I had my first market this weekend and it was a huge success! I weave baskets and some backpacks and tried out being a vendor for the first time. Overall, I sold 9 baskets – mostly to people I knew, but also to some vendors I admire, and in the last 10 minutes of the event I sold one to a stranger. I’m proud of how I did :)

I’d love any feedback on what I could improve next time. I’d love to make it more obvious that people can try on the backpacks (lots of people didn’t realize I had backpacks), and ways to show how strong/sturdy they are. Any input welcome. Thanks!

They are not in line with the theme, no one goes to a craft fair hoping for a deal on window installation. The poor employees that have to man the booth reek of misery at being there and most people make a point of walking around them, and even the neighboring booths unfortunately.

I get why the organizer let's them in. Its money in their pocket and probably at a higher rate than everyone else. But why do the companies keep showing up? Simple answer is it must be effective or they would quit wasting their money. But who is making it worth their money and why?

Has anyone done canton trade days recently? What's it like? I'm considering getting a booth this weekend, but I'm scared I won't make any money and I'll waste my time. It's about an hour and a half drive for me.
