Just walked out of TCP… honestly don’t know how to feel

I just took my TCP exam today, and honestly, I’m feeling really confused right now.

The MCQs were a mixed bag. Some were pretty manageable, but I’d say around 25–40% felt like complete guesses. For the rest, I could reason through the questions, although I’m not sure how many I actually got right.

The TBSs were also mixed. Some felt good, while others were really confusing. I managed to attempt most of the requirements and finished the exam with some time left to review.

I’ve also worked through the Miles TBSs, but I’m worried that the actual exam was different from what I practised.

I’m trying not to overthink it, but I really don’t want to fail this section. I keep replaying the questions in my head and wondering whether I did enough.

For those who have taken TCP recently:

* Did you also leave the exam feeling confused or uncertain?
* If you had a mix of manageable MCQs and difficult TBSs, how did your result turn out?
* How predictive did you find your mock scores of your actual exam performance?

I’m not looking for anyone to guarantee that I’ll pass. I just want to hear about other people’s experiences because the uncertainty after the exam is killing me right now.

TCP - Ummm... Holy Shit

Just walked out of TCP. Holy shit. That was sooo much harder than FAR or AUD. How are the pass rates so high????? Also, that exam was nothing like the Becker prep. Jeezus. Praying hard for a pass come December 15. 🙏 🙏 🙏

TCP TCP final stretch, am I ready?

Finished my simulated exams and got a 55, 67, and a 70. Felt very confident on the last one especially. Almost 90 hours on Becker.

My exam is on Saturday October 31st. I was wondering if there was anything I should do before taking my final CPA exam (hoping to be the last).

Any topics I should review before going in??? Not just “haha basis” like actually what specific basis items.

Heard also inherited Retirement is huge too. Lmk if that’s true.

Any ISCers Out There? How we feeling?

Who else has ISC this week? How were your SE scores, how are you feeling about it?

I see a lot of TCP posting but not much ISC.

I’m taking ISC this afternoon. Man, do I much prefer a morning test, and it’s a 45 minute drive away, but this was all that was available.

Had pretty strong SE scores (Gleim) but seems like the MCQ and TBS are easy whereas people reporting the actual exam is not so much.

Let’s ace ISC!

Need advice after the first exam

I took my exam this morning and realized after that I won’t get my score until November 24th. That being said, since I have almost a month until I find out if I passed or failed, should I continue studying Audit or move on? I walked out feeling like I failed.

Regardless, I’m taking a break until Monday. And I’ll definitely check for the cutoff dates when scheduling my next exam.

EA vs CPA? Trying to decide on my masters

I have been planning on my CPA for the past year, and am about to enroll in my masters for it (they provide free study materials as part of the program🎉).

My current company will pay for all of my EA requirements (not all CPA since my masters falls under that umbrella).

Can I hear your perspective over one vs the other? I feel like I am not fully understanding what an EA is as they were trying to tell me it was a CPA with less steps???

TCP Got out of TCP…………..

Just got out of TCP. The exam was pretty good. Felt dicey on 7-8 MCQs and the TBS were pretty straightforward. One should focus on basis, contributions, difference between non-liquidating and liquidating distributions for all the entities and how it impacts the basis.

FAR Took FAR today-nervous about my sims score

I studied 150hrs on Becker, and I feel like I have a good grasp on the context. The mcq’s I thought were much easier on the real exam so I was confident, but I swear at least 1/2 of the sims were nothing like Becker. I don’t think I’m going to pass. :(

Has anyone felt this way and still passed??

