So, earlier today, I was mentioning how much I was struggling on hollow knight to a friend, and their immediate response was "Have you ever played any video games before? Like ever? At all???" And that led me to ask the question in the title, so imma give yall my stats, and guys have to be honest

hornet - 40-ish attempts. Maybe a little bit more?

dung defender - 3.5 attempts (my switch bugged out half way, so I had to start over)

soul warrior - 10-ish attempts?

mantis lord (singular) - 10-ish attempts? (still yet to beat. apparently there's more???)

broken vessel - 82 attempts (still yet to beat)

watcher knight - 5-ish attempts (still yet to beat)

uumuu - 20-ish attempts (still yet to beat)

I feel it's one of the most lively areas in the game. You're never too far away from Dirtmouth and it's situated at a higher altitude than it, emphasizing a sense of safety and distance from the horror and dread far below; one of the farthest areas from Deepnest and The Abyss.

Despite the enemies posing quite a challenge at first, you never feel truly hopeless or the feeling of impending doom because of the upbeat soundtrack and color script used. It kind of reminds me of Duke's Archives and Crystal Caves from Dark Souls I. Both feel like self-contained spaces that are placed in their own corner, distanced from the harsher effects of the corruption (e.g., Tomb of The Giants, New Londo Ruins and Lost Izalith) and merely have peripheral contact with it.

The soundtrack and color script may simply just temper and mask the true intensity of the dread you are experiencing and observing, as seen with Myla. But still, this area is a blast to play through when I want to simply relax and take a break from the grittier environments.

Hallownest was a really advanced civilization if we look closely. Besides there are a few things of them that seem to be more medieval (like the fact that the city guardians use nails and spears to attack), there are other that show us that the pale king's empire had advanced technology. One of the most compelling evidences that we see of this is in crystal peak. We can notice, all over the area, different types of machines and mechanisms such as conveyor belts, rock compressors, and laser beams (though the latter might perhaps just be a natural property of the crystals themselves).

And when arriving to the end of the zone, we discover a kind of workshop with some huge robots in it. If we read the description of the crystal heart, we can see that these very robots are, in fact, creations of the inhabitants of Hallownest, used for mining.

Hallownest was a very technologycal developed civilization, and I would even go so far as to say that these mining golems could rival the Chorus of Pharloom.

Hollow knight might still be the game I like more. I only recently got into hk (like a couple months before silksong) so there’s no nostalgia factor. The vibes and feel of the original game with the music are unmatched. There are obviously some improvement in silksongs general gameplay, but it doesn’t hit the same for me. Both great games, but I lean towards the og. Is that an unpopular opinion among people who’ve played both or generally agreed upon?

Spent a month or two on it. Spent a lot of time on watching tutorials and stuff and made this mod, im pretty proud of it. It’s a modified version of byoc for GZdoom and UZdoom, both have been tested and work. I’ll upload the mod to Doom world or other websites later. I’ll maybe try go iron out a few bugs until then so here’s a preview on the weapons. And yes, i did insert assets for the knight’s multiplayer and chase cam look. Just forgot to include most of it in my recordings

I'm going as Hornet for holloween, and I was wondering if there are any common things she does throughout the game that people recognise for her. Obviously, there are her voice lines, but I'd like to know if anyone finds a particular action utterly Hornet when they see it happening irl. I just really want to capture her essence because I've put effort into my cosplay, and I'm only a moorwingfight game-wise, so I haven't seen much of her at all.
