyper aware of the need for more space and more space for me to have some time on my own. However, this just is not possible as we live in London and cannot afford anything bigger.

When I'm anxious about something I also spiral and see an issue in every little thing in my life and stress about each part of it not being "right". I'm hoping ADHD meds will help with the noise in my brain but who knows.

All this to say, I need something to look forward to and would love to hear some positive stories from people that have found ways of coping in this forever overstimulating world.

TIA 🩷🩷

💊 medication / drugs / supplements Has Anyone Combined Clomipramine with ADHD Medication? How Was Your Experience?

• Upvotes

Has anyone here taken clomipramine (Anafranil) alongside ADHD medication, such as Vyvanse, Concerta, or Adderall?

I'm wondering how safe this combination is, particularly regarding potentially dangerous increases in heart rate, blood pressure, heart rhythm abnormalities, or CNS-related side effects, such as agitation, anxiety, or seizures.

If you've tried this combination, what was your experience like? Did you experience any concerning side effects, and how well did the combination work for you?

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information AuDHD Burnout(s) and Late Diagnosis: Body has kept score?

Dear Reddit Folks who are in or have been in Burnout: Did you have acute loss of physical ability during the process? I'm working diligently with my doctors/therapists to try and keep my able-bodied-ness; Blood tests, rest, time off work, catering to my body's energy levels, using "spoons" and energy conservation but, I am struggling. Immensely.

tl:dr

Do the symptoms of Burnout stretch to near-total loss of physical ability that /can/ be recovered with time and pacing, or do I need to learn how to live with chronic pain from now on? I'm trying to find resources to get the care I need.

More info I'm willing to share:

I am slowly but surely loosing my ability to walk, stand, do chores, basically exist in my own home or outside it, now that I've unmasked and accepted my Neurodivergence. On bad days, I need a cane to walk, and on worse days I'm "too sick to play video games" laying in bed resting most of the day. The recovery from running errands can take days before my pain is somewhat manageable, and I've pretty much given up on going out for socials without plenty of prep and the expectation that I will crash for days after.

This isn't the first time I've had a total health crisis; There have been two (or three) prior "crashouts" that have taken a toll and cost me my mental health and physical health that I have pushed through and "recovered". I've been trying to treat my mental illness(s) for nearly 20 years, and only recently have been given diagnosis of AuDHD.

I'm starting to wonder if this isn't solely Autistic Burnout, and I have unfortunately FAFO'd with my body's limits.

See TLDR above. I am happy to report I am in the best mental state I have been in my life! I would love to get back on ADHD meds, because they really did make a difference, and I had a fantastic couple of months! But in that time, I miiiiiight have forced my executives to function well beyond their means, and now the board room is on fire?

For reference, I've worked non-stop in corporate office jobs for 10 years, have a BFA (and held down job), worked full-time fresh out HS and have a long history of getting very, very sick. USA.

Help. LOL

Edit: Thank you so much for the comments below!!!! I'm going to try and respond as much as I can, but I'm hoarding each reply for later reference! :] I wish us ALL the best in recovery/management and these are the sorts of conversations that really do help me feel "seen" without feeling too immature, or "attention seeking". I guess when you're delirious with pain, you do kinda want to seek out attention and help. That's wild. LMAO

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information How do people with AuDHD do anything?

Not having a routine stresses me, but having one also stresses me. There are a couple of things I would really like to do, but I just can't get myself to do them.

For example, going to the gym is, genuinely, the only thing I enjoy, but it is just so stressful to even think about, and I can't get a home gym.

Others, like drawing, are different in the sense that it is the thought of doing them that causes stress, whilst with gym, it is going outside.

One other thing is that I just can't get myself to think of anything other than gym, lol, and anime. I set up alarms for other activities, but I don't even realise when I disable the alarm, and they only come to mind when I don't have time to do them.

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information Is this social experience common in adhd ?

So basically all my life since childhood there is something about me the eventually repels people away. This my typical experience with friendships:

\- finally meet someone we really click they’re probably semi autistic like me
\- we have great chats, there is a euphoric phase we go out, have fun, talk about everything similar and do lots of activities
\- hmmm I sense suddenly something changed, they are less responsive to texts, oh no did I do something wrong, nah they must be busy
\- We meet up few more times, I am as excited but I don’t feel the same energy anymore from the other person
\- person starts speaking about some new friend or someone they met recently, uh oh
\- texts are one way, I have to initiate conversations on WhatsApp and text
\- one more outing but person seems very different and not as engaged anymore
\- yep my gut feeling was right in the first place, now they ghost me on WhatsApp
\- I spend weeks and months dissecting every conversation what did I say something wrong or do something wrong. Or did they find someone more fun, damn I really suck what is wrong with me

Sigh every single time, especially happened most recently again I knew it was too good to be true, found this lady we both have kids we got well really well and our kids too and now yep she ghosted me. I a male and the same happens with friendships either male or female doesn’t matter it’s the same outcome.

