DISCUSSION How close does a stop loss actually fill on a thin EVM pool?

• Upvotes

Say a small coin dumps 20% in one candle and blows straight past your stop

With Pump fun adding TP/SL for EVM positions now, im curious how people handle that. are you getting filled anywhere near your trigger or just wherever the liquidity is when it hits?

DISCUSSION Fed decides Wednesday and Bitcoin is sitting right on $80K. Holding or selling before the announcement?

Bitcoin slipped under $80K on Saturday (low around $79.2K) and has been hovering around that line since.

What's weighing on it:

- Iran tensions pushing oil up, which feeds inflation fears

- Leveraged long positions getting liquidated on the way down

- About $773M pulled from Bitcoin ETFs over Thursday and Friday

- Everyone de-risking before the Fed

The Fed announces its rate decision Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET. Markets mostly expect a hold, but the Fed already hiked in September and a December hike is widely expected. A surprise hike Wednesday would probably hit crypto hard.

Levels people are watching: around $79K support, $78K below that, and $82K to look healthy again.

Not financial advice. What are you doing before Wednesday? Holding, selling, or waiting to buy the dip?

FUNDAMENTALS Honest question about crypto?

Why did you invest in crypto? Obviously many people make investments because of the perceived returns. But I would like to know the motivation. Is it the belief of what crypto will do and therefore, your hope that at a time in future, the project will gain value and change the world or was it honestly due to speculation? What is your current feeling about crypto?

Discussion Any zero-fee platforms that allow crypto shorting?

I shorted ETH with $100 at 20x leverage on Kraken and paid:

$16 opening fee
$16 closing fee
$5 margin fee

Made $7 gross but lost $30 after fees. A $1482 price drop breaks even but that doesn't even happen in a year...

Ideally, I want to short BTC from $80,144 to $79,673 (red to blue line in screenshot) using $100 at 20x leverage. That’s $11.76 gross profit, but Kraken’s fees wipe it out.

Any platforms that allow shorting with zero or very low fees so I can keep most of the profit?

DISCUSSION The $10 Insult: Why Congress’s De Minimis Tax Exemption Betrays Everyday Earners—and Locks Bitcoin in a Golden Cage.

Thumbnail
inbitcoinwetrust.substack.com
7 Upvotes

Why does the United States Congress treat foreign central bank currencies 20x better than Bitcoin?

Under Section 988(e) of the Internal Revenue Code, an American citizen can spend $1,500 worth of Euros or Swiss Francs, realize up to $200 in exchange-rate profit per transaction, and owe $0 in taxes with zero IRS paperwork.

Meanwhile, under the flagship crypto tax bills moving through Congress right now (H.R. 10357 and the ADAPT Act), if a working-class American spends $14.50 over the Lightning Network to buy lunch, it triggers a taxable barter disposition on IRS Form 8949.

Even worse: the much-hyped "$10 de minimis exemption" inside H.R. 10357 only exempts the network transaction fee—not the purchase itself. Congress exempted the postage stamp and kept the letter inside fully taxable.

Why? Follow the incentives:

  1. Wall Street got everything it asked for: Institutional lending safe harbors, mark-to-market accounting, and ETF trust protections.
  2. Dollar stablecoins got a monopoly: Zero capital gains on spending and immunity from wash-sale rules—because stablecoins force everyday spenders to hold T-bill-backed dollars that silently pay the annual inflation tax.
  3. Everyday Bitcoiners got handcuffs: A 30-day wash-sale ban, constructive-sale rules, and permanent taxation of miners on unsold block rewards.

Inside "The $10 Insult"—and why the state is terrified of letting Bitcoin circulate as everyday money 👇

NEWS Arthur Hayes just sold his entire trading book, about $22M in ETH, ENA and UNI. Bitcoin is below its 50-day average for the first time in 66 days

Full breakdown with a chart of what he sold: https://holywizy.com/blog/arthur-hayes-sells-22-million-crypto-bitcoin-below-81k/

Quick summary: Hayes says Maelstrom closed all directional positions. Lookonchain estimates about $22.3M sold, with ETH by far the biggest chunk. He says macro and geopolitics look "a bit dicey", that the market may need to go down to go up, and that he'll sit on the sidelines for now.

Only nine days ago he said he was long BTC and ETH.

At the same time, BTC is hovering around $81K, and Bitcoin ETFs saw about $635M of outflows on Oct 22 alone.

Do you think he's right this time, or is this a classic Hayes flip before a bounce?

