GENERAL Do not outright ask "What was on your exam". Do not outright say "My exam had ____". This includes topics etc.

Hello Candidates!

Updating the stickied post about sub rules as there have been a few rascals griping about “not seeing a rule saying xyz” even though they received a ban for it. If the rule you broke was relating to exam disclosure - thats not even a sub rule. Thats a rule you agreed to when you sat for the exam. Do not solicit or provide exam content.

First – I want to point out we do have an Automod in place that removes anything from accounts < 5 days old or with < 5 combined karma. We do get some spam posted here and this automod helps quite a bit. If you are on a new account and start posting here, add a comment with a u/galbert123 mention and ill approve it asap

Put at least a little effort into your posts, especially titles Yes this is me on a power trip. I hate clickbait. If your question fits into a post title, ask the question! Dont post "I have a question..." "Should I get my cpa if..."

No Clickbait Post Titles

Be ethical – Do not post, offer to share, buy, sell or ask for copywritten study material – This is an immediate ban

No Promotional Accounts - This is not a place to advertise products. There are some clear xyz product Ambassador accounts that ONLY comment about what study material they use. I’m removing that stuff. If you throw it in every once and a while fine, but some account I see are literally just ads for the study material. Organic conversation about the study material you use is great. Here are reddit guidelines on self promotion.

But what about those ads/promotions I see for xyz product

That company pays for those through the proper reddit channels.

This is NOT a study material marketplace Do not make posts trying to sell your old material, your post removed, maybe a ban if it looks overly sketchy

Use tact and be generally kind to each other – The downvotes usually speak for themselves on this. When I start to see one user getting a bunch of reports and it looks like an obvious troll, I’ll probably ban. This is a judgement call.

Shit posts are great. Posting bullshit is not. Posts like “Score Release moved to after thanksgiving - wouldn’t be surprised from NASBA” is not a shit post or a joke post. It needlessly stressed a bunch of people out

This is a bunch of bullshit censorship.

I guess that's one way to look at it. I dont know where the compulsion to be a jerk fits into the overall betterment of the sub. We are generally all fighting the same fight here.

Asking for or providing exam content is not allowed. This includes "What topics were heavily tested"

Asking what should I study is ok. Asking "Those who recently took AUD, what should I study" leans toward not ok because of the implication. People here are generally good people. Exclude any references to your exam or recent exam takers etc. They'll tell you what to study.

"What sim topics did you see (on your exam)?" No.

What sim topics should I study? - good

"Just got out of AUD, I saw sims on X Y and Z (on my exam)" - No.

"Study this because I saw it on my exam". No good. Just say "it would be wise study this". Get it? If you are talking about your exam, or asking other candidates about their exam, don't.

If you get banned for this, its usually just to get your attention that what you posted broke the rule. Send me a message and ill undo it, just keep your posts compliant with AICPA disclosure policy. I dont want to ban anyone ever.

Please see this post for some examples.

21 day edit: Interesting how two of the people who chimed in saying how stupid this is rarely if ever contributed to the sub otherwise prior to this post and now have deleted their account completely.

Mod Note Reminder - This is not a buying/selling/sharing sub. Asking for or offering access or login credentials to study resources is an immediate ban.

Note on the title - When I say this is not a sharing sub, I am referring to sharing of paid access to study resources. Sharing your own home made study guides is fine - though I highly recommend making your own handwritten study/review notes.

There has been a huge influx of beggars lately. If I click into your account and all I generally see is you asking for study notes or study material access, you're going to get banned.

Also, please flair up! It honestly does help weed out some of these accounts with flair. Try to flair up if you know you are going to be around and want to participate.

This sub is good because of back and forth engagement. Try to give at least as much as you take. If you post a question, try to respond to comments. Nothing worse than a question then OP just ghosts the thread.

Finished my simulated exams and got a 55, 67, and a 70. Felt very confident on the last one especially. Almost 90 hours on Becker.

My exam is on Saturday October 31st. I was wondering if there was anything I should do before taking my final CPA exam (hoping to be the last).

Any topics I should review before going in??? Not just “haha basis” like actually what specific basis items.