Also not needing to memorize the ratios was a lie, definitely know them lol

Scored 56 on FAR. Retaking in 2 weeks with conflicting mock scores — need honest advice

Need some advice, so quick recap i already gave my FAR and scored 56 on last attempt i am using miles education as my primary provider i scored PE 1 - 53
PE 2 - 40 before my first attempt. Just for instance i started with absolutely 0 accounting knowledge and started from scratch and studied for 9 months straight 5-7 hrs each day consistently excluding sundays to just REACH 55

Ive been studying since April 1 after my score release and i got a job too so ive been studying 2-3 hrs perday focusing on weak topics going thru them throught maintaining a error book for constant wrong topics, areas and concepts and i am scoring 65-80 in mixed set of mcqs and i took four mini mock past month and scored 67-80 targetted my all weak areas and was pretty confident untill i asked one of my frnd for becker and took SE 1- 47 SE2- 65 SE1 retake - 45. I just gave my both Miles PE again and got PE 1- 65 PE2(today)- 53 . l also had ninja for a month and had trending score of 67

The thing is i am and international student and it costs me 900+ USD so if i fumbled this one attempt also i am wont be allowed to contuing pursing CPA.

What should i do? I was thinking of giving exam in two weeks ie 7th Nov

36 hours until TCP and I feel like I can't remember ANYTHING as it relates to entity basis and the differences. What do I do to make it click?

Running very, very behind, but cant afford to push my testing window since I have credit expiring. I'm at 102 hours in Becker and just finished the T1-T4 content. Still need to take ME2 and the SE's + the final review. I do well on the MCQ/TBS after the section, but as soon as new info goes in, the old info goes out.

I did very well on ME1 (81%), but once T4 and T3 hit, everything just became a blur. Once in a while things seem so logical, but the more I went over the more overwhelming it gets, and the more I'm mixing rules up. I almost wish that there was just a chart that compared the different circumstances by entity type, asset type, transfer type, etc. (I've tried using AI but even that just pours out an overwhelming amount of information).

Is entity basis really as overwhelming as it seems or is there a method/logic to the madness? Does anyone have any tips on how to review everything and retain it all?

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Edit: somehow got a 75% on ME2; I feel like it didn't really go into the weeds of basis questions though...

New York CPA Exam Educational Requirements

Anyone else in NY who didn’t major in accounting going crazy at the fact that New York keeps changing the requirements to sit for the exam? I have been taking courses at a CC to meet eligibility but next year in August there will be yet another change which will require me to retake tax at a 4 year college among with information systems. And not just that but I would now have to take a Data Analytics course.

I know eligibility is viewed on a case-by-case basis, but does anyone know if the tax and information systems class I took would count? I took them before the new requirements were implemented.

FAR Simulation Advice

My exam is on 23 days. I will wrap up all the Becker material on Friday. I plan to take SE1 after Halloween, but am really struggling with the SIMs.

I have a gut feeling on SE1 I will get a low score because I will have bombed the SIMS.

Does anyone have any tips to better understanding SIMS? The skill builder videos are helpful, but when it comes time to do it on my own, I fall flat on my face.

I am nervous for REG😵‍💫

For context this is my last exam. I have been scoring 70-80 in my MCQs and got a a 73 on my first SE exam. I’m still so nervous maybe because it’s my last exam, but I’m just really hoping the material from Becker translates well to the actual exam. My exam is in less than 2 weeks but man the nerves are more than usual!! Does anyone have any tips they can share or even let me know the Becker material is sufficient? I’m so over this I just wanna get it over with!!

QUESTION How’d you see it through and stay motivated/consistent?

I’ve been out of college for 5 years and CPA eligible the entire time, as I switched majors a few times. I have the Becker package unlimited but I’m going to lose access in a year if I don’t prove I’m testing so I need to “lock in” this time.

Getting my CPA, genuinely will mean a lot to me as I feel I’m going to let myself down if I don’t follow through. The issue is, I have a really good job, and salary, and my CPA isn’t required for what I do. I don’t have working Tax or Audit(except when my clients request audits and need help) experience outside of internships I did in college, so even if I got my CPA, I am just not sure it would actually provide use?

