Discussion - Flaired Users Only Has anyone else here seen NAZA yet? I just got home from the cinema, and I just need to write something

Early evening at an art house cinema. Probably only 20 people in the screening. When it ended, the room was silent. Like, nobody spoke, at all. Just no words. A couple of people bolted for the door but I kinda couldn't move. I saw a guy sitting by himself, with his head in his hands. I asked him if he was okay. He kind of nodded and smiled weakly.

I mean, damn. I knew it was going to be tough, but it was still... I don't have a word for it. Like when you leave Auschwitz, or Yad Vashem. Empty. Crushed. What did I just bear witness to? How can people do this to each other? How can they justify it? Even if the film makers hadn't drawn them for us, the parallels were devastating. Industrial scale killing, lit by the banality of evil.

It's not a film you want to see. It's a film you have to see. Actually, I take that back. You don't have to see it. You already know what it's about. If you're concerned for your mental health, then don't go.

In cinemas now, or if can't find a screening near you, you'll be able to watch it for free on the Guardian website in around a month's time.

To those more knowledgeable about Israeli politics than me - what is the most likely outcome of the Israeli election in terms of policy?

And yes, this is tagged as Zionist nonsense.

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Israeli here how are you voting

Do you vote for more liberal Zionist parties what are against violent settler culture (despite the fact the country was build on the same exact violent settler culture but what is an Zionist without their complete lack of sense of critical thinking.) Do you just try to vote for the party that you think can more easily defeat Netanyahu. Do you vote at all. Are there even antizionist parties that exist.

News Voter suppression and incitement during Israeli elections, surprise surprise

These are live updates and I don't know how to get the article links, so I'm posting them in full. None of this will even be considered newsworthy. Aside from tactics to suppress the votes from Palestinian citizens of Israel, Netanyahu is also inciting against them yet again. In 2015 it was scandalous. Now it's just another live update and barely even registers in the Most Democratic Democracy to Ever Democracy

Eden Solomonand Jack Khoury

Adalah, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, told Haaretz it had received numerous reports of systematic delays at polling stations in Arab communities, stretching from the Negev through the Triangle region to the Galilee.

"There are numerous reports of severe slowdowns at many polling stations," Yeela Raanan, a member of a team monitoring election integrity in Bedouin communities, told Haaretz. In many Bedouin communities, Raanan said, "people report waiting for hours, and polling station staff are taking a very long time to verify each voter's identity."

Under the law, the chair of the Central Elections Committee and their deputies may extend voting hours on election eve or election day and, if necessary, add an additional day of voting on Wednesday.

According to Adalah, police officers were checking voters' identities at polling station entrances and delaying their entry. Polling station committees were also reportedly conducting voting procedures slowly and asking voters irrelevant questions. In some locations, committees allegedly closed polling station doors and suspended voting, citing reasons such as "the committee is in session" or a "mix-up with the ballots."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent voters a recorded message, accusing the left and Arab parties of trying to "steal the election."

In the message, aimed at mobilizing his supporters, Netanyahu claimed that police had "caught three senior United Arab List officials with envelopes of cash in the south."

While the United Arab List confirmed the three people detained in the Negev were party activists, it denied they held senior roles and called the arrests groundless.

Netanyahu went on to warn that "the police will get to everyone, you have been warned," and claimed that "Jewish women from the left are leading Arab women voters to the polls."

He urged his supporters to vote Likud "to ensure a right-wing victory over the left and the Arab parties."

...

Jonathan Lis

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned in several posts on X of "mass voter turnout figures in Arab communities," claiming that "buses are leaving for polling stations in Arab communities" – reviving a scare campaign dating back to 2015, when he warned that Arab Israelis were voting "in droves."

On Tuesday, Netanyahu again wrote while claiming high Arab turnout: "This is an emergency. The future of the Jewish state is at stake!"

I am glad to be dispelling my ignorance, but it is disheartening to acknowledge just how many lies- of omission or otherwise- I have been taught as a child.

Before 2025, I knew nothing.

Before 2025, I thought Isreal was a land of amazing technological advancement, and Jerusalem was a vibrant mix of cultures and religions.

Before 2025, I thought there were two sides, not an oppressor and a victim.

Before 2025, I had never thought to question if anyone already lived there before jews "returned to the holy land".

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Is "diaspora" specific to Jews?

The term has been used since classical times to refer specifically to the Jewish population in Europe, but since the second half of the 20th century it has also been used to describe descendents of migrant populations from all across the world. I used to describe myself as "Chinese diaspora" for example. But I'm not sure if that is ok - does it undermine the unique historical experience and context that Jews have had?

Zionist Nonsense Adam Brody’s ‘Nobody Wants This’ costar speaks out after actor’s pro-Palestine comments

Hi,an Arab here! I don't hate Jews. I have nothing against Jews. My parents never taught my siblings and i to hate Jewish people. Sorry,I know it's off topic and not about me,but I just wanted to point this out.

Tovah Feldshuh is speaking out after her Nobody Wants This costar, Adam Brody’s remarks about Palestine.

The 77-year-old actress shared her thoughts on Brody’s recent GQ interview, in which he called for a free Palestine and spoke critically about Israel’s military actions.

“To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild,” Feldshuh, who is Jewish, told The New York Post. “It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim and you make the victim the perpetrator.”

While speaking with The New York Post, Feldshuh said that it “makes a difference to the [Jewish] community” when genocide accusations are made by Jewish people. She also told the outlet that individuals with “large platforms who feed their followers such falsehoods do the most damage,” but did not specifically mention Brody by name.

“I believe that the perseverance of the existence of the state of Israel is crucial to the well-being of the democratic world and of the free world,” Feldshuh continued. “Of course, Israel needs the United States, [but] the United States needs Israel, believe you me.”

The Walking Dead alum added that she believes “we’re in a time… where socialism and antisemitism are trying to meet,” and claimed that the only way to combat what she described as “lies,” is through telling the truth.
