একটা জিনিস চিন্তা করে দেখলাম, হুজুররা আসলে সবকিছুই সাপোর্ট করে, শুধু একটা জিনিস বাদে। সেটা হলো কনসেন্ট বা সম্মতি।

একটা ছেলে মেয়ে সম্মতির মাধ্যমে একে অন্যকে চুমু খেলে হুজুরদের জ্বলে। তারজন্য তারা মৃত্যুদন্ডও জায়েজ মনে করে। অথচ কনসেন্ট ছাড়া চুমুতে তাদের সমস্যা নাই। এটাকে তারা আনন্দের সাথেই নেয় এবং অপরাধ মনে করেনা।

সমকামিতা হুজুররা ঘৃণা করে কারণ এতে কনসেন্ট থাকে। দুইজন ব্যক্তি সম্মতির সাথে এই কাজ করতে পারবে না। অথচ সম্মতি ছাড়া ঠিক একই কাজ অর্থাৎ বলাৎকার হুজুররা প্রতিনিয়ত করছে। তখন তাদের প্রবলেম নাই।

দেখবেন কোনো প্রাপ্তবয়ষ্ক বা অপ্রাপ্তবয়স্ক মেয়ে যখন প্রেম করে তখন হুজুররা খুব ক্ষেপে যায়। কারণ এতে কনসেন্ট থাকে। অথচ সেই মেয়েকেই জোর করে বিয়ে দিলে হুজুররা খুশি হয়। কারণ এখানে কনসেন্ট থাকে না।

একইভাবে দেখবেন দুইজন নারী পুরুষ কনসেন্ট সহকারে সেক্স করলে হুজুররা খুবই মাইন্ড করে, শরীয়া আইনে শাস্তি চায়, অথচ কোনো মেয়ে রে*প হলে হুজুররা পোষাকের দোহাই দিয়ে, রাতে একা বের হওয়ার কথা বলে, কিংবা মেয়ের ছেলেবন্ধু থাকে কেন, চরিত্রে সমস্যা, এরকম নানাবিধ যুক্তি দিয়ে ব্যাপারটাকে জাস্টিফাই করার ট্রাই করে।

অর্থাৎ সমস্যা চুমু, সেক্স, প্রেম, কিংবা গে'তে না। সমস্যা শুধুমাত্র কনসেন্টে!

অতীতের ভূত এফএম (Bhoot FM) কিংবা বর্তমানের ভূত ডট কম (bhoot.com), কাহিনীর প্যাটার্ন কিন্তু মোটামুটি একই থাকে। ভিলেন অশরীরী বা জ্বীন এর হাত থেকে বাঁচাতে হিরো হুজুর এর আবির্ভাব ঘটে, এবং শেষমেশ Hujur Saves the day। মাদ্রাসার ধর্মব্যবসায়ী হুজুরদের অতিরিক্ত মাথায় তুলে রাখতে পুরো একটা প্রজন্মকে কনভিন্স করতে এই ভূত এফএম এর বিশাল অবদান ছিলো, যেটা এখনো ভূত ডট কম এ চলমান। আর ধর্মান্ধ উন্মাদ হুজুরদের অতি আস্ফালন তো এখন দেখতেই পারছেন। মাদ্রাসা নিয়ে বহু ভৌতিক কাহিনী ওই প্রোগ্রামে শুনেছি, কিন্তু মাদ্রাসার বড় হুজুর বাচ্চাদের সাথে কি করে সেইসব নিয়ে সে তো কোনোদিন একটা কথাও বলে নাই, উল্টো সেইসব বড় হুজুরদের হিরো হিসেবে দেখানো হয়েছে সবসময়।

ছোটবেলায় যখন নেশার মতো এই ভূত এফএম শুনতাম তখন হুজুরদের আমি মোটামুটি দেবতুল্য পর্যায়ে বসিয়েছিলাম।

আমার মতে এই প্রোগ্রাম এবং এই টাইপের যত ভৌতিক প্রোগ্রাম আছে সব আইন করে বন্ধ করে দেওয়া উচিত এবং এদেরকে ধরে জেলে ঢোকানো উচিত। আপনাদের মতামত কি?