Essentially, I’m just at a cross roads. I know I need it to feel like I didn’t half ass my career and take the easy route, but it’s also hard to justify and rationalize in the moment when I don’t need it and it’ll take a year of dedication and “locking in”

I guess I’m just looking for words of encouragement and reasons to do the damn thing and see it through. Embarking on my study plan for FAR starting today and just want to hear what others have to say or how they dealt with this conundrum in their own heads.

FAR Help with FAR Chapter 1

Is FAR chapter 1 just especially brutal? Or it is cause I haven't seen financial accounting in 8-ish years?

Just need to vent/maybe some advice if it all comes together at the end. Cause I'm semi-freaking out.

FAR Finally finishes F1, scores 30% on MCQs

Was finally happy that I finished my first module, thought i understood “some” concepts. Decide to do the MCQ to find out i didn’t learn shit in college I guess.

For those who feel like you didn’t much from college and still passed the CPA. How did you improve your retention for FAR topics? I have never used EPS during my 5 years of professional work experience post graduation and now I am learning what happens when we have donated stock being converted to treasury stock like bruv…

FAR Far study plan strategy

Hello
I just started studying for FAR I am using Becker and I am a little lost on how to come up with a study plan. Are we suppose to watch all the videos per unit and then proceed to work on the study questions?

For example, watch all the videos for the F1 modules and then work on the MCQs?

I appreciate any help and advice you provide. Thank you!

Anyone familiar with the University of West Florida (UWF) CPA prep courses?

I've been looking into the University of West Florida's CPA Exam Review program, and I'm curious whether anyone has experience with it or even knows much about the school.

They offer four CPA exam preparation courses for graduate credit, open to both degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students. The courses are online, use Becker, and cost $390 per credit hour. Each course is 1.5 credits, so the tuition is surprisingly reasonable.

I'm particularly interested because I already have Becker, and the idea of getting structured CPA preparation while earning graduate credits is appealing.

What strikes me as odd is that I've never heard much about UWF, despite being from Florida, and I haven't seen much discussion of this program in accounting circles. I've also had difficulty getting anyone at the university to respond to inquiries.

Has anyone attended UWF, taken these courses, or heard anything about the program's quality? I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has used it to prepare for the CPA exams.

Here's the program:

FAR FAR - IMPORTANT INFO FLASHCARDS?

Hi! Does anyone have a quizlet (or something like that) with the MUST know quick info from FAR?

I find flashcards help me more than anything in final review but I want to see if anyone has a flashcard set I could see to make sure I have the important info I need. Beckers flashcard sets have far too much information.

Any help is appreciated!! Thank you.

AUD Memorising Audit textbook chapter structure needed ?

Hello,

I’m preparing for audit and one question for people who attempted audit exam is whether we need to memorise textbook thoroughly to consider it as proper study. Hammering MCQ and learning from error logs sure helps but I see people saying that they have cleared the exam even without reading text and I honestly wonder how that process work.

Please help me out with the study structure and also about TBS.
Thanks.

responsible for SPV tax filings when a fund administrator is used

Several clients invest through SPVs and the responsibility question keeps surfacing and the responsibility question keeps surfacing. The SPV has its own EIN, its own books, needs its own partnership return. But the fund administrator maintains the books and the GP assumes the admin files the return. Then it turns out nobody engaged a preparer and the extension deadline is a week away.

There is a gap in the middle where SPV tax filing ownership is not clearly assigned. The admin says "the books are maintained on our end." The GP says "taxes were supposed to be handled." The CPA says "nobody sent the trial balance." Three parties and no clear owner for the most important annual deliverable.

For tax pros who work with fund structures, how is SPV tax filing typically handled? Who should own it? Is there a model that avoids the "everyone thought someone else was doing it" problem?

How long to receive the license in RI?

My CPA license application went before the board in Rhode Island last Tuesday, Oct 20th. The RI board vets the application before it's presented to the board too. In other words, the board won't even look at your application unless you've passed the exams and met all the education and work verification requirements (I have 6 years experience vouched by a CPA). Anyone have an idea how long it typically takes in RI before it's approved?