Heard also inherited Retirement is huge too. Lmk if that’s true.

EA vs CPA? Trying to decide on my masters

• Upvotes

I have been planning on my CPA for the past year, and am about to enroll in my masters for it (they provide free study materials as part of the program🎉).

My current company will pay for all of my EA requirements (not all CPA since my masters falls under that umbrella).

Can I hear your perspective over one vs the other? I feel like I am not fully understanding what an EA is as they were trying to tell me it was a CPA with less steps???

Any ISCers Out There? How we feeling?

Who else has ISC this week? How were your SE scores, how are you feeling about it?

I see a lot of TCP posting but not much ISC.

I’m taking ISC this afternoon. Man, do I much prefer a morning test, and it’s a 45 minute drive away, but this was all that was available.

Had pretty strong SE scores (Gleim) but seems like the MCQ and TBS are easy whereas people reporting the actual exam is not so much.

Let’s ace ISC!

Need advice after the first exam

• Upvotes

I took my exam this morning and realized after that I won’t get my score until November 24th. That being said, since I have almost a month until I find out if I passed or failed, should I continue studying Audit or move on? I walked out feeling like I failed.

Regardless, I’m taking a break until Monday. And I’ll definitely check for the cutoff dates when scheduling my next exam.

Just walked out of TCP… honestly don’t know how to feel

I just took my TCP exam today, and honestly, I’m feeling really confused right now.

The MCQs were a mixed bag. Some were pretty manageable, but I’d say around 25–40% felt like complete guesses. For the rest, I could reason through the questions, although I’m not sure how many I actually got right.

The TBSs were also mixed. Some felt good, while others were really confusing. I managed to attempt most of the requirements and finished the exam with some time left to review.

I’ve also worked through the Miles TBSs, but I’m worried that the actual exam was different from what I practised.

I’m trying not to overthink it, but I really don’t want to fail this section. I keep replaying the questions in my head and wondering whether I did enough.

For those who have taken TCP recently:

* Did you also leave the exam feeling confused or uncertain?
* If you had a mix of manageable MCQs and difficult TBSs, how did your result turn out?
* How predictive did you find your mock scores of your actual exam performance?

I’m not looking for anyone to guarantee that I’ll pass. I just want to hear about other people’s experiences because the uncertainty after the exam is killing me right now.

QUESTION How’d you see it through and stay motivated/consistent?

• Upvotes

I’ve been out of college for 5 years and CPA eligible the entire time, as I switched majors a few times. I have the Becker package unlimited but I’m going to lose access in a year if I don’t prove I’m testing so I need to “lock in” this time.

Getting my CPA, genuinely will mean a lot to me as I feel I’m going to let myself down if I don’t follow through. The issue is, I have a really good job, and salary, and my CPA isn’t required for what I do. I don’t have working Tax or Audit(except when my clients request audits and need help) experience outside of internships I did in college, so even if I got my CPA, I am just not sure it would actually provide use?

Essentially, I’m just at a cross roads. I know I need it to feel like I didn’t half ass my career and take the easy route, but it’s also hard to justify and rationalize in the moment when I don’t need it and it’ll take a year of dedication and “locking in”

I guess I’m just looking for words of encouragement and reasons to do the damn thing and see it through. Embarking on my study plan for FAR starting today and just want to hear what others have to say or how they dealt with this conundrum in their own heads.

Scored 56 on FAR. Retaking in 2 weeks with conflicting mock scores — need honest advice

• Upvotes

Need some advice, so quick recap i already gave my FAR and scored 56 on last attempt i am using miles education as my primary provider i scored PE 1 - 53
PE 2 - 40 before my first attempt. Just for instance i started with absolutely 0 accounting knowledge and started from scratch and studied for 9 months straight 5-7 hrs each day consistently excluding sundays to just REACH 55

Ive been studying since April 1 after my score release and i got a job too so ive been studying 2-3 hrs perday focusing on weak topics going thru them throught maintaining a error book for constant wrong topics, areas and concepts and i am scoring 65-80 in mixed set of mcqs and i took four mini mock past month and scored 67-80 targetted my all weak areas and was pretty confident untill i asked one of my frnd for becker and took SE 1- 47 SE2- 65 SE1 retake - 45. I just gave my both Miles PE again and got PE 1- 65 PE2(today)- 53 . l also had ninja for a month and had trending score of 67

The thing is i am and international student and it costs me 900+ USD so if i fumbled this one attempt also i am wont be allowed to contuing pursing CPA.