I went to therapy many times and worked on self improvement like listening skills and so on but nothing changes.

Is this common experience with adhd people, are we doomed to such relationships? Thanks

😤 rant / vent - advice allowed I'm worried I'm only going to be able to enjoy things through the dopamine I get from novelty

I got my diagnosis recently and with that, I've been doing a lot of introspection on how it's affected my life and my enjoyment of things.

I feel like I can only really like stuff when it's new to me. I get a lot of enjoyment out of it initially but I end up losing my liking towards it the more I commit to it. Games, music, food, relationships, sex... I have to keep rotating through things, finding the next thing to like because the old thing may still be something I love but I don't get enjoyment from it anymore so my brain just rejects it.

There's only so many of these things to go around and as I rotate through them, I check them off one by one as things I can't enjoy anymore. With a lot of stuff I can come back to it a while later and like it again but it's never the same and it's usually for never more than a couple weeks to a couple months at a time.

I wish I could stick to a game long enough to actually get really good at it. I wish I could stick to similar safe foods I know I can eat so I don't have to keep looking for new options and throwing out the old ones. I wish I could still get a good kick out of songs I've always loved without having to not hear it for half a year or more. I haven't had much of a love life since leaving highschool but now I'm worried it's going to affect that too. I started identifying as poly in adulthood because I found out I can love more than one person at a time but a part of me is worried I may just be an asshole and I'm just going to hurt people (this hasn't been a problem yet but I'm scared I'm going to dip out of relationships because I'll get bored of them quickly when I do get into one).

I think my biggest fear is that now I'm getting ready to finally start creating content for YouTube and whatnot after wanting to do it since I was a kid and that it's going to go horribly wrong because of this. Like I want a long-term hobby and maybe even a career out of it but I'm worried I'll get bored of all the games before I finish playing through them (happens frequently) or I'll just get bored of it all together and this thing I've been building towards for so long will just collapse.

Now mind you, none of this may come to happen, these are just my fears and maybe I'm overthinking it (I do tend to do that). I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how did you end up managing it?

Tldr; I'm paranoid my inability to enjoy things outside of novelty will impact my life in a lot of major ways and I'm wondering how others have dealt with this issue.

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information How to deal with a breakup with AuDHD

Genuinely how do you deal with a breakup from a long term relationship as a neurodivergent person with trauma history?

I got broken up with from an almost 2 year relationship. I was completely blindsided. The worst part is he’s sent both me and my family mixed signals on whether he sees us getting back in the future or that he’s completely moved on.

I can barely work and think about it almost 24/7. I sob and sob. It’ll get easier maybe one day and then I’m back to square one. Not only did I lose my comfort person, someone I thought I would get married to, but I’ve had to deal with this significant amount of change (hello, not good with change).

The worst part is sitting in this uncertainty, and especially being neurodivergent, it’s hard not to be in control or know the outcome. All the advice I’ve gotten is to move on and if he comes back he does, but it’s so hard to do that with who I am. I don’t feel like therapy has been helping and I’ve had my own battle with finding a therapist to help with the AuDHD part of me.

I guess I’m asking if anyone has any advice and has gone through this and how they got through it. I just want to feel joy again, and my emotions are so strong and big. Everyone around me obviously has their advice to give, but no one understands that going through something like this is is a lot different for someone like me.

😤 rant / vent - advice allowed outdated, antiquated and kinda sexist work routines

TL;DR: people at work expect me to listen to all THEIR conversations all the time so that i dont miss information.

i started a new job this year and i am in a team with people who are double my age who have been working together for the past 30 years. i am SO exhausted by their routines and expecting me to do exactly as they do. we usually sit in a small office together and it is really draining for me.

today i decided to sit elsewhere in the office and they were making stupid jokes about what would possibly the reason for me sitting elsewhere blaming each other jokingly. i calmly explained myself that i can better concentrate when sitting alone but apparently that we all sit together is some kind of unwritten rule????

i talked to the only other woman in the team later that day and she was like "the men cant be bothered to gather important information for everyone and share them. so i think you should think about sitting somewhere else- listening to them talk to each other is the only way to get all the information. I've been doing it for 20 years that way. They wont change anymore."

EXCUSE ME?? i certaintly wont drain my energy by listening 24/7 to some men talking in case there MIGHT BE some important information because THEY cant be bothered to use official communication canals????????????? i told her that i wont do that and that i expect to get all the information i need for my work when needed and it is not my job to thirst for information that way. i am done adapting to old men in my life.

i am done adapting to this team but it is so HARD for me to do my own thing because all those stupid jokes and 30 year old rules and ancient work ethic. doing the smallest thing different than they are is followed by a stupid joke or i feel like it is simply "forbidden" or i am breaking some unspoken rules

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information How do you learn to build a schedule and stick with it?