DISCUSSION The Quantum Clock Just Jumped Forward: Why Bitcoin’s Math Is Shrinking Faster Than Anyone Expected (And Why Hardware Is Still Holding the Line).

The Quantum Clock Just Jumped Forward—And Nobody’s Talking About It. 🚨💻

While the public debate over quantum computing "FUD" went to sleep, the mathematics of attacking Bitcoin’s cryptography did something unexpected:

It didn’t just creep forward. It sprinted. 🏃‍♂️💨

Over the course of 2026, a quiet convergence of frontier cryptography and autonomous AI coding agents has completely slashed the mathematical requirements for breaking secp256k1 (Bitcoin’s elliptic curve).

Here’s the wild reality of the Quantum vs. Bitcoin race:

1️⃣ The Algorithmic Crash: Modern estimates used to state that breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography would take ~2,300 logical (error-corrected) qubits. Google optimized that to 1,175. In the latest ECDSA(.)fail study by Jieyi Long, AI agents helped push that requirement below 900 logical qubits. 📉

2️⃣ The Hardware Promise: IonQ’s recent full-stack analysis estimated that breaking a Bitcoin private key would take roughly 20,000 physical qubits. Yet, IonQ’s official roadmap targets 20,000 physical qubits and 1,600 logical qubits by 2028. 🗓️ Yes, just two years away.

Is this the end of Bitcoin? No.

A corporate roadmap is not an active cryptanalytic weapon, and continuous 26-day fault-tolerant runs across 20,000 fragile qubits remain a massive engineering challenge that traditional titans like IBM and Google estimate will take until 2033+.

BUT, we can no longer ignore the speed of the math.

Because upgrading a decentralized, multi-trillion-dollar protocol without causing panic takes 5 to 7 years, the clock is ticking for Bitcoiners to begin preparing.

I just broke down:

👉 Why AI and open-source research slashed the math in months.

👉 The "Physical vs. Logical" qubit gap & the real danger of IonQ’s 2028 timeline.

👉 Why modern hashed addresses (bc1q) are safe—but 6.9 MILLION BTC are sitting in an exposed bullseye.

👉 The roadmap to a post-quantum Bitcoin (and what you should do with your own keys right now).

Don't panic—get informed.

DISCUSSION Bitcoin is down. Why does it still look strong next to gold and silver?

Bitcoin doesn't have to rise to show relative strength.

The attached chart shows Bitcoin above its late-August starting level, while gold and silver are below theirs. Bitcoin has still retreated from its September highs.

In the source's separate weekly table, Bitcoin is down roughly 1%, gold 4%, and silver 5.6%. Those aren't the chart's endpoint percentages, and the cutoffs differ: metals are dated 23 October; Bitcoin is updated to 24 October, 02:45 EDT.

My interpretation: it's resilience worth examining, not proof of decoupling or money rotating out of metals.

What would distinguish sustained Bitcoin demand from a temporary pause before further selling?

TECHNICALS Single Ride vs. Re-entry: Is it worth selling on trail and buying back in?

running a crypto bot with a 2h ATR 2.5x trail that kicks in at +5%. works fine but i feel like i might be missing out during big trends.

trying to decide between two ways to handle it.

first is just holding the bag until the trail hits and then waiting for a totally new dip signal to get back in.

second is selling on the trail but then looking for a quick re entry if the trend is still going, like if it dips a bit and bounces. trying to catch a few smaller moves instead of one big one.

worried about getting chopped up buying back in right before a drop or just losing it all to fees from trading too much. has anyone tested if re entering after a stop out is actually worth it or does it just add noise? my win rate is high now but i hate seeing a run end and sitting in cash while it keeps going up.

STRATEGY The $81,500 Maginot Line: Inside Wall Street’s Cost-Basis Trench War and the Final Defense of the Bitcoin Bull Market.

Thumbnail
inbitcoinwetrust.substack.com
2 Upvotes

Every time Bitcoin tries to charge toward $85,000, it hits a wall. Every time it drops to $80,000, invisible hands buy it back.

If you’re only looking at basic candlestick charts, it looks like frustrating, random "chop." But beneath the surface, there is nothing random about where we are stalling or where we are bouncing.

We are currently boxed inside a $6,000 compression chamber.

Above us sit trapped 6-to-12-month "top buyers" at $87.7K who are desperate to exit at breakeven. Beneath us sits a heavily fortified concrete trench at $81.5K—the aggregate cost basis of all U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF investors ($108B+ in assets).

With offshore stablecoins at 12-month lows and corporate treasury flywheels stalled, Wall Street’s $81,500 entry price is currently the final firewall preventing a deeper drop to $74.8K.