What should i do? I was thinking of giving exam in two weeks ie 7th Nov

FAR FAR - IMPORTANT INFO FLASHCARDS?

• Upvotes

Hi! Does anyone have a quizlet (or something like that) with the MUST know quick info from FAR?

I find flashcards help me more than anything in final review but I want to see if anyone has a flashcard set I could see to make sure I have the important info I need. Beckers flashcard sets have far too much information.

Any help is appreciated!! Thank you.

AUD Memorising Audit textbook chapter structure needed ?

• Upvotes

Hello,

I’m preparing for audit and one question for people who attempted audit exam is whether we need to memorise textbook thoroughly to consider it as proper study. Hammering MCQ and learning from error logs sure helps but I see people saying that they have cleared the exam even without reading text and I honestly wonder how that process work.

Please help me out with the study structure and also about TBS.
Thanks.

New York CPA Exam Educational Requirements

Anyone else in NY who didn’t major in accounting going crazy at the fact that New York keeps changing the requirements to sit for the exam? I have been taking courses at a CC to meet eligibility but next year in August there will be yet another change which will require me to retake tax at a 4 year college among with information systems. And not just that but I would now have to take a Data Analytics course.

I know eligibility is viewed on a case-by-case basis, but does anyone know if the tax and information systems class I took would count? I took them before the new requirements were implemented.

responsible for SPV tax filings when a fund administrator is used

• Upvotes

Several clients invest through SPVs and the responsibility question keeps surfacing and the responsibility question keeps surfacing. The SPV has its own EIN, its own books, needs its own partnership return. But the fund administrator maintains the books and the GP assumes the admin files the return. Then it turns out nobody engaged a preparer and the extension deadline is a week away.

There is a gap in the middle where SPV tax filing ownership is not clearly assigned. The admin says "the books are maintained on our end." The GP says "taxes were supposed to be handled." The CPA says "nobody sent the trial balance." Three parties and no clear owner for the most important annual deliverable.

For tax pros who work with fund structures, how is SPV tax filing typically handled? Who should own it? Is there a model that avoids the "everyone thought someone else was doing it" problem?

How long to receive the license in RI?

My CPA license application went before the board in Rhode Island last Tuesday, Oct 20th. The RI board vets the application before it's presented to the board too. In other words, the board won't even look at your application unless you've passed the exams and met all the education and work verification requirements (I have 6 years experience vouched by a CPA). Anyone have an idea how long it typically takes in RI before it's approved?

AUD Any review advice when studying for AUD?

Hi everyone, I take AUD on 11/9. I’ve looked at all the material, does anyone have review tips?

And when reviewing (this is mostly just the business cycles that I’m asking about in my next question) would you recommend when doing mcqs I make practice tests that has all the cycles in it? Or should I focus on MCQs for rev cycle until I’m super comfortable and then do the expenditure cycle and so on?

I would love to know what people did during their reviews that helped them pass

TCP Got out of TCP…………..

Just got out of TCP. The exam was pretty good. Felt dicey on 7-8 MCQs and the TBS were pretty straightforward. One should focus on basis, contributions, difference between non-liquidating and liquidating distributions for all the entities and how it impacts the basis.

TCP TCP Tomorrow - Opinion from ppl who have taken it this month

Hi everyone, I was wondering what people's thoughts on TCP are from this month. I take it tomorrow and these were my sim exam scores:

SE 1 - 79%

SE 2 - 86%

SE FR - 95%

I am feeling good and have been scoring in the 90s on every mc practice test I have taken in the past week, but am worried about the TBS. Any advice from recent test takers?

FAR Help with FAR Chapter 1

Is FAR chapter 1 just especially brutal? Or it is cause I haven't seen financial accounting in 8-ish years?