I'm trying to make a routine for my hobbies. I have a few. I'm working on autism/face blindness software for ar glasses. I have an mvp for the meta display, though its limited by its hardware and for the Snap SPECS. I'm currently working on computer vision software that analyzes the nights sky and folds back the travel of things in the vacuum in space. It's really fun. Very pretty to watch it light up. I also paint portraits of famous and other people who's work and/or work ethic I enjoy. I've painted for private collectors, celebrities, and royalty.

The trouble I'm having is that I can't get a routine down. I need to be able to work on all three and have energy to clean my house and maybe even get out of the house a couple days a week so I'm not alone so much. I was supposed to get coaching when I was twenty but couldn't afford it to learn to be more self sufficient, so I'm missing some basics.

I'm a level 2 autist and have 98% severity primarily inattentive adhd-1.

I don't work, due to being on ssdi for my muscular dystrophy and schizoaffective disorder, so I have nothing but time for these.

But like, how do you work on one thing, then swap it out and get a little bit done each day. Energy is a premium I have to manage very carefully, as even walking a few blocks leaves me bed ridden for hours. I can type or I can paint for a long period of time, but I want to get more things done while I still have the remaining use of my hands.

Do you have any advice or publicly available like--routines or plans or whatever they're called? I don't know what to look up online to find my own resources.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this.

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information AuDHD and difficulty organising my thoughts while speaking

I have AuDHD, and I struggle to organise my thoughts while speaking. It's not about socialising or language proficiency. It happens even in my mother tongue.

For example, in an interview, if I have to explain something in three points, I might finish the first point and start the second. But then I start wondering whether I explained the first point correctly, so I go back to rephrase it perfectly, even though I've already completed it. This interrupts my flow, and I struggle to continue in the right order.

Even when I want to narrate an incident that happened in my life, I can't explain it in a proper sequence. I get confused about what happened first, what happened next, and what details to explain. My narration becomes jumbled, and I struggle to convey the incident clearly, even though I know what happened.

It's frustrating because I know what I want to communicate, but I can't organise and express it in the right order.

Does anyone with AuDHD experience this?

💁‍♀️ seeking advice / support / information Coming to terms with AuDHD

I suppose this is more of a general airing of my feelings than a post, but I’m curious if others relate to my experience and can provide advice/guidance.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child (~8yo) and was blissfully unaware of any atypical variances in my behavior until recently (~30yo). In adolescence I was in sports and kept a close knit circle but had difficulty engaging with new people unless they carried the conversation.

Following a recent bout of significant depression during Covid, I find myself more attuned to my social deficiencies. In particular how I tend to make others feel awkward and ask too many probing questions. I am still generally liked among my extracurricular activities, but I do feel as though others sense and treat me differently. I tend to get lumped in with others who I would identify as being on the spectrum. I suppose I just want to feel ‘normal’ as i used to feel before becoming aware of my likely AuDHD and I hate myself for being different.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a way to both successfully come to terms with their AuDHD internally and also modify their behavior to be more normal externally?

💼 education / work How do you guys study effectively?

I'm currently studying for my BBA admission exam for top universities, but the problem is for the past few days I have been having burnouts and most of my exams are at December. My problem is that I learn my study materials very late compared to other people and it really made my academic life difficult since highschool.

💼 education / work Lack of education about neurodivergence...

I'm just venting here. I work in healthcare. Last week I started a new job, so I had to go through all the computer trainings and e-learning modules that go along with most jobs, plus all the job was specfiic ones. Its mostly the same but they are always adding more. I noted that there was a module about interacting with patients who have obesity. Basically wanting everyone to be aware and not make people feel judged when they are seeking healthcare. I agree and I have no issue with that. Healthcare professionals should be sensitive to all kinds of people. However, this is the first time I've seen ever seen that particular subject addressed directly. But this is not about obesity, it could have been any topic.

I realized that I immediately felt a little some type of way in the back of my mind, because I feel like everyone else has a module except us. There is never any information or education about neurodivergence. There's a lot of misinformation and terrible "opinions" out there, especially among health care professionals. Unfortunately even in mental health, providers frequently have no idea and go off of information from 30 years ago. They are supposed to be heallping but are actually very damaging to ND people.

I never once in my education was taught really anything about ASD ( If I had I probably would have been diagnosed AuDHD much sooner).

Actually, my experience in college with an LD/ ADHD was terrible. The only professor that didn't make me feel totally judged was my psychology professor. Like shouldn't healthcare professionals and higher education be required to have education about neurodivergence??? The fact that they don't is probably why so many people think its not a real thing. It really kind of upset me and I was thinking about making an anonymous suggestion about it....

Thoughts?