It feels like my parents, the initial spark they may have had for each other when they settled into an arranged marriage is not only long gone, it feels like it wasn't there since I was born. Just these two people, existing like roommates completely indifferent to each other. Maybe some kind of a bond through dependence but nothing close to what one would define as love. Two powerful slogans hold deep significance for Bangladesh and its people: “Joy Bangla” and “Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar.” Sadly, dirty partisan politics has increasingly attached political identities to both, overshadowing their deeper historical and religious significance.

1. Joy Bangla — A Symbol of Liberation and Patriotism 🇧🇩

“Joy Bangla” is deeply rooted in the history of Bangladesh’s Liberation War of 1971. It was a powerful slogan of freedom, courage, national identity, and the struggle for independence. However, its close association with the Awami League has led many people to perceive it as merely a party slogan.

Today, someone saying “Joy Bangla” may be labelled an Awami League supporter, even if they simply wish to express their love for Bangladesh and respect for its liberation history.

But Bangladesh’s independence does not belong to any single political party, and neither should its history be confined to one.

1. Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar: A Declaration of Faith ☝️

“Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar” carries profound religious significance for Muslims. “Allahu Akbar” means “Allah is the Greatest.” It expresses our faith, our recognition of Allah’s supreme greatness, and our devotion to Him.

Yet, partisan politics has increasingly associated this religious expression with Jamaat-e-Islami. As a result, someone proclaiming “Allahu Akbar” may be immediately labelled a Jamaat supporter, even when they are simply expressing their Islamic faith.

But “Allahu Akbar” is not the exclusive slogan of any political party. It is a fundamental expression of faith for Muslims around the world.

So, where is the problem?

The problem lies not in these slogans, but in the politics that attempts to claim ownership of them.

A Bangladeshi Muslim can love their country, honour the sacrifices of the Liberation War, and remain devoted to Islam. Patriotism and faith are not mutually exclusive.

Political parties will rise and fall, but Bangladesh’s history will remain, and faith cannot be confined to party politics.

Let “Joy Bangla” represent our history of liberation and patriotism, and let “Nara-e-Takbir — Allahu Akbar” remain an expression of our faith—not political labels used to divide us.

I feel completely broke, hopeless, and worthless. I have never had a good relationship with my family, and whenever I go home, I feel neglected and abandoned. We barely talk, I usually just sleep and return to my university hall.

I am curious as to what people in Bangladesh think of him today, especially since the Awami League lost power in the summer of 2024. I remember hearing about him being very revered in the country, but that was back in 2018. From what I understand he was very important for the independence of Bangladesh, but also did not run a successful government and was ultimately assassinated, and just the general situation revolving around the Awami League in the 2020s. I will also mention what I know him for most is his speech on the 7th of March, which I understand to be very important in Bangladesh, and even though I don’t speak Bengali, I do feel the emotion in the words of it. I will also note I am American, if that explains anything with spelling or about possible misunderstandings around what has happened in Bangladesh.

Has anyone (or someone close to you) gone abroad for labor through the official government routes? What was your experience and how much did it cost?

I'd also love to know how long the process took and which country you went to.

Background:

I'll turn 18 in July next year. I come from a village and wen I do turn the age I want to go abroad for work through the government route. My uncle, who lives with us is also planning to go abroad but he's going through a dalal and the price is extremely high.

My parents want me to go with him but I refused because I want to become independent of my family.

When I said government routes are much cheaper, even if they're harder to get into, my uncle argued against it.

He says everyone around us goes through dalals, that you can't go abroad without paying a huge sum and that even government routes cost a lot.

I think he's pushing this because he wants to go fast, to a high end European country, and he's dead set on it.

My parents and my nani don't know much about the process and just see everyone around them using dalals, so they believe him. My parents are hesitant about the cost but he's always the first to argue against me.

So I want to hear from people with real experience. Is the government route actually cheaper? Is it worth it?