Just need to vent/maybe some advice if it all comes together at the end. Cause I'm semi-freaking out.

TCP TCP takers on 10/28?

What do we think?

I didn’t think the first testlet was too bad. Second testlet had a few more I guessed on. Those TBSs were just kind of weird I think. I felt better about testlets 4 and 5 but don’t feel good about 3.

My SEs were 64, 63, and 76 on Becker.

I’m not 100% sure if I passed or not. I’ll take a 75. I walked out of REG last month for sure feeling like I passed and I got a 91, so this is a new feeling for me.

Any questions from those who haven’t taken it yet? For those that have passed, do you think I’m going to pass?

I am nervous for REG😵‍💫

• Upvotes

For context this is my last exam. I have been scoring 70-80 in my MCQs and got a a 73 on my first SE exam. I’m still so nervous maybe because it’s my last exam, but I’m just really hoping the material from Becker translates well to the actual exam. My exam is in less than 2 weeks but man the nerves are more than usual!! Does anyone have any tips they can share or even let me know the Becker material is sufficient? I’m so over this I just wanna get it over with!!

People who have used UWorld?

Hi -

I am using UWorld for FAR and I am almost through the content but just wanted to see if there is anyone else using it now or have recently rather than Becker?

And if people have tips for how to use the mini assessments, smart path, boot camps, and other things for benchmarks. I have a tracker of questions missed that I will go back and use soon but wanted to see if anyone recently used UWorld for FAR and had anything to share

STUDY MATERIAL Made a free Dungeons & Dragons-inspired CPA exam study game - roast it or tell me what you think

Disclosure: I’m Bryan Kesler, and I run Kesler CPA Review. I built this, and it lives on our website. You can try it, free, as a guest without an account. Yes, I hope you like it enough to check out Kesler, but I want to be upfront about that.

Some of you might remember the DOOM-style CPA exam game I posted here last year.

Obviously, turning a CPA exam test bank into a shooter wasn’t enough.

I’ve now added Dungeons & Debits to my CPA exam arcade, a 3D CPA exam dungeon crawler game for when you get burned out hammering MCQs the boring way.

I failed the CPA exam several times. At no point did I think the solution was “give deferred taxes a health bar,” but here we are.

The idea is pretty simple: your MCQ/flashcard answers drive the battle.

Instead of clicking through a test bank and watching a accuracy percentage slowly change, you:

  • Answer CPA exam MCQs/flashcards to attack accounting-themed monsters.
  • Pick your confidence level before submitting.
  • Build toward stronger attacks with correct answers.
  • Collect gear and work through dungeon encounters and bosses.
  • Review explanations between attacks so you understand what you missed.

STUDY PLAY PREVIEW:
Discover lots of creative ways to crush CPA exam themed monsters turn by turn just like a proper dungeon crawler game!

The more monsters you kill the more rewards you earn and the higher you can upgrade your gear.

HOW IT WORKS:

Customize your journey by CPA section - NOTE - you don't need to make an account to play. Pick 'guest' to test it out for free.
Customize the type of studying you want to do. The game uses Kesler CPA Review's smart quiz builder that identifies your weakest topics in real time.
There's even whiteboard explainer videos (Learn N GO) for each MCQ inside the dungeons for when you get stuck.
And of course earn your place on the global leaderboard and become an instant legend!

I’m not claiming this replaces your study plan or that fighting a Deferred Tax Hydra will magically get you a 75...

BUT I wanted to make another way to get practice reps in when you cannot stand looking at another ordinary MCQ screen.

Especially now that Becker closed down Accounting for Empires...

---

If you'd like to give it a try, shoot me a comment below and I'll get you the link if that's okay with the mods.

I’d love some honest feedback:

Does the battle make you want to answer another question, or does it get in the way?

Would you use this for a short study session?

And if something feels slow, confusing, or broken, tell me what device you’re playing on. I’m actively working on it.

Roast the game.

Good luck to everyone studying this week.

Edit: Lots of interest. Give it a try here: cpaexamarcade.com