😤 rant / vent - advice allowed Had a bad day at work. Scared I’ll be fired, feel like crying, just need to get thoughts and emotions out.

NOTE: I briefly discuss medications in this post.
I was diagnosed with autism early this year, ADHD last month, as a 26 year old. Always struggled with keeping focus, actually getting things done and I suppose my throughout at work has generally been below average as a result. I’ve had some performance scares in the past but none as frightening as this one. I’m a software developer and was assigned a fix to investigate with the assumption I’d eventually fix it. It’s a complicated one and I’ve historically known it’s hard to focus for that kind of thing. Like I sit down and try to research and my mind just goes too many places. Sometimes I sit staring with the knowledge I just won’t be able to get anything done for a while. The same happened here. And so I sent the results of my investigation out to stakeholders. And I had a meeting with my boss today where he flat out told me the level of detail I went into was unacceptable given the amount of time I spent on it. And that if something like this happened again I’d be put on a performance improvement plan. At my company that almost always means you will soon be fired.

And so here I am. This is my first job and I am a software developer so I’m scared that if I lose my job, I won’t be able to find a new one given the bad job market. And I’m scared that even if I find another job, I will still not be able to fundamentally acquire the motivation necessary to exist in a modern workplace. I can’t help but shake the feeling that I’m just lazy. I suppose laziness is subjective; is someone with no motivation lazy? Or can someone be not lazy without motivation, are the two concepts not the same? I don’t know. But when everything I do makes me feel more and more like I’m not made to exist in this world it’s hard not to feel bad about myself, even if I’m trying to avoid judgement calls. I am one of the most privileged people in the world, as an upper middle class American, and yet I still feel like the entire world is out to get me. I’m afraid I’m just weak.

I was on 20mg of vyvanse for just a few weeks and while it felt like I was on the right track, it made the chest pain I constantly experience worse and my Apple Watch was saying crazy things about my heart. So not only can ADHD meds not help me now, if something is wrong with my heart, they may never be able to help me. Plus those same symptoms greatly exacerbate my focus issues—I lose focus and vision and have weird seizure like episodes every day where my brain resets and I completely forget what I’m doing. Plus I have stomach issues so I’m constantly in at least a little bit of pain with that plus the chest pain. Trying to get this all diagnosed but it’s taking time and I don’t know what I’ll do about all of it if I lose my job, and with it my health insurance. I guess I should look into accommodations for this stuff, but accommodation can’t lower the amount of throughput required of me I don’t think. I gotta think if anything else is realistic and helpful. I should also start applying for other jobs.

Trying to intellectually figure out what this situation means for me, I think it is indeterminate whether I’m screwed in the long term, but there’s a very real possibility I’m screwed when it comes to this job, and I may just have to accept that path, wherever it may lead. There will be more scrutiny on me now regardless, and I fear this is just the first instant of my manager happening to notice I’m slower than average, and he’ll see it everywhere now that he’s looking. Plus my work anxiety is worse now and that makes it yet harder to focus. I’m scared of what my parents will think if I get fired. I’m scared of moving back in with them. I’m frustrated that things are such that I’m forced to WANT to work, incentivized by threat of starvation to feel so awful about something but have to keep banging my head against the wall because if I don’t it may get even worse. It’s not that I feel something is fundamentally, metaphysically wrong with me because I have autism and ADHD, it’s just for all intents and purposes something might as well be wrong with me if I struggle to engage with the world around me so much. And I know there are people out there with autism and ADHD that have jobs and have it figured out. I want to be one of them. I think I HAVE to be one of them, in some capacity. I remember being scared I wouldn’t make it to even the tenure I’ve made it to. I remember crying alone in my apartment because I was so scared I just couldn’t do what was required. I’m sick of living a life of fear and depression. I want to do so many things right now. I want to tell my manager to fire me. I want to drink excessively. I want to yell until I can’t anymore. I want to hug my cat and cry. Part of me hopes something is seriously wrong with my heart so that Im forced out of employment, at least for a time, before it comes down to whether I can hack it or not. I feel very alone and I dont know who to talk to about it; my neurotypical friends never seem to understand when I try to explain how I struggle.

For my mental and physical health issues, I am seeing professionals and will evaluate next steps with them, again maybe seeking accommodations. Maybe I need to take some FMLA and try to get my shit together but I don’t have a massive amount of savings, and I’m worried about spending money in FMLA that could be spent getting me through unemployment later. if anyone has had similar experiences and would care to give thoughts or advice, I would very much appreciate it.

This is probably my autistic trait that bothers others the most.
I think far ahead in the futute and have a very detailed lay of the land.
Say I am in a legal process and I have their behaviour pinned down, look there is this actiom and there is this, which is the same as he did here, seee - thats a pattern and because of that isn't it likely that x occured and y will occur in the future?

Seriously, why do neurotypical not get that?
